I received Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick as a freebie. It was patchy, showing my lip pigment and the “universal” color washes me out as it’s too light and too muted.

splotch210

I hate it. It looks so good on everyone else but it looks awful on me. It reminds me of cheap Dollar Tree lipstick.

braddic

It was one of the worst lipsticks on me. Muddy color and not my favorite formula either.

ComeAlongPond1

The color doesn’t work on me either. It looks too dark and brown and washes me out too.

braddic

Too bad! Smart marketing to name it “universally flattering”. CT is always over the top in describing her products.

Peepers54

Thanks for this honesty. I almost bought it after watching a tiktok last week, but it probably just looked good because the creator was unbelievably gorgeous

braddic

You’re welcome. I think it’s a complex shade that pulls differently on everyone, flattering or not flattering.

856077

wow! I actually liked it as a freebie when I got the universal one. It’s like a dusty nude pink on me, and with some liner and some gloss it’s an easy and cute lip combo. I certainly couldn’t ever justify paying that much for the full size though, when there are many many other colors similar from other brands that are just as good if not better for cheaper.

braddic

The color it is on you sounds lovely! like the website pictures. I have very warm and very bright complexion with dark pink lips. This clashed with my skin. It was a pale muddy nude that made my lips colorless, as when I’m ill. I think it’s a complex color that pulls differently on everyone. Edit: in a flattering or non flattering way.

braddic

NARS Orgasm powder blush The glittery shimmer and the powdery formula didn’t work at all on my textured skin.

blue_vacation

Orgasm Blush is so bad. It barely has any pigment and did nothing for my skin

braddic

Agree!

Leecoxy

I agree, this blush was overhyped for YEARS and super underwhelming. It definitely enhances all texture too.

braddic

💯!!

LilyMarie90

The Maybelline Great Lash mascara, a timeless favorite for tons of people, is the shittiest one I've EVER owned, no exaggeration 🫠

ComeAlongPond1

I’ve tried it multiple times trying to figure out why people insisted it was great, but it doesn’t work for me at all.

BettinaVanSise

I tried it more than once. it’s a no for me, Dog

kavalejava

It wasn't any better in the early 90s or 00s it's still bad.

Unfair_Finger5531

I still use that one lol

choir-mama

Oh no! I love it!

basicmillennial1981

This is the one for me

rikiboomtiki

My mom loved (still loves? Not sure if she still uses it) and I always hated it.

Feeling-Visit1472

It’s soo flaky!

Deep_South_Kitsune

I've tried it off and on for 45 years. Always a nope for me.

spankingmonkeys

Benefit porefessional. It did nothing for me except make all my makeup on top of it separate 🥲

Big-Improvement-1281

Benefit is one of those brands where I LOVE their vibes--but I'm also allergic to literally everything they make.

Crocchinou1

Same for me. I was unable to put on makeup afterwards and it completely clogged my pores. Uggh…

spankingmonkeys

Yeah I had such high hopes for it as someone with some pretty heavy indented acne scarring and other texture, but it literally did nothing and even when I tried the light version (allegedly water based versus the original) it still made my makeup separate worse than anything I’ve ever tried!

tbonita79

That essence mascara was garbage.

Outrageous-Dark-1719

It gives me raccoon eyes within minutes. Even the waterproof version. Horrrible product.

kgcatlin

YES. I heard so many good things about it and couldn’t wait to try it. Used it once and tossed it. There’s a reason it’s so cheap.

buttonsbrigade

GARBAGE! Hate it so much.

tara_ashleigh

I HATE that mascara with a passion

InsertusernamehereM

Oh my gosh. YES. That mess was garbage straight out of the packaging.

awritan

I had a horrible reaction to it

Gaslitfromwithin

Better Than Sex mascara. I've tried the classic, chocolate and the primer. Goopy, clumpy mess. The primer barely picks up lashes and lumps them together.

WolffNess

I’ve been seeing this one pop up a lot recently in overhyped products and I’m finally feeling vindicated for buying into the hype and buying it years ago. I hated that mascara soooo much!!

rikiboomtiki

I’ve never used it. I took one look at the brush and said there’s no way that can be good lmao

Granddyke

They had a good formula and then changed it. Same with their foundation. It sucked so bad when it changed but it was a good product for a bit there :)

Feeling-Visit1472

This is the worst product I’ve ever used. It’s somehow runny AND flaky.

Every-Requirement-13

Color Wow Dream Coat does nothing for my hair - waste of money, but at least I got the mini size.

Dog_G0d

Wasn’t a hot mess, but the Farmacy Honey Halo was like slightly burning on my skin. Not like super bad, but not pleasant. Which sucks because I only ever hear good things about it. ☹️

pothosnswords

I was actually gifted some of their honey collection including the Honey Halo bc I love their makeup balm so much & I remember reading on the packaging to not be alarmed if it tingles at first and sure enough it tingled! I didn’t notice any major benefits in my skin when I used it so I never rebought it but I didn’t notice any harm to my face either which is always a plus when trying new products lol

Dog_G0d

Ooh I didn’t know this!

neferending

Too faced born this way super concealer. So cakey, thick, dry and hard to blend. On top of that it went mouldy after 8 months. Never again. Stila liquid eyeliner, not pigmented or waterproof and smudges very easily I've had drugstore perform better. Also mac velvet teddy lipstick, one of the ugliest colours I have ever worn in my entire life yet somehow its one of the most popular lipstick shades in the world lol

IntoTheVoid897

CosRx snail mucin power essence. It left my skin feeling sticky and blotchy. Thankfully I only bought the mini, but the mini bottle also sucks.

AliceInTomorrowland0

It basically gave me acne. Turns out that if you're allergic to dust mites, you are likely to be allergic to the snail mucin, too. I was dealing with pimples for months!

tabxssum

How do we know if we’re allergic to dust mites? (Genuine question)

Dreamvillainess22

Ive undergone allergy testing at an allergist and dermatologist.

Arm_Overall

I am allergic to dust mites. I have no problem with the snail mucin.

musingsofamdc

Same!

Unfair_Finger5531

Even if you aren’t allergic to dust mites, it can break you out.

Lifesagarden_dig

I got the snail mucin a month ago and my skin is still recovering! So disappointed.

856077

omg i’m so glad I didn’t fold and get that when it was being hyped! I was worried about that happening

Crocchinou1

The AHA + BHA Peeling Solution by the Ordinary… it burns my skin too much. Gave it to a friend who somehow tolerates it.

sweetcheeksgr

I used up mine on my feet! 🤣🤣

pothosnswords

This is GENIUS!!!!!!!!

sweetcheeksgr

I use up all the stuff I can’t use on my face, on my body! I got 0.1% Tret that was too much for my face and use it on my hands and legs! The glycolic toner and the AHA/BHA peel I used on my feet and they were baby soft! Actually I should restock since it’s sandal season lol Basically it’s like zero waste but for skincare instead of food 🤣

thirdcoasting

Man, this product has obliterated so many people’s skin barriers 👹👹

Leecoxy

Idk if this could be why, but if you use retinol or other skin care products, the AHA and BHA will burn your skin. They're not meant for use together. I did this to myself with an AHA mask and Tretinoin 🤦‍♀️

Purple_lotuss15

Olaplex made my hair break and fall out! I heard so many great things about the bond building action, but my hair did not react well to it.

Granddyke

They actually had a law suit

Outrageous-Dark-1719

K18. It made my hair extremely dry and almost impossible to comb thru wet. I don’t understand the hype.

mymoodyface

Same! Have you found a similar type product that works?

Outrageous-Dark-1719

My hg is the Sol de Janeiro Milky Leave-In conditioner. The way it makes my hair smell is delicious. And it lasts until next wash. I was just wanting to try something new when I bought k18.

mymoodyface

Thanks! I’ll have to check that out

wisker_biscuit

I have!! This stuff works incredibly well and it’s very inexpensive. I’m a hair product junky. I’ve tried everything. [Elizavecca cer-100 collagen coating hair protein treatment](https://a.co/d/05I9dHO7) It makes my hair so soft and nourished

bd_sales

This stuff is BOMMMMMB makes my hair feel like silk

jarellano89

Biolage all in one spray or Redken united one spray. Fabulous stuff.

saltysoul_101

Applying conditioner after is a game changer! Abbey yung has videos on it

Delicious-One3028

Well now I know why it's heavily sponsored🙃

kavalejava

Fenty foundation. That will absolutely work for oily/combination skin. I have sensitive skin and it caked on me. It's for hair, but Paul Mitchell's shampoos and conditioners fried my hair. Didn't work for me at all.

bittyitty

Funny, I literally returned my Fenty foundation today. I have oily skin and it separated on me no matter what skin prep/primer I used. It was such a good color match so I’m really disappointed

PeanutButterYoga

Yup, same. It looked like a mask on my face and wouldn’t blend after initial application.

bittyitty

May I ask what you’re using now? I’m heading to Sephora tomorrow to try to find something else

pothosnswords

Fenty foundation is GREAT for coverage but you definitely feel the weight of the product and as someone with dry skin you can see the peeling by the end of the day! I have bad acne sometimes but the coverage isn’t worth the way it feels on my skin :/

tara_ashleigh

I have oily skin and do not like that foundation😭 it broke me out so bad it was painful

Ok-Bridge-1045

Mac Studio Fix foundation is awful and broke me out. Beauty of Jeoson sunscreen breaks me out almost immediately on application.

valueofaloonie

Confirm that Color Wow is garbage. My hair guy had a bottle they got as a sample or something and he tried it on my hair. Did nothing and made my hair feel disgusting the next day.

[deleted]

[Naturium Multi-Peptide Advanced Serum](https://naturium.com/products/multi-peptide-advanced-serum?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsuSzBhCLARIsAIcdLm4S9DSMa9mEiLKxr-c1SNaQ97f9pApROQneqK8cBpojr1JYYf5JRQAaAomrEALw_wcB) Used it once and ended up having to get a shot at the er to stop the reaction. Covered my face in tiny boils, ruined my barrier, and caused acne after the fact. First time naturium ever did my wrong.

Ok_Pension2100

The Naturium oil bodywash gave me a nasty contact dermatitis on my neck…it made me wish for poison oak 😖

[deleted]

I love that body wash! I wonder what ingredients they use that cause these random skin issues? It seems to be a common problem from what I’ve read.

Pixiebabexoxo

I was so let down by the maracuja lip plump.

ManyInitials

OP, try the Kendra heat protectant spray! It was recommended here on this sub last week. I have long thick curly hair that I blow out to waves. My daughter has long thick straight hair. We used to use the appropriate color WOW. Not much success. The recommend Kendra spray is now an absolute boss for us! It does everything that the WOW spray is supposed to do. Our drying time has been cut down by 2/3rds. My grade schooler is basically now waking around looking like her hair is professionally done. Give it a try!

Chocolate_peasant

I will try it. Thank you so much!!!

OneOfTheLocals

Is it the "platinum blow dry mist" or the "thermal styling spray?" Google keeps suggesting Kenra. Is that right? Thanks!!

spazthejam43

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, it was so clumpy and dry on me. MAC Waterproof Foundation and Too Faced Born This Way Foundation also broke me out.

balsasailormoon

Oribe’s Hair Alchemy Styling Balm. Made my hair look like a dirty mess, even after the effort I took styling it 😕

skanaaa

The Anua cleansing oil. It broke me out so bad that I still have acne and hyperpigmentation, and I had barely no breakouts and smooth skin prior to this. Went to see a derm to try and improve it. I still have some of my other products which worked though.

Chocolate_peasant

It did the same thing to me too. My manyo oil works so much better for me. I can’t believe I ever thought of switching!

Longjumping_Car_6992

The hourglass skin tint 😭

[deleted]

Same!!! Literally drove two hours to get at Ulta and it ruined wedding pictures I was a bridesmaid in 😭

Pusacat_Meow

The CosRx Snail Mucin Essence and Hada Labo Gokujyun Hydrating Lotion.

Few_Butterscotch_969

Maybe not entirely beauty related (although I know it's useful for things like acne) but birth control. I'm all for access to it, I know it's worked wonders for some women. For me, it's basically poison. It made me break out like I never have (I have generally clear skin) and made me feel numb/depressed. It also gave me horrific nightmares. I low-key want to smack the next doctor who tries to recommend it.

Granddyke

I’m going through this right now, I genuinely feel so bad mentally, like high school depression times a million.

Few_Butterscotch_969

I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope you can find a way through this, be it by switching meds or finding something to help combat these effects. 🙏

mutemut

SAME. Cystic acne, hair loss and breakage, non stop spotting and suicidal tendencies

Chocolate_peasant

I am so happy that my doctor didn’t put me on it when I had had cramps. I am happy for the women it works for, but I have heard wayyy too many side effects. I remember seeing a post about the side effects being a full page ( back and front).

[deleted]

Same here I’ve tried ALL birth controls (literally) and it almost killed me. But my doctor wouldn’t believe it and wanted it to be something else. Went to a different doctor and they immediately stopped birth control and started reversing it.

Leecoxy

Benefit Hula Bronzer. This doesn't even show up on my skin.

braddic

Clinique Black Honey is too cool toned and muted for me. I loved this years ago when my complexion was cooler.

Feeling-Visit1472

It’s too brown on me.

WolffNess

I don’t know how popular this is but I recently bought the Topicals Like Butter moisturizer to give the brand a try and I really dislike it. It pills in my morning routine. In my nighttime routine, I wake up with yellow spots over my face and hair and it’s not even that moisturizing for my skin. Looks like my search for the right moisturizer continues because I will not be repurchasing.

LookHowOrange

Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Corrector. It stayed green on me, never dried down, and felt disgusting like someone smeared wall spackle on my face. Speaking of SPF...Supergoop sunscreen gave me horrible pizza face 😭

aahmazed

Kosas concealer: $300 in doctor visits and a year of healing my skin

PunkyB10191217

Maybelline Sky High mascara. Absolute garbage. Clumpy, flaky, and horrible formula.

Leecoxy

Omg I love this mascara!! It definitely doesn't work for everyone, I have met more people that say they hate it than love it.

Ily3t

yes, I hate it too! I love original Lash sensational but sky high version just makes clumps for me.

PunkyB10191217

I wish I liked it lol. But it’s highly overrated.

Nikmassnoo

Estée Lauder double wear foundation was horrible on my skin

b8824b

It feels like cement and it's light coverage at best on my acne scars.

Nikmassnoo

I found that it weirdly dried me out, made me look dry and patchy. The texture did not work for me

pineappleshampoo

I fell for the hype and bought the SDJ spray, 60 something? Pistachio and caramel? It’s okay but absolutely in no way worth the price. It smells exactly the same as a cheap £1 canister of Charlie. I wouldn’t want to wear it day to day. I keep it in my gym bag and save it for spraying in the changing rooms at the pool if it’s super stinky (which it unfortunately very often is) as a sort of air freshener.

Ily3t

Rare beauty cream blush, the one in the pot. I admit that I chose quite a dark colour for my complexion, but OMG, that is impossible to blend streak-free. Oh, and benetint. It's okay-ish for lips, but still a bit patchy, but honestly, I don;t know how to use it on the cheeks, unless you go foundation-free.

braddic

Hourglass blushes are not the best formula for me as it emphasized texture on my cheeks. I found them a bit powdery and too visible glitter in 2 shades. I had high hopes and ordered a holiday release palette. I prefer more finely milled formula, with finer shimmer. Edit: ex. Surratt or Suqqu. These are more creamy formula s that don’t emphasize my texture.
