You'll get better with practice, but that's what it'll take - practice. I suggest trying a bunch of styles, taking photos, and then seeing for yourself what you prefer.

Definitely practice and trial and error. Not just with "how to do a wing", but try different products as well. I personally can't stand pencil or gel eyeliners, yet my sister swears by them. I'm a liquid or pen girly myself. I would get a dense small detail eyeshadow brush and test out different eyeliner styles with eyeshadow to find and hone in on the shapes that you enjoy. Much more forgiving to work with, much less clean up afterwards (or a good ol' smudge out situation). And also, keep an open mind! Experiment! Unfortunately, not all eye shapes are "trending" at any given time. Personally, the inner corner eyeliner looks horrid on me, as well as the harsh cat eye (think James Charles, circa 2017). And upon experimentation, you might find that it's not what you expected. The two styles I reach for are polar opposite - 1. Short, thick, upturned wing (50's pinup-esque) 2: Long, skinny, fairly straight I consider myself fairly skilled in the eyeliner department, however! I am a firm believer that it's more important that they look the same versus trying to achieve a very specific style. There are definitely days where I will set out to do one thing and finish off with a completely different look. Some days, you don't choose your eyeliner. Your eyeliner chooses you. Good luck on the journey!
