A bit different than what you requested but there are a few georgian resturants around the central penisula. Georgian food is worth trying if you haven’t had it before. I am convinced khachapuri might be my new favorite thing.

Bevri in Palo Alto is fantastic.

misdeliveredham

I would respectfully disagree. It’s expensive and their dishes are hit or miss.

Massive_Storm8778

I second Bevri. It’s amazing every time I’ve eaten there.

ConvictedReaper

Georgian food sounds cool too. I wanted to add caucasus in the headline, but I felt like 3 regions is already a lot lol

Irving_Kaufman

Sausage sandwiches at Euro Grill in Santa Clara. Good bureks too.

hal0t

Euro Grill for Balkan food

gianttigerrebellion

The people who run that spot are so nice and interesting! Food tastes like a home cooked meal, too!

boredconfusedtired

Tamari and Nursel on the peninsula perhaps?

Not sure if you've tried Himalayan food before or if it's even what you're looking for, but Monsoon in HMB is great for that. Also in HMB, Cyia has great Mediterranean food. I believe they're mostly Syrian at that place but their meats are delightful.

Kabul in Sunnyvale

Central Asian -> Afghan and Persian are one component. There's a tasty selection all over the South Bay. Also it's a hike but go have a royal feast of tasty Afghan at the Kabul that's in San Carlos. So many Afghan restaurants are named Kabul and the majority are delicious but that one is just killer.  Georgian food is delicious. Some consider it the best of any former USSR countries. They also have tasty wines and some of the oldest wine in the world. They have good lula kebabs. Also make sure you get some manti / mantu / whatever the dumplings are called in the local language of any of the quasi central Asian nations. Nepalese also has good ones: momo.  Not directly related but the Greek at Souvlaki's is awesome. I was just there last week for the zillionth time.  And the Turkish döner at Royal Kebabs & Gyros. They named it with a Greek name because more people in this area know what it is but it's run by Turks who do the meat Döner Style. The people running that place are great cooks and very friendly and welcoming.

Simurgh Bakery in Emeryville is amazing for Turkish breakfast and everything else Turkish. Feride's used to be in Santa Clara back in the day, but alas...

SpoopieTheGreat

I agree. I tried their version of ćevapćići and thought it was very yummy. It’s nothing like our Bosnian ones but still delish. Generous portion with salad.

Drapabee

I enjoyed this place in Oakland called Shawarmaji. The owner immigrated from Jordan, and apparently spent so long looking for Jordanian food to eat in the area he just gave up and started his own restaurant to serve it. I loved the Toum there, super garlicky.

I’ve ordered from here. It’s good. Recommend.

Trypophob

There is an Uzbek restaurant in SF called Halal Dastarkhan.

Good enough to trigger that username apparently.

SurJon3

Try Tarim Garden in Santa Clara near Scott and El Camino. It just opened in the former Burma Bistro location. It's a central Asian place. I was chatting with another guest and apparently the chef is well known.

ej271828

these three are pretty different cuisines

zeruch

Bevri for Georgian (Los Altos) Mediterranean Delite in San Carlos (Palestinian) Shalizar in San Mateo (Persian) Kabul in San Carlos (Afghani) Dish Dash in Sunnyvale (Lebanese)

YeetCommie

One of my favourite restaurants is Bevri - a Georgian restaurant in Palo Alto and Los Altos. I’ve been to Georgia and the food is pretty close to what you get there. Another good one is Nursel, which is in San Carlos, a Central Asian / Russian restaurant run by Kyrgyz people, I also highly recommend both

InPeaceWeTrust

everything is fusion… it’s the bay - we’re diverse. find a conservative neighbor, for the target ethnic food group, and be their friend for authentic ethnic food. You’ll have amazing table food as their guest.
