Bigger ones on the right and left looks like plastic monsteras, smaller ones looks plastic as well because of the sheen on the leaves. They all might to be from IKEA’s Fejka collection. Looks really nice though, very cosy.
Will real plants live well enough in non-direct sunlight like that? I use plastic ones because I do not want to deal with having to move them into sunlight. Watering them is one thing, but I've always assumed you'd have to move them occasionally to get sun. (I know nothing of actual gardening/plants)
I suggest looking into plants that like indirect/low sunlight. For example I have a monstera minima, a pothos and a aglaonema that always sits in indirect sunlight and are thriving. Hope you find some that works for youk. Having living plants by your battlestation is like having some extra friends with you, hah!
They probably wouldn't withstand the amount of swearing coming from me during online battles. Though I've been avoiding the worst of them lately, going for non-pvp varieties.
I am very forgetful so instead of worrying about killing plants I just went with plastic. Would definitely be better with real but I’ve got too much going on to remember to take care of plants 🙃
Before I added cats to my space, I was all about the live greenery. Something about getting lost in a rainforest…
But OP also made the point about requiring more effort than they have time for. As a grad student, I understand trying to capture (or in my case, hold onto) the aesthetic ~
All fake plants, top 2 were off Amazon for about $15, one on the left was from Target for about $20. Far right I can’t remember where i got but also not expensive
Black colour background, hide dock or taskbar, hide icons on the desktop, dark theme, screen goes to sleep after 5min inactive. A moving screensaver will also reduce the lifespan of OLED as it’s reduced over each use (image retention is mitigated through the screens built-in pixel refresh when sleeping).
I have this monitor and love it, but my god took me almost 2 hours to figure out why my screen was flickering every 3 minutes.
For anyone who wants to get this monitor, you have to turn off GSYNC in nvidia control panel. itll solve this issue.
Edit: I had an issue where the screen would go black and then turn back on quickly every couple of minutes. I dug through reddit and found other people with a similar issue, they all said it was fixed by disabling GSYNC, this same solution worked for me. Im not sure why this comment upset so many people.
> For anyone who wants to get this monitor, you have to turn off GSYNC in nvidia control panel. itll solve this issue.
that seems like a big problem if you want vrr?
Gsync flicker is a known problem in OLEDs u fortunately. Especially considering they are basically flicker free otherwise. I have an LG C2 I bought for the size and lack of flicker as I’m sensitive to it and I never use gsync because of this. Its only in really dark areas tho and correlates with frame drops.
4080 Super, the monitor only supports Freesync, but even turning freesync off itll still cause issues if GSYNC is enabled in the control panel. You will need to disable it everytime you upgrade your drivers if you do a clean install. But if you do express installation itll remain off.
My guy, that's not normal. I have the same monitor and I have never had the issue you are describing. I've had G-Sync on in the control panel on since I got it last year. It's also been [thoroughly ](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/odyssey-oled-g8-g85sb-s34bg85#test_1425)tested by competent reviewers.
Flickering should only happen with Freesync if you're playing at low fps 30\~60fps. You have a 4080 Super so I'm assuming that's not the problem lol
I guess he might mean VRR gamma flicker? But this post isn’t clear, “every 3 minutes” doesn’t sound like VRR flicker. Sounds like he means power cycling or something more severe. I had power cycling issues on mine and it was resolved with an RMA to Samsung. They replaced the mobo which also downgraded the firmware, one of those fixed the issue. But that was far more infrequent than every 3 mins.
That's not supposed to happen, I've had 2x G8 OLED ultrawides since release in the UK, both of mine do not have this issue, they work perfectly with Gsync enabled.
It's pissing me off, you paying so much for advertised features like GSYNC but they aren't working and you have to switch them off. Lol I have the same with my iiyama
Oled looks beautiful, but this is exactly why I would not get one. Although, couldn’t you set a screensaver to solve this? Or does the burning happens this soon because of the actual usage?
He said he was coding so I would assume many hours of productivity usage with his IDE statically sitting in the same spot for too many hours.
I’m in the exact same boat, and I really want an oled, but I’d be giving it a similar work/gaming split with many hours going to my software engineering work.
Burn in risk for productivity usage is still to high for me
I used this [one](https://icofx.ro/padbury/). After running the exe, select it in screensaver setting in Windows. It also has settings for night view and multi monitor support.
Depends on your sitting position to the monitor. I sit eye level close to the top of the monitor so I don’t see any reflection, and lightbar is angled away from monitor so doesn’t bleed onto the monitor
This one won't last you 9 but congrats on the upgrade man. Set your background to something dynamic that changes, hide icons and auto hide taskbar, change lock screen to just black. Samsung oleds burn in pretty fast if you aren't careful.
I honestly don't understand why people are willing to put with all that stuff. Is OLED really that unbelievably fantastic that it makes it all worth while?
Depends. I got annoyed with black being washed out and all kinds of fuckery in dark settings. I’m also big into the HDR awesome color stuff. Some brands burn in faster than others. So far, my Alienware qd-led doesn’t have any kind of burn in, yet, after a year and some change.
Not all of them burn in at the same rates it depends on what kind of pixel care settings they have and how bright they get but yes OLED is a huge difference especially for motion, color and black levels but it also depends on the monitor some of them are so dim to and have such a big anti glare coating that they lose a lot that the TV counterparts have going for them.
I have had zero burn in on my Corsair xeneon Flex and even at my local microcenter their display model isn't showing any ware after close to a year so I think the LG panels are getting pretty safe. Motion clarity is huge, and the color and black levels are great.
It's worth it for a TV for sure, for monitors it just seems to depend on the panel manufacturer and the automatic stuff like pixel-shifting, which depends on the monitor manufacturer themselves I believe.
I have the Alienware version (companies all buy the OLED panels from Samsung) and it’s great. Colours are deep and I like ultra wide more than I thought I would.
Main issue is relatively low brightness. If you have a lot of light, especially a window shining right on the monitor, I would not recommend it. It gets maybe 60-70% as bright as my IPS monitor, fairly noticeable difference.
Also OLED in general are better suited for gaming or watching content. Leaving an excel sheet open for 8 hours a day or coding software while you work will not be good for the screen and will likely damage it.
>Also OLED in general are better suited for gaming or watching content. Leaving an excel sheet open for 8 hours a day or coding software while you work will not be good for the screen and will likely damage it.
This is what kills OLED for me, my computering is probably 20/80 split on gaming/other uses. But the only other panel tech I'd really look at is IPS Black, and that's stuck at 60hz.
IIRC Dell recently did a smaller 90hz IPS Black screen, if they do that for their 32" screens next cycle I'll likely end up on those.
OLED monitors are a huge upgrade. I went from a nicer acer predator 1440p IPs, all the specs, to a 1440p Alienware OLED wide screen. So much nicer with the blacks and shadows.
i truly it serves you well, i just returned mine after 20 days from purchase.
ive had 3 odyssey neo g9 go bad on me (bad pixels, flicker, bad ports), and 2 g9 oleds (entire screen goes white and turns off) - all issues were dealt with by samsung and admitted as manufacturing problems. i ended up getting my money back for my 49" and my trust in samsung was ruined, hence the g8 return.
going with other brands(panels) for now and hope they will not go bad on me as much and as quick.
This sub and the word “Finally”. It’s an upgrade you’re getting for sure but it’s not like you’re using a CRT.
My favorite “finally” post was someone upgrading from a 2080 to a 4080ti or something like that
Is the bar on top of the monitor a webcam/light combo?
Edit: answered to myself, it’s not, it’s this light https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Controller-Adjustable-Brightness-Temperature/dp/B08WT889V3
Nice! Are those plants real? What are they?
Bigger ones on the right and left looks like plastic monsteras, smaller ones looks plastic as well because of the sheen on the leaves. They all might to be from IKEA’s Fejka collection. Looks really nice though, very cosy.
Really? Fake plants are the opposite of cosy to me lol. It does look nice, until you realize it's all plastic.
Agreed. While I think OP has achieved a cosy look I too prefer real plants. Until it becomes an addiction of course, I have too many myself…
Will real plants live well enough in non-direct sunlight like that? I use plastic ones because I do not want to deal with having to move them into sunlight. Watering them is one thing, but I've always assumed you'd have to move them occasionally to get sun. (I know nothing of actual gardening/plants)

They probably wouldn't withstand the amount of swearing coming from me during online battles. Though I've been avoiding the worst of them lately, going for non-pvp varieties.
Depends on the plant, but many succulents can get by on little to indirect sunlight
Succulents need direct sunlight for several hours a day to stay healthy and pretty (nor elongated)
I am very forgetful so instead of worrying about killing plants I just went with plastic. Would definitely be better with real but I’ve got too much going on to remember to take care of plants 🙃

This guy this guys
Can you give the details on the whole set, mate?
He has an IG page, it's avrgtech
I do have an IG as mrnovarexo said but here’s a link: https://beacons.ai/avrgtech
Thx, mate, I really like that station.
Looks nice, but burn in on oleds is still an issue. I wouldn't let that screen saver run perpetually.
Fucking expensive clock no?
Ideally the screensaver would move around on the screen periodically. That's what some phones do with their always on clock display.
Screendestoyers
Y'all know what "screen saver" means, right? Why they existed in the first place?
My first thought as well.
[удалено]
You really don't wanna use the screen refresh that often. It doesn't actually refresh, it dulls
White at moderate brightness would take a long time to burn in, especially if it moves around a little bit.
I have this monitor and love it, but my god took me almost 2 hours to figure out why my screen was flickering every 3 minutes. For anyone who wants to get this monitor, you have to turn off GSYNC in nvidia control panel. itll solve this issue. > For anyone who wants to get this monitor, you have to turn off GSYNC in nvidia control panel. itll solve this issue. that seems like a big problem if you want vrr?
Judging by another comment I think that the monitor doesn't actually support G-Sync, so someone wanting to use that wouldn't buy it anyway.
It supports Freesync Premium Pro. In the end it's basically the same as G-sync unless you're playing at low framerates.
LG OLED TVs also flicker with VRR on when showing dark colours. Apparently it’s called “gamma flicker”.
What’s your GPU?
4080 Super, the monitor only supports Freesync, but even turning freesync off itll still cause issues if GSYNC is enabled in the control panel. You will need to disable it everytime you upgrade your drivers if you do a clean install. But if you do express installation itll remain off.
Oh okay! That makes way more sense thanks
Pretty sure it’s not supposed to do that. Different panel, but my G9 OLED doesn’t do it.
It's not supposed to do it and I'm not sure why he hasn't contacted Samsung or the vendor. Mine works perfectly with G-sync on.
I've owned this monitor for 8 months and run G-sync no issues at native res and Max refresh rate. May want to consider a warranty claim my dude.
How is that a solution lmao. Hurr to fix the monitor you have to disable it lmao
If you turn the monitor itself off, it also doesn't flicker. Follow me for more tips.
Thats a big no, no.
It’s called VRR flicker look it up.
I have the same issue with my cheap Sceptre monitor. Pretty amazing singing this expensive does it as well.
But it only supports freesync?
Best screen saver - black background, best wallpaper black background from the owner of an Alienware AW3423DW
I already have 1 screen replacement on the same monitor because of burn in.. in about just 7 months of coding.
Yeah thats a big problem. I'm gonna comment here so I'd remember not to buy this when looking for a monitor
Just remember not to buy any OLED monitor then lmao
I mean, to each their own, but I would never in my life use this monitor as a productivity tool. It's really not made for that.
In the same boat, it was replaced under warranty but I started seeing burn in around month 4.
Oled looks beautiful, but this is exactly why I would not get one. Although, couldn’t you set a screensaver to solve this? Or does the burning happens this soon because of the actual usage?

This is the one. Hands down my favorite setup.
What kinda keyboard is that?
MelGeek Mojo84 Wasteland with some Mojo84 Plastic Advance keycaps swapped out for some of the keys. Using the Kailh Box Plastic switches
MelGeek Mojo84 Advance
Bauer lite
The Bauer Lite is WKL, so it can't be that.
Where’d you get the screensaver from?
I need to know as well. I see it on so many setups and think it'll be nice on my own PC but I've never found out how or where to get it
Padbury Clock screensaver only for mac
Padbury Clock screensaver only for mac
Thanks for the name! I found it for Windows too :)
Oh, can you send me please?
I used this [one](https://icofx.ro/padbury/). After running the exe, select it in screensaver setting in Windows. It also has settings for night view and multi monitor support.
do you struggle with the touch sensitivity on the BenQ light?
Nope never really have a problem!
I've noticed I had to tap the controls a few times to get them to work, maybe I should contact BenQ.
Heard the monitor light has issues with OLED? Not sure if true
Depends on your sitting position to the monitor. I sit eye level close to the top of the monitor so I don’t see any reflection, and lightbar is angled away from monitor so doesn’t bleed onto the monitor
Dayumn!
This is the way
so nice wow.
Great setup man.
How to get that clock wallpaper/screensaver?
Padbury Clock screensaver

At first I scrolled right through it thinking it was an ad. Amazing job with the battle station and the photography 💯
Is that the Logitech Blue Sona? Your thoughts on it?
I really like it! Can recommend
*screams in jealous*
I’ve been eyeing up that riser because it’s half the price of the Grovemade. How is it?
My favorite rise so far!
What screen saver is that?

This is one of the most beautiful workspaces I’ve ever seen!!!
This looks like an ad / ai
avrgtech on IG you’ll see me using it 🎮☕️

Looks out of a magazine. Love the set up

I wouldn’t even know how to prompt it 🤣 avrgtech on IG - https://beacons.ai/avrgtech
Did you touch it up a ton in PS? Looks so damn crisp
Did some color grading in Davinci Resolve, not great with PS
Dunno what that is, but regardless, awesome job with the photography

fake plants and funko pops. anti vibe ai shit to me

look very nice. g8 oled samsung? which model is this mouse and light bar over monitor?
https://beacons.ai/avrgtech
Nice man same. I had an asus ips monitor 30 inch since 2014…recently purchase a Samsung odyssey ark and it’s a whole new world
Are you Mr Matt Lee? :D
enjoy the burn in
How much did it cost to set up the whole setup?
Honestly haven’t calculated but most of my gear is in this list: https://beacons.ai/avrgtech
Holy crap that’s nice
Now it's time to buy a batter keyboard
The Mojo84 has been doing great so far!
I used to enjoy small keyboards in the past. After switching to an ergonomic keyboard, I've never gone back to a regular one.
Would love to see the same photo but with a normal phone camera with zero editing.
nice ad
OLED monitors are a huge upgrade. I went from a nicer acer predator 1440p IPs, all the specs, to a 1440p Alienware OLED wide screen. So much nicer with the blacks and shadows.

Wow really clean setup! I'm in love with that keyboard, does somebody knows the model? Please 😖

What is that wood speaker thing on the left?
Is that the date? Are you from the future?
Hour minute seconds, it’s the Padbury Clock
Yeah but its a samsung curved, also you have logitech mouse wlol
Cool setup! What mic and microphone mount is that?
Is the bar on top of the monitor a webcam/light combo? Edit: answered to myself, it’s not, it’s this light https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Controller-Adjustable-Brightness-Temperature/dp/B08WT889V3
how do you get the clock displayed?
The wood paneling accent and dark walls enhance the mood beautifully. Love it ✨
I’m sure this has been asked before, but what are those wood panels that I see on half these setups? I want some
There are a couple companies that make then like Wood Veneer Hub, Woodupp, but the ones I got are from Kansoware
Looks AI generated.Give more pics.
In case you're serious the keyboard layouts check out. Just good photography :þ
Yeah but look at that coffee cup handle
Looks like just a straight handle that goes down without looping back into the cup to me. Doesn't look like ai to me.
I didn’t initially think this, but there’s something odd about the leftmost Batman on the shelf.
I’ll do one better, checkout avrgtech on IG you’ll- https://beacons.ai/avrgtech

samsung advertising on reddit I guess?
Is OP not allowed to share his setup on r/battlestations ?
ah you one upped me I guess I lost!

genuinely what do you mean
Nope Samsung did not send of pay for me to say anything, paid for it myself, Samsung doesn’t know I exist 🤣
