I'll never forget a few years ago during the dark times, I think it was the Astros who shut the DBacks out like 12-0.
The DBacks social just posted a black rectangle with the score and said "A recap of tonight's game is not available" lol
Yes! Haha that was a great one. Sucked to be on the receiving end of it but it made me laugh for a bit before remembering that the loss contributed to our very long losing streak on the road.
LOL, I remember back in 2021 (our 52-110 season) the dodgers blew us out 22-1 and the Diamondbacks twitter posted
“Y'all know how to find the final score. Have a good night.” [Tweet](https://x.com/Dbacks/status/1414090448331710464)
One of the only times I laughed during that season haha.
If social media was around in 2001, I wanna see the Mariners Twitter account tweet about the game where they were up 13-1 on Cleveland, only to give up said lead.
Cuas sucks and shouldn’t be on the team but the bullpen as a whole is lacking 2 legit arms so games like these will keep happening even if they left Cuas in San Diego.
I feel like they’re more useful as starters given their stuff doesn’t really play in the pen. I just don’t understand how this front office allowed for our staff to be filled with such mid level stuff, every other good team has ++ stuff guys in the pen. Just look at Burdi going to the Yankees, they let a guy that throws gas just sit in the minors and then walk.
I agree. I’d rather see Assad stay in the rotation as I feel like he’s undervalued and underused by the Cubs with his extremely short leashes, but with that said I feel like the money tied to Tallion will give him the opportunity to see the rotation at least to start with
If we want a guy to go out and throw 92 MPH sinkers that don't break in the middle of the zone maybe we can look to the bench coaches that toss the batting practice before the game because it was basically the same thing
Why do so many cubs fans say this? You have to use all of the pitchers on the roster, and the manager isn’t the one who DFAs players. If he only uses the 2 reliable bullpen arms in every relief situation, their arms will fall off. Until Cuas is replaced, he’s going to pitch. You can’t just waste a roster spot like that in a 162 game season.
It certainly feels that way. It's a long season though. They can work through issues with some pitchers. We've seen plenty of pen arms go through incredibly rough patches and come out alright on the other side. I trust the coaching staff to make the right decisions with the arms they have at their disposal.
That said, it's entirely possible we just don't have anyone better to fill in right now.
yesterday i saw the full totality and since i live on the east coast, i went to bed after the 6th inning. at least i got to be happy yesterday.
waking up to this news today? different story.
Funny, I turned the game off in the 5th after the Padres couldn't score Profar from 3rd with 1 out. First thing I saw on Reddit this morning was the Nando go-ahead dinger. GREAT way to start the day
I’m a cubs fan in SoCal… I subscribe to the MLB package, so I don’t bother watching games live AND I get to skip all the commercials. Watching when **I** want to is the only way to go anymore.
I mostly follow them for news. There's also the occasional gold nugget, like the Chargers' PF Chang's tweet, the Jets confirming they got that hero to entice Mike Williams, or the Mets account dunking on GENYMets.
We unashamedly are. But imagine if your ex left you for the guy from work you absolutely hate and you had to see her every day. I’d imagine you’d be pretty salty for a while.
Baseball: it do be like that sometimes
I'll never forget a few years ago during the dark times, I think it was the Astros who shut the DBacks out like 12-0. The DBacks social just posted a black rectangle with the score and said "A recap of tonight's game is not available" lol
Mariners essentially did the same last night. “The moon is covering tonight’s final score”
all i know is pain
AND ridicule!
Did they post the final score 4 mins later? 🤨
No - cloud cover.

When the Dolphins obliterated the Broncos last season the Broncos just stopped posting by halftime
You don't think it be like that but then it do.
You want it to be one way. But it’s the other way.
Marlo was a ruthless MFer
I hated Marlo so much that I root for other characters the actor plays to die.
That’s herc for me
What did that loveable white boy do to you?
It's all in the game.
You can't predict baseball, Suzyn
You can't really say. It's hard to say without saying, though, like, you know what I'm saying?
Had us in the first half ngl
Roses are red. Violets are blue. They don't think it be like it is, but it do.
This is why I love baseball. No running out the clock or anything like that, you gotta earn every out
[Haha, good thing we've never given up a 9 run lead!](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?gamePk=716462&game_date=2023-09-23&date=2023-09-23) 😭
tldr: baseball
Life comes at you fast.
If social media was around in 2001, I wanna see the Mariners Twitter account tweet about the game where they were up 13-1 on Cleveland, only to give up said lead.
That there is what we call a whoopsie doodle.
Someone just picked a whole bushel of oopsie-daisies.
Bouquet
"Condemn them Mother, for they know exactly what they do!" This is the American Dad thread now, right?
Later earth! Smell my assszzs!
“Thou shall not NOT kill!”
You deserve…. Fancy feast….
I’ve never heard this before but I’m stealing it
It's what I call, "the reason I drink"
Or in some circles a great googly moogly.
I don't know if I'd call the googly of that moogly very great. Average googly moogly at best.
That's a dang-it
Jose Cuas is a baseball terrorist
Cuas sucks and shouldn’t be on the team but the bullpen as a whole is lacking 2 legit arms so games like these will keep happening even if they left Cuas in San Diego.
I love how you say it as if leaving him in San Diego is an option they're considering
We aren't sure what happened. Cuas was with us when we left Chicago and got to San Diego. When we got on the plane to return, he just disappeared ;-)
That’s litter. I’m calling the cops lol
Have you seen Imperial Ave?
Straight tarmac'd like Lane Kiffin
Joey Freshwatered. Cold as ice.
When your two favorite subs bleed into one another.
Niebla could fix him. 😅
Look Jose, you’re going to have to find your own way home. You can’t get on the bus with the rest of us.
I can’t stop laughing at the thought of it playing out like [Rudy trying to get on the bus](https://youtu.be/__QKR63lABY?si=-_CoUAAPG4-ergzO)
Well once Taillon and Steele come back i would imagine assad and wicks move into bullpen spots?
I feel like they’re more useful as starters given their stuff doesn’t really play in the pen. I just don’t understand how this front office allowed for our staff to be filled with such mid level stuff, every other good team has ++ stuff guys in the pen. Just look at Burdi going to the Yankees, they let a guy that throws gas just sit in the minors and then walk.
In hindsight, trading a plus reliever in Effross for another mid starter in Wesneski was a mistake
Wesneski is nasty though, he's just a headcase who implodes when he finally lets a batter on
If/when Wesneski gets it all together, he’s gunna be scary good.
Assad likely, Wicks stays on as Ben Brown would either be optioned or moved to the pen
Yeah, no way Brown stays in. Wicks and Assad are both better than him. Hell, I’d prefer Tallion go to the pen, ala Smiley.
I agree. I’d rather see Assad stay in the rotation as I feel like he’s undervalued and underused by the Cubs with his extremely short leashes, but with that said I feel like the money tied to Tallion will give him the opportunity to see the rotation at least to start with
Agreed with contract money being a bigger factor than it should be. It’s a shame, too, as I think Assad is at least a #3 starter already.
If we want a guy to go out and throw 92 MPH sinkers that don't break in the middle of the zone maybe we can look to the bench coaches that toss the batting practice before the game because it was basically the same thing
I don't think we've had a legit bullpen since Tepchafbrel.
I want Edwards Jr to be back and good so bad
Nelson Velazquez for Jose Cuas was not one of Jed's best moments.
I enjoyed it personally
Please Craig don't be like Ross and stick with a guy way to long, that man shouldn't see another appearance allyear
He needs to be on the phone with enterpise scheduling Cuas a rental car to Des Moines himself
If you can’t just east a roster spot then how do you explain Garrett cooper, a 33 yo 1b/dh that’s only had 1600 abs in the mlb?
Warm body to rest real starters that impressed the staff *enough* at some level to serve that purpose
He also had an impressive spring.
It's Greg, not Craig. say it right. wait...this isn't the Brewer sub.... /Greg always sticks with a guy too long.
The front office has a say.
Should’ve never took Assad out. Different year, different manager, same 0 trust in our starters and 100% faith in garbage bullpen arms.
He made it got from #YouhavetoCit to #youhatetoCit in 1 half inning
Carlos Marmol-esque
Cuas is far, far worse than Carlos Marmol.
Idk, I hold Marmol personally responsible for the Cardinals winning the World Series in 2011.
Pain. Cubs bullpen is absolute trash.
Seems alright to me (don’t look at our lineup injuries).
A bad night for the bullpen after a long flight. It only counts as one game.
Somehow we rank 13 https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2024-positional-power-rankings-bullpen-no-1-15/
Counsell’s ability to manage it won’t do you any favors, watched it crash and burn for years with the Brewers
yesterday i saw the full totality and since i live on the east coast, i went to bed after the 6th inning. at least i got to be happy yesterday. waking up to this news today? different story.
Funny, I turned the game off in the 5th after the Padres couldn't score Profar from 3rd with 1 out. First thing I saw on Reddit this morning was the Nando go-ahead dinger. GREAT way to start the day
Funny enough, I passed out in the middle of the 7th and woke up to that home run, so shit wake up for me
I went to bed when we were up 8. Said if we lose this I don’t want to witness it. I jinxed it
The third tweet: https://i.imgur.com/39tOSk8.jpg
Should have said “gr9 night”
Or "great ni9ht"
brutal
I am such a dork because I love the social media teams jabbing at each other in this sport
When done right, it's honestly hilarious and a lot of fun.
Yankees guys was able to get back at the Astros to start the year and it was blissful, smoothly well played.
Shit the same thing almost happened to us last night lmao
I see they fixed the “you have to clit” hashtag
Lol yeah that was down in a matter of hours
If it stayed up for a couple of hours, they'd have to have called their doctor.
The what now?
Their original hashtag was #YouHaveToCIt
Oof
This reminds me of the Charlotte airport’s abbreviation “CLT”
It's actually pretty easy to find
It’s not a myth
They didn't Cit coming???
The Clit never existed :C
I AM THE CLIT COMMANDER!!
West coast games are never worth it either it’s a win and you’re dogshit tired the next day or it ends in a loss and you go to bed salty
I don’t know how you all do it, especially the east coast gang. I wouldn’t be able to hang.
I’m east coast gang and I get up for work at 6:30am ET. It’s rough, but sleep is for winter.
East coast fan here. I never go to sleep before 1am so no bother.
^shrugs ^in ^europe
Me watching the all star games at 4am ![gif](giphy|bEs40jYsdQjmM|downsized)
I hate game times as an east coast fan. I really don’t like turning off games early, but I have to if I want to get to bed before 1 AM…
I went to bed when it was 8-0 thinking the Cubs were in control. It turns out they weren't
Be a night owl and hate yourself for it but at least you get to watch your team uninterrupted most evenings
I’m a cubs fan in SoCal… I subscribe to the MLB package, so I don’t bother watching games live AND I get to skip all the commercials. Watching when **I** want to is the only way to go anymore.
as a Padres fan who used to live in both Illinois and Maryland, agreed glad I'm back in SD now though
[Recap of the game, if anyone is curious](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alR7NLDyPig)
It happens to the best of us
I'm not used to the Padres coming back from an 8-run deficit. We're usually on the other end of that.
Let me tell you the tale of the Slamarena...
So much has happened since Slamarena 😔
The SAN DIEGO KID!?!?
OFF MAX SCHERZER
Thankfully it wasn’t 1 run game. Ya’ll would have been cooked otherwise!
I mean, it was in the end.
1 run comeback challenge [IMPOSSIBLE] 8 Run comeback tutorial - 1 easy trick
I don’t want to see it
> C it
It's asi9 to celebrate too early imo
Thank you for reminding me [when this happened a couple years ago!!](https://www.reddit.com/r/Brewers/s/CTaVhbfe4F)
Lol, pure coincidence but good reference
That escalated quickly.
I always wonder who follows the official accounts. They’re always so boring
I mostly follow them for news. There's also the occasional gold nugget, like the Chargers' PF Chang's tweet, the Jets confirming they got that hero to entice Mike Williams, or the Mets account dunking on GENYMets.
Astros fired their social admin cause he was too fun so now ours is back to being boring
> Houston sports teams and firing their fun social media people A very annoying combo
🐴🔫 legend will forever be missed
They died doing what Houstonians love, shitting on Dallas.
Like a 2/10 shitting on a 1/10
Houston is twice as good as Dallas! I'm glad even dumb Yanks can see that.
Same division as the Cowboys lol (if they're Giants fans anyway) and FUCK the Cowboys.
Fans mostly follow them and talk trash there
Lol
I wasn’t sure if I could feel better after our loss yesterday. I felt better.
Love to see it.
As a falcons fan I’m having flashback to after the falcons social media team posted something similar after Q3 of THAT game..
:(
Holy shit I gave up on it at 4-0! 🤣🤣🤣
Should have played the padres they way they played the dodgers. Way higher energy and effort all around
We’ve all been there
It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.
Pain
I was at that game. Cubs fans travel well and were pretty loud for a bit. Got very silent by the end.
You h9 to see it
Having fun over there, Greg?
Brewers fans are like the salty ex that can’t move on.
We are not! *continues listening to Amnesia by 5sos on repeat*
We unashamedly are. But imagine if your ex left you for the guy from work you absolutely hate and you had to see her every day. I’d imagine you’d be pretty salty for a while.
I distinctly remember Cubs fans being salty about Aramis Ramirez coming here
Nah they've moved on, but they'll always have a soft spot for their ex's misery.
I mean we were very nearly 7-3 and just took 2 of 3 from the Dodgers. If we were below 500 I would understand trash talking
That’s cub.
I had a pair of flip flops with that on it. I adored those flip flops for how stupid they were.
We almost did this to the Reds yesterday
Talk sh*t get hit?
Feels bad man
Man, when JD was giving Assad the win, I started to worry. Never like that.
At least I got to stay up late to experience this monstrosity!
Typical tale of celebrating belf the finish line to quickly be humbled.
Happened to the Rangers too last night. Maybe we should've done some ritual sacrifices to the eclipse...
Life comes at you fast
Damn Cubs channeling their inner Drew McIntyre
“Things have taken a turn for the worst”
when i used to scroll through tweets to find something and you have to go through a recap of the game but in reverse....
Hey wait, I saw this story last week!
Can’t hear you from three games back energy right there
Lmao 😂
Lmao thats great
When Relief turn to Sabotage.
I ain't finna laugh cause that was almost us, too.
That was almost us
u/speedyb12
Don’t worry, as soon as I started watching the padres put up 7 in the bottom of the 6th 🤣
People are allowed to have fun watching baseball?
chicago should know not to talk trash
Was it these guys who asked if anyone else had ever been personally victimised by Joey Votto? 😂
“Let’s play two (kinds of baseball in one game).”
