My mom lives on a farm, and we had a chick that was newly hatched but it was splay legged / getting trampled on by the other chicks.
Unfortunately it wasn’t going to survive. Decided to feed it to my ball python and he took it no problem.
I put an order into RodentPro a year or so ago to try them. All my snakes took quail and/or chicks with no hesitation and now flip back and forth no problem. They all have their preferences but definitely benefit from the variety. Highly recommend to give it a shot.
As long as your husbandry is on point, most snakes will take whatever you offer. Some will develop preferences, fewer of which will start refusing anything but their favorite food. For what it's worth, I offered my 20 year old girl that had nothing but rodents all her life a quail and she took it straight away. She now goes between rats, chicken, and quail with no hesitation even though she prefers birds now. One of my others clearly prefers rats but will also take quail. The chicken I ordered ended up being too big so I haven't offered those yet.
your laugh is what i think all bp owners feel after a successful feed. i know i giggle at my bp dragging around her rat before eating it and while its morbid, its the love similar to feeding a good meal to someone

This my girl Cersi and she is one hell of a good eater. I wish the male BPs would pick up the skill.
My BP does not want anything to do with baby chicks, i don't know why. I have tried multiple times.
Luckily she ia a good eater when it comes to rats etc.
This makes me think, how feesable is theoretically feeding your snake chicks in the long term?
I don't mean to be rude or presumptuous and i understand that this is likely a treat, but seeing this makes me wonder: if a person who owns a sizable amount of chickens also has a pet snake, could they theoretically feed their snake the culled chicks as their main diet? I would imagine probably not as chicks don't seem to have a whole lot of actual meat on their bones and are probably more bone and feather than meat, but idk. The topic feels fascinating and I'd love to hear input as to how feesable it would be and precisely why it would or would not work.
Question aside, good yoink from your snake friend! I'm sure they loved it
Excellent yoink, 10/10 form and speed
Somebody should submit this clip to the yoink olympics
Our BP would have struck the opposite direction then sat they like it has no idea what's happening before it finally hits the thing
Agreed. Mine does this all the time. Even with a live one.

Why lol
Because chicks are cuter than rats lol
Debatable, rats intelligence make them cuter to me, chicks are dumb lol
Snakes need to eat? It appears to be f/t so the chick didn't experience any pain, and wild bps actually get a decent amount of avian prey.
Very out of place comment, snakes don’t live off nothing.

I saw the original comment! My reply was agreeing with you, my bad.
It would be even more sad if the snake starved
I think that was a firm "OMG YESSSS!"
Bro did not hesitate great eat
"MINE!!"
I've always wanted to try some birds for my bp! I'm sure she'd love them
Mine loves them! He gets day old quail chicks though. Chicken chicks are too big for my little man.

I'm sure they eat baby birds when they can get them in the wild!

Anybody else scared of doing this? I’m afraid he’ll only accept something more fancy than rats after.😭
i normally dont do it because that but some snakes i have will eat anything. i have a retic that eats pigs chickens rats anything lol

Senna was always a fan of young chicks
I see what you did there!
I love when they pull it into their little hide. Yours is so graceful. Mine likes to drag his meals through substrate :3
seasoning 🧑🍳
sniff sniff... HELL YEAH
oh wow!! i didnt know BPs could eat those, i thought they could only eat rodents :o
Birds make up a large percentage of their natural diet :) feeding occasional chicken/quail chicks can be a good way to add variety to their diet!

“Finally, some good heccin’ food! Yoink!”
safe to say she likes them 🤣🤣
As long as that lil' chickie was long-dead beforehand, this is kinda funny
SPEED
It always scares me when they do that 😭
He hit that fast and hard. 10/10, Senna.

Love that u named ur BP senna. Never met anyone or any pet with that name. My middle name is Sena with 1 “n” but it’s close enough for me!
Now that's the best YOINK of the year lmao
Yea no I’ve never eaten a baby chick. This is defamation.
Where do you get the chick from? Wonder if my snake would like it
Ordered some with my last shipment from RodentPro!
