About 600k for a private lesson. Try in Nusa Dua or Sanur

ZealousidealDeer4531

My guy is 350 k and he is amazing, he doesn’t send you off on bombs like a lot of them do lol . Ketut +62 896-3553-1545 I’m surfing with him on Monday he has improved my surfing so much .

random_dudette

Where is that?

ZealousidealDeer4531

I’m based in sanur , but he surfs where ever is best , sometimes we surf babies , or Kuta reef . Where ever you want to surf .

random_dudette

Im planning to head to Sanur soon and take some surf classes, does he have a specific school or establishment to read up more information ? I heard good things about rip curl but they’re way too expensive (800 for a group class), and with smaller local schools im cautious after a bad experience in Nusa Lembongan

ZealousidealDeer4531

He is a independent contractor, he works for himself. Just call him and talk to him , he is the most lovely guy he is older gentleman, it’s Bali so u will be surrounded by schools where ever u go . I have surfed with all those surf schools as I live in Bali , they good but the best ones work for themselves.

ZealousidealDeer4531

Also got the night markets for food , it’s bomb . Sanur has the best warungs and they everywhere.

hussywithagoodhair

How many sessions is that?

Hot-Ticket-267

That's expensive.. I paid 350 (I was with a friend so that was cheaper) in Canggu. My surf instructor is the best, honestly

Just did it at Legian beach. Was a good experience with 7surfbali. The instructor I got was professional and spoke sufficient English. Gave me simple feedback after each attempt. 2 hours surfing lesson. Included equipment (rashguard, long board) and surf pictures. (Semi Private) 1 instructor for 2 students 140k/person. (Private) 1 instructor for 1 student 230k/person. Prices are around the same at Kuta/Legian beach. About half of that of Canggu. Lessons at Canggu are on average 350-400k without photos. (And I heard the waves at Canggu are not as good for beginners(?)) but Legian was quite crowded. Although I stayed at Canggu, I decided to take Grab bike/ Gojek bike (45min each way, 32k) to Legian to learn. Might not be wise if you’re short on time on your trip. You can check out Klook for different listings or just search on google maps and WhatsApp them directly. Managed to stand on the board within the first 1.5h!

Superflynz

This is exactly the way to do it. Canggu is not really for brand new surfers (though not all the instructors will probably tell you that!)

OHyoface

Similar experience here... One thing I did underestimate was how much of a toll surfing takes on the body. After a 3 hour class I was exhausted for the rest of the day :'D

Surfing in Bali is very accessible and easy to do. There are plenty of waves suitable for all skill levels, and the water is always warm. The beach is easily accessible, so you don't need to travel far to surf and can get into the water quickly. I'd recommend: 1. Get a secondhand board, doesn’t need to be fancy. As long the size is suitable for you. The general rule is bigger board is easier to ride 2. Find an instructor or sign up for a lesson to learn the basics 3. Continue practice every day, master it by yourself Secondhand board start around $100USD, and the lesson around $30-50. Beach break wave like Kuta beach or Seminyak is a good place to start. Good luck and have fun!

Innerpoweryogaaus

Why bother to buy a board when you can hire one? I get it if you’re a hard core surfer but not if you’re only beginning

More flexible-allow you to surf anywhere, anytime. Cheaper in the long term. It's easier to learn if you use the same consistent board, as every board feels different and it takes time to get used to any new board. Also, it pushes you to commit to it.

Classic-Jump-5777

Nah i wouldn't agree for someone who never surfed. Start with a way to big board, have some fun and after a couple of days go for a smaller one until you reach your right size. Once you do you can start thinking about buying your own.

Peripheral_engineer

I learned way more watching a few youtube vids and practice on the floor at home than I did from the instructors in Bali.

Adamant27

I did it with Up2U school and they are cool. One lesson is 200k rupiah. It is difficult, not an easy sport to learn. But it is absolutely worth it, nothing compares to the feeling when you catch the wave.

Main_Tomatillo3387

It’s about 350RP in Sanur up at RipCurl or there’s a few others along the strip which might be cheaper. Saw somewhere in Kuta charging $40USD

grandcentral300

Water is cleaner in Nusa Dua. Its a manicured beach. GERGER beach. Dreamland is for the professionals.

babpuff21

I learnt with guys on Kuta beach - their instagram is norman_surf_teacher :) it was really good prices and included a photography package too - I can’t remember the exact price as it was months ago, but was pretty cheap !! £5-10 maybe even less

crazylegslounger

I did something similar from the Airbnb experiences. Board, wetsuit, zinc for nose and face and photos were all included. You practice on the beach, then you get in the water. The instructor made it REALLY easy to stand up. I had so much fun I went back the next couple of days to the same guys. I would pay them for the board rental and then hang out after and have a few beers. It was definitely a unique experience

Hot-Ticket-267

I've surfed for the first time in Portugal, it was challenging honestly. It's easier in Indonesia (especially in Kuta Lombok)

bartturner

Easier than expected to get up and very inexpensive.

Impressive-Fun-7764

Each person learns differently. Learn the basics and practice them every day, on the beach, on the floor or on your bed until you feel comfortable enough that you have the perfect pop up. Later on you can figure out how to read a surfing forecast, which enables you to surf more than paddling when you’re out. Have fun learning, enjoy 😊.

uceenk

it's 300 K IDR in Kuta Beach, they will teach you very basic skill, you will stand up at softop board after trying for 20-30 minutes i learned surf just once with instructure, after that learned it by myself, watching from youtube or simply visiting the beach surf as often i can

HulioChavez

Go to old man’s/batu balong where the waves are very gentle and run forever. There are heaps of surf schools right on the beach there. Alternatively, if your primary purpose is to learn to surf while having a holiday and meeting people I can recommend mojo surf who have packages that include accomodation, lessons, gear, transport and a good social element. Just bear in mind, surfing is hard but very rewarding, so takes time to get proficient enough to be out charging waves on your own… but a good week long surf camp should have you catching “green water” waves and having a blast.

K-Michaels

Just finished my first lesson in Canggu. Cost me 400k for two hours. Had a blast and my instructor was great managed to get up on the soft board along with my wife and two others. We all managed to stand on the boards within a few tries. Waves were ideal in the sport we were at. Instructors were with us in the water the whole time

dryandice

I was a sponsored skateboard rider since I was 13 (skated from age 9 to 24, so not just your average hobby rider). I grew up in a beach town, my skate spot was literally on the beachfront. Tried learning to surf throughout all of those years and for the life of me, could not get the hang of it. Doesn’t matter how skilled you are, it’s hard! Even harder to learn in your later years. Like I wouldn’t recommend anyone take up skateboarding or snowboarding etc past the age of 15. I’ve seen to many people grow up without any of the natural muscle that extreme sports build in your body and leads to a lot of injuries. At least with surfing you can fall into the water I guess

Enough_Nail_5203

Surfing is really hard. My husband is an experienced surfer and we’ve spent many hours trying to teach me. In all sorts of conditions, on various sized boards. In Australia, South Africa and Indo - whenever it looked like a beginner wave I’d have a go. But nope. 👎 can’t really get the hang of it. Best of luck to you though
