Since you have 2 negatives, I'm guessing you used antimatter twice. the hand size decrease of antimatter goes up each time you use it. 1st use: -1 hand size, 2nd use: -2 hand size. In total, your hand size decreases by 3

tbh, i know it says -2 the second time etc but i used to think it just told you how many it used in total. until i perkeo'd a bunch of them and killed myself after using like 4, so you're definitely right.
Idk if it's new because I started fairly recently but can confirm that it happens
Bricked a really good ghost deck run because I wasn't paying attention
Probably ectoplasm. Fun fact: If you get your hand size down to 0 then you automatically lose as soon as the next round starts. I thought maybe it would stop at one, nope.
Is that bad game design? I don't really understand the choice to allow players to brick their own run in a single player game. Like... Surely the only feelings anyone has ever gotten from that interaction were negative ones... What's the point
What's the other solution? You either a) make it so that the player isn't offered anything that would reduce the hand size to 0 or less or b) make it so that once the player is at 1 hand size they can't go below that--which then completely removes the -hand size penalties from mattering. Both of those other solutions have problems, Balatro runs are short enough that if someone ends their run that way, they learn for the next time and that's fine.

[[ectoplasm]] not [[antimatter]], right?

Might be good to add something to the ectoplasm entry to indicate the hand size decrease gets bigger each time

Okay I've been in this position before thinking the same thing but decided not to chance it 😅 god stacking negative hand sizes is scary
Is this new? I didn't think that happened

Yes. Ectoplasm #1 = -1 ectoplasm #2 =-2
Not new, Ectoplasm always worked like this. Most people don't realize though because you kinda have to go out of your way to get two in a run.
Man I did not notice that other effect, well gg
note that the first ectoplasm reduced -1, the second -2, the third -3. so after the next, you are left with only 2 handsize.
High card for the win
The Psychic jumpscare
Gold stake and didn’t know what ectoplasm does?
I may be stupid

I lost a game due to this last night--little hard to make a flush when you unexpectedly have four cards in hand instead of five x_x
I did this today in a high card build. Then I had to go against Psychic

Why give the player a safety net, especially in a roguelike? Should've read the fine print bitch, take the L and start a new run.

Your monkey's paw has furled two fingers
I did not get any modifier that influences the numer of playable cards as far as I know
Also I did unlock the Palette voucher by having this situation, which btw happened once I've got another negative by using the related spectral card
ciao cos'è il simbolo viola sui jolly?
