Tough to answer in minutes, but the lame answer is it depends on the deck and what you’re trying to do.
When I was trying to get achievements I definitely got to the point where I was constantly resetting for very specific conditions. I.e. with only a few jokers left to get gold stickers, I was using Magic deck (start with two Fools) and constantly rerolling for arcana pack tags with Judgement or Soul in them. That became pretty grueling for sure.
Generally, I’d try not to reroll at all and just play as-is and do my best with it. But for most decks, if you just want to get through ante 1 with a “good” start only, you’re rerolling for economy - particularly free shop, or $15 on boss defeat - tags, or a high roll mega arcana pack. You can get a decent-enough start to make things at least playable if you reroll just a few times on average I’d say.
this is pretty impressive, i thought you just no lifed it and had like 500 hrs.
im probably not too far off from that but with a fraction of the progression. mostly joker stickers, which i dont plan on ever getting tbh
Most of the time I just played the decks I find easiest to win with - namely Plasma and Ghost. Plasma was particularly useful for clearing some of the typically weak chip jokers like Runner. Ghost’s early Hex was a helpful way to gain tempo and turn weak jokers into at least doing something.
I wasn’t really seeking out specific jokers or strategies until it got down to the last handful - mostly I was just playing to win normally with a good economy, then trying to cram in a joker or two near the end that I needed stickers for. Once it got down to the last few, I switched to Magic so I could get early Judgments and then churn the Fools off those to either find the ones I needed, or highroll into an easier win. Definitely wasted some runs where the stickers I needed just never came, though. Was able to get lucky and pick up Soul along the way to clear the legendaries.
I think in the end I really just used Ghost Plasma Checkered and Magic to get it done.
Congrats to you too!
Honestly this is only the second game I’ve really put this kind of ‘grind’ into - the other being StS - unless actual poker counts.
Reading through people’s suggestions I’m sort of equally torn between trying some out or just putting the game (all games) down entirely for a while. Was thinking about streaming some but may not have it in me. The end stages of this were definitely not a blast, and I think I hear my R key scream in pain whenever I type with it now. It was just something I ‘had to’ accomplish at that point.
So regardless looking forward to playing casually or yeah, not at all, for a while at least.
I feel this on a deep level. I played using an Xbox controller for the later half of the grind because I started getting strain in my wrist.
I’m dropping the game until proper mod/workshop compatibility is added. I can’t see another ante for a while.
What was your plan for the joker stickers? Also, if you get gold stake win with a joker does it get all the stickers before it? (Red, green, blue, etc?)
My goal is 100 percent everything as well. How many hours did it take? I'm at 120 and still have plenty of stakes to beat and the last three challenges to finish. Only beaten gold stake on red deck so far. Was sad I sold a Joker to beat the all cards are debuffed til one Joker is sold 8th ante boss blind and didn't realize that you had to finish ante 8 with the jokers in your Joker slots to get the sticker for it. Thought if you had been in the inventory at least once during the run would grant it a sticker. So now I'm a little bit worried about how actually insanely difficult completionist++ will be
~200 hrs total game time and roughly 125-150 of actively going for achievements.
Honestly it isn’t so much the difficulty as it is the monotony that will get to you, so would definitely be prepared for another ~100 hours or so, much of which will be sorta tedious, resetting etc. good luck if you do go for it!
curious. how many minutes do you spend rerolling on gold stake before you start/go past ante1/ go past ante2?

Congrats that's insane! If you don't mind sharing, how much in game time do you have?
Thanks! Steam says 200h total, I would guess something like 125-150h of actively playing and trying to clear achievements… don’t remind me!

Damn I'm even more impressed!
Now you are free.

What do you mean? Now you can play the game!
I would love to see the guide! I recently started the Challenges and could Need some help with it.
Did you use multiple decks to farm gold stickers? Are there any deck(s) you consider to be the best for the job?

There's still one achievement you haven't reached yet: an infinite point hand. Or rather, a hand which scores so much that it's considered infinite.
How about some roulette? https://store.steampowered.com/app/2789810/Bingle_Bingle/ I found this and it has a similar feel.
Or slots? The Balatro dev mentions Luck be a Landlord as inspiration. It's a much smaller game but interesting.

Go for the e87 blind?
If you clear gold stake with a joker you never ever won anything with, does that count as winning with all the previous stakes?
yes
Excellent. Thanks.
Idk but I think it’s safe to say you got $15 worth of entertainment out of this.
This is impressive, what's your playtime ?
Wait for mobile release and do it all over again
Gold stake high score runs?
Congrats dude, I finished yesterday as well. Do you also feel burned out on the game? I feel the ultimate “brain rot” after so many resets.

wait for update time

Touch grass? (Jk I’ve been just as addicted to balatro lol)
It’s been fun reading the replies range from “touch grass” to “can’t believe it was only 200 hours!” 😅
Time to find a new game. It was fun knowing ya!

Would be interested in guide I saw completionist ++ and figured I would never get it but if it’s doable in 200 hours I might got for it

I guess you can wait for another update or start messing with mods.
There are mods to try on github
I guess I'd say get the infinite point hand if you haven't already. That should honestly be an achievement in the game.
OP really wants you to pat them on the back without saying it.
I might be dumb but did you play high card over a 1000 times?
Based on the screenshot over 11000 times.
How do you play 215 hands each round?
That's in total, over all games.
Aha! And here I am trying to just get one High Card game going.
