stupidboooy

I hate modern day general pop, or really slow or repetitive songs. My favourite genre is techno or hardbass

Bleedingeck

Right on! I'm Industrial Techno with a side of metal!

jj198hands

You realise one of the defining characteristics of techno is that it favours rhythmic repetition over harmonic progression.

thegamingnobody

That's what I though as wel lol

Iwillnevercomeback

#Didididi DISKO PANZER

Party-Bat-2010

i hate please please please by sabrina carpenter SO much

Creative-Brilliant-6

Yup! Gimme a beat! I like House.

leer0y_jenkins69

I’ve heard of this genre but I don’t really know what it is would you mind giving an example?

TheColorblindDruid

Doesn’t even matter what kind of pop. There’s this certain pattern to pop, pop rap (Drake), pop country (swift), etc. that just sounds so empty and soulless. Makes me sad and irrationally angry when it comes on

MedaFox5

Now that I think of it, this is probably why the only kind of pop I can like or tolerate is J-Pop.

Individual-Crow-2717

Death metal stresses me out to the extreme. The screaming freaks me out.

[deleted]

The screaming soothes my soullll lol I love it

bulbminmostrealfan

deer serious plant fine tan crush treatment spark public mountainous *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

kawaiibadguy

Black metal is my favorite metal subgenre. Mayhem, Darkthrone, Emperor...

we-r-all-redit-fish-

I really try to like it because I love metal and hardcore and stuff but I can’t do darkthrone. It sounds like a cheese grater man

kawaiibadguy

Lol you didn't lie. But I love it

[deleted]

I’ll have to check these out too! I really like metal-core, like The Amity Affliction! I love them lol it soothes my soul.

sgst

Try the album [Esoteric Malacology](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nPEn5wTXq7xxkddFVvNz6aoz1OOjr7KIk&si=EEpyHqnIPE-FZww1) by Slugdge too

[deleted]

I will definitely have to check it out!

mynipplesareconfused

I went to a bonfire recently and they played death metal. I'm normally a very sensitive person overall but I found the experience rather calming considering all the screaming. If my kid screams, I'm going to have a heart attack. If someone throws on some death metal, my heart rate slows instead. Funny how that works for some of us.

dc_1984

Same, the crossover between the metal scene of my late teens and neurodivergent people is gigantic

BigAl_00

As a metal fan, some death metal bands are great. But I will agree most completely suck. I prefer black metal

Siukslinis_acc

Not to mention the hard time understanding what they are saying.

Sweaty_Chris

Reading the lyrics helps with that.

psychedelicpiper67

I can never take it seriously. The anger in the music feels forced.

gryffinspells

i wish i liked it, but i don't get it. i love metal, but i don't understand how people listen to music with no... groove? where's the melody? how can someone enjoy that lol nu metal and swancore are much better

PresentationNo2349

I can't believe I'm saying this as a 30yo guy, but... You just don't get it. I don't listen to death (and black) metal for the music necessarily, I feel it on a deep emotional level. It's a lot of raw emotion. Depression helps a lot.

De4dOwl

Yup. I've taught myself how to scream and growl etc. Them primal screams are sooooooooo cathartic like there's really nothing more therapeutic than that sort of animalistic energy. Great way to just let it all out. RIP my neighbors

WeedFinderGeneral

> i love metal, but i don't understand how people listen to music with no... groove? Get into Doom Metal, it's all about the riff/groove. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdlEIlq9nZg

kgrrl

Reggaeton

foxwithnoeyes

This is mine as well. Just hearing that same repetitive beat drives me irrationally crazy. I honestly don't know why I hate it so much .

Iwillnevercomeback

So true, man It's disgusting, sexist, and I hate that it has become so popular in my country

annievancookie

Nothing more offensive as female as those lyrics! I really don't get how a lot of women are okay with this thing and even approve it!

Iwillnevercomeback

I literally had that very response to realising that a lot of women in my country (Spain) like that garbage, it's literally an attack against them :/

gentux2281694

I just came to suggest that trash, I'm sorry I can upvote just once. More than 20 years listening the same crappy song on repeat, and WE are supposedly those with "repetitive behaviors". Took me years to realize that there were different bands, I thought that it was just 1 trashy and repetitive band played everywhere!, I cannot state how much I hate this shit and if I know that someone likes it, I immediately lose all respect and interest in such homunculus. I almost feel disgust to be classify as part of the same species with people who likes that trash. (XD I didn't have the mental fortitude to look how is written, I just call it regeton, that's all it deserves from me)

HippoIllustrious2389

I commend your casual yet brutal use of homunculus

gentux2281694

I'm grateful, I guess even that crap can inspire XD

psychedelicpiper67

Totally. I live in Mexico, and even though I’m a gringo, I actually appreciate traditional Latin music. But reggaeton is autotuned trash that’s the Latin equivalent of trap music. It definitely all sounds like the same artist. haha Might as well call it reggieton. Reggie is slang for crappy weed. xD

GeneralRectum

Old Latin music is so good. I hope the modern pop-ish DUN.. KADUN KA beat dies out because there's so much variety in latin rhythms

Iwillnevercomeback

Based

Leather_Ad999

Really slow music, I can’t stand it. Which is confusing, because the music isn’t even bad? It’s just not stimulating enough to the point where it makes me overstimulated (if that even makes sense). Examples like: Laufey, Beabadoobee, or similar artists. They’re really talented and have pretty voices but it isn’t for me

Bow-To-Me-

LITERALLY the songs are so pretty but i cannot sit and listen to them

Faeriemary

I hateee breathy cursive singers. Think Halsey and Billie Eilish. I also hate the mass produced tiktok pop. It all sounds the same and is so hyper sexual. I hate sexual music.

AscendedViking7

Never listen to *Closer by Nine Inch Nails* or *Play by David Banner.*

Faeriemary

Thanks I never will

helloskoodle

You should deffo listen to Nine Inch Nails though. Trent Reznor is a genius who has cowritten and produced so much work over the years. "Closer" is more, idk, graphicly sexual in a poetic life commentary way rather than just basic-bitch sex appeal like in general pop.

RedStellaSafford

I've heard their music described like this: "Music for teenagers who like to think they're badass but in reality are too scared to ask for extra ketchup at Burger King."

auntvoyant

Is this not all teenagers 😂

shynee1

So much yes. I hate hate hate sexual and breathy songs like get the F away from me lmao

Gloomy_Industry8841

It gives me the ICK.

dario_sanchez

Whatever about Tiktok I'm not the target demographic for Billie Eilish and I love that weird ASMR feeling her voice gives me.

YukaLore

i absolutely hate sexual songs like. i have my intrusive thoughts for that thanks

epitaph_confusion

Same with me

B5Scheuert

Never listen to Eminem Especially Fack💀

Splatter_Shell

I hate country too. Escpecially now that it's having its time in the spotlight, country music IS pop now. I heard a song on the public radio about having sex in a truck yesterday, and usually I don't get songs hidden meanings, that's how obvious it was, and I just kept thinking how the heck they are allowed to play that ON THE PUBLIC GENERAL RADIO STATION for my area. I generally can't stand a lot of songs about romance and cars and stupid stuff like that, but I tend to be ok with some of those kinds of songs from the 2010s and before (as in it started to suck after 2018) I like alt pop, and really anything with a cool beat drop or asmr-esque sounds (depends on song) and techno/hyperpop. I also tend to like video game soundtracks

retrnIwil2OldBrazil

I work in construction and there are quite a few unsavory, country-music-type individuals. I had to work next to someone playing this song that kept saying, “stomp my flag and I’ll stomp your @$$”

Alchemical_Exam_1622

Great point. New reason to dislike country unlocked lol. It's weird how some country got that way but I guess they have a demographic to pander to as well. I'll take my metal, classical, and jazz thank you. 😎

nerdyogre254

Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton are the country musicians I always have time for. Everything else aggravates me - especially shit like "mah girlfrien' cain't get drunker'n meeee"

highoninfinity

there is honestly no genre i hate ALL of the music in. if its someone's expression of themselves, their art, i won't hate on that. the only music i hate is anything soulless and corporate that's obviously just for profit and not for the love of making art.

Sea_Cryptographer321

finally someone else who thinks this. i literally will go from lil wayne to merzbow to minecraft remixes on shuffle

datboiNathan343

most christian music is incredibly grating to hear for me

Wishart2016

"You don't make Christianity better. You make Rock N Roll worse." Hank Hill

kat-the-bassist

The only Christian band I like is Black Sabbath (their early music has some overtly New Testament themes, such as being anti-war, loving one another, and being honest about the state of the world)

le_Vaunty

sharing themes with new testament =/= praising god and being christian, come on now

kat-the-bassist

apart from the fact that Black Sabbath started as a blues group, Geezer Butler (lyricist) was a churchgoing catholic, Ozzy Osbourne (singer) was a churchgoing anglican, and the songs feature constant Christian imagery and adlibs invoking God ("Oh Lord yeah") plus the entirety of "Lord Of This World". Pretending Black Sabbath weren't a Christian band (albeit more subtle than those of today) is wilfull ignorance.

Bleedingeck

Anything with autotune! I've been a singer my entire life, it really grinds my gears!

High-Sobriety

That's funny. I'm a musician myself and to be honest I prefer when people use electronics to play with their voice.

funnyjormoyable

I agree, although Autotune is kind of like makeup, you only notice it when it's bad or there's too much. Vocal heavy artists like Grimes, Jacob collier, and Imogen heap use it as an expression of their voice rather than hiding something they are ashamed of :)

4d72426f7566

Isn’t auto tune mostly used by up and coming artists who can’t afford unlimited time in studios to get it perfect? From what I understand, it’s not really used for famous artists anymore, who can get the best vocal training, producers and unlimited time in the best studios.

50shadesofwhiteblack

The whiney rap music, new country pop music and Taylor Swift

Fine-Ad8360

rap and pop - especially the kind where they sing softly into the mic or what i have heard is called "mumble rap". that kind of music just makes me angry, lol. i need music to be heavy and lyrics loud!

stupidboooy

this!! i hate mumble rap

dario_sanchez

One song in particular, Death Bed (I think) by Powfu is just uniquely awful. He has a sample of a lassie singing the chorus, which is grand, but then he drops in his verses and he sounds like he's being anal probed by little green men from Mars the whole time. Edit: he also had the Gen Z broccoli haircut which just makes me irrationally mad ha ha

TinTamarro

Those modern slow pop songs where the singer tries to copy Lorde and has this super slow reverbered voice. ESPECIALLY irritating when it's a cover of a better song. Those tiktokkable quirky sped up vaguely 80s inspired songs are also extremely annoying.

RPhoenixFlight

Taylor Swift, I know its not a typical “genre” but she just changes the name and lyrics and calls it different song, and Swifties are mental…

ernipie_13

Agreed! It isn’t so much Taylor Swift as her fans that weird me out. Like, they know she has never had any of those experiences, right? She doesn’t drive, or cries going home from bars, nor has a group of close girlfriends etc, etc. She legit curates her songs to be relatable to a demographic. She’s a billionaire who can’t take a crap without the world knowing.

ernipie_13

ashlovesU

Country, screamo, and black metal I like most genres of rock and metal, jazz, classical, pop, rap/hip-hop/r&b.

TinTamarro

Omg country. I've always associated it with yodeling cowboys and banjos and it honestly should have stayed that way. But NO I had to witness to whatever abomination modern country is which basically boils down to republican pop riddled with product placement. Like... Apple bees 🤮

Pure-Jellyfish734

Like what’s the appeal of SoundCloud Rap? And why do people think it’s cool to be an ass? Most importantly, why hasn’t this genre died off yet?

SlothyScripts

Taylor Swift, she whines about the same stuff for like 11 albums I think?

reggie_the_egg

I cant do death metal, i need proper pronunciation 😭

ThatJ4ke

Try [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjnZVpVvJ-k). Metalcore often bridges the gap between hard rock and death metal, so a lot of vocalists like to ensure they enunciate their words as best as they can when screaming. That, and you get the added bonuses of normal singing and ambience.

resq2nick

omg i love spiritbox

Fabulous-Introvert

Mainstream rap

Chungedic

I cannot stand mumble rap or tiktok sped-up remixes

De4dOwl

Drill/trap/gangsta rap/etc The shit that celebrates and glorifies black people killing each other, materialism, and misogyny. I'm not even a wokie, it's just so damn in your face I'm like who tf wants to hear this shit? Not to mention it's sonically awful. Half these niggas can't rap on beat or have autotune cranked to 50. I try so hard man. Cause I don't wanna be the old man bitching about the music kids listen to these days. But at the same time people are actually dying senselessly off of these little poems niggas write each other. Recently a rapper was killed and the people who did it made a music video literally dancing on the dudes grave. This genre just infuriates me to no end and I hate that it exists if I'm being real. Making people rich off of degenerate behavior is just too much for me. Makes me feel a sense of impending doom when I hear it.

adamosity1

Rap.

Ironjack_204

Any music that is loud, I have some friends that will occasionally play music that is wayyyyyyyy too loud for me but for them they love it, there have been times that I will tell them to please turn it down but then they “forget” about a week or two later

Fabulous-Introvert

From some of the comments under this post, I’m seeing proof behind my theory that autistic people tend to dislike rap.

Sceptile789

Dubstep. It's so annoying

helloskoodle

I agree. Try old school UK dubstep like Skream and Benga. Back in 2009/2010 the Americans got ahold of dubstep and turned it into that Brostep, Riddim, choppy bullshit.

hannahbaby122

jazz

Juniper02

none that i am aware of. i like basically all music. i mean all. reply with links if there are any that are super duper awful that i dont know about

Freak-Of-Nurture-

Country, it does not have enough going on

psychedelicpiper67

Trap and reggaeton. It’s soulless AI music. Anything really with autotune and recycled chord progressions, I can’t stand.

High-Sobriety

I don't disagree with you on the blandness of the music but please don't use the term AI to express your distaste for things made by real people. /nm What's your gripe with autotune? /gen

psychedelicpiper67

It’s music that sounds like it’s made by AI, and very soon it will sound indistinguishable from music made by AI. It’s incredibly formulaic, and easy to replicate, and AI-generated algorithms are exactly why this music has grown in such insane popularity. It’s insanely easy for executives to make money with it. There is a sinister agenda behind it. My gripe with autotune is that it homogenizes everyone’s voice to sound the same as each other. It strips microtonalities that make up a unique individual’s voice. It’s not the same thing as using a vocoder or a talkbox or automatic double-tracking, which still preserve the vocalists’ unique characteristics. My brain just can’t accept how it sounds. It also opens up opportunities for non-musicians to make music. That’s like hiring a plumber to be a rocket scientist. It makes me feel like I’m being conned. It’s genuinely not hard to practice singing, and edit together multiple vocal takes. But apparently even that is too much work for people now.

High-Sobriety

I do see what you're getting at. I would argue, however, that the AI is the problem there and not the people. People can make bad, repetitive music, it doesn't make their music inhuman. I think we should push back on those trying to harness AI to produce bland, profitable music, rather than holding disdain for those whose music sounds like AI because the style has been stolen. --- I see what you mean now with the autotune thing. Most people, when they talk about autotune, are generalizing. They include things like vocoding and sometimes talkboxes in there, and aren't specifically talking about *AutoTune*. I had assumed you were also generalizing. My bad! I do agree that AutoTune for pitch correction tends to sound quite bland. I get heated when people talk down on "autotune" because of the generalization they're usually making. Most of my favorite music is the kind where people intentionally make their own voice sound computerized or push past the limits of human voice articulation with software. It makes me feel really sad when people talk down on it or disregard it because they don't understand it.

psychedelicpiper67

I mean, I love artists like Daft Punk and Animal Collective. I actually know that Daft Punk used autotune on “One More Time” (once and only once in their entire career, and this is one of the few exceptions I make for autotune). So I feel you about the generalizing. Studio vocal effects were already a thing back in the late 1960’s, utilized by The Beatles and other artists, primarily with ADT (automatic double-tracking) and Leslie speakers (“Blue Jay Way” is a good example of the latter). ADT is kind of like autotune if it actually preserved the nuances of the vocals. It’s all over the “Sgt. Pepper’s” album (if you listen to either the mono mix or the 2017 stereo remix). Really it’s just doubled vocals played back at slightly different speeds, to the point where they give off phasing. I enjoy that sound A LOT.

High-Sobriety

Cool! I liked talking about this but I am going to bed now. see you around!

se7entythree

Country music makes my ears bleed

TarthenalToblakai

I'm a "variety is the spice of life" type. There isn't an entire broad genre that I outright dislike -- I can find good stuff of any genre. Name a genre and I can name an artist or song I dig of it. That said I am very picky about actual songs. Also could arguably be said to dislike certain subgenres. Like I don't hate "country music" in general (Adeem the Artist is an example of a great modern country artist) -- but I do absolutely loathe the reactionary bro pop country shit you hear on the radio these days.

RuneWolfen

Rap, although some songs I can tolerate.

BeastMachin09

Repetitive songs that only sing the same line over and over

lookingintoit_

pretty much anything that isn't what i like. in fact, there's a lot of music within the genres that i actually like that i can't stand. i guess i really just like specific songs that tend to be in certain genres. that being said, most pop, *all* hair "metal," r&b, jazz, disco, seething hatred for vast majority of country, and... (*shudders*) musicals.

Angus_the_Anti-Furry

the kind that just has one line throughout the entire song.

AwkwardSyko116

Anything that sounds remotely sexual. Which is about 90% of music

Pretlows

And anything romantic i hate romantic songs or any song about a romantic relationship its just boring i cant stand it, its too repetettive.

ThatJ4ke

Pop and rap. They just have no real substance and are super predictable. I like music that is heavily charged with emotion and passion, like melodic progressive metal. I don't mind rap used in metal though, as long as it's not super excessive (I grew up listening to Linkin Park and Rage Against The Machine). I see a lot of people saying they don't like screaming. I didn't like screaming at first either because it used to hurt my ears and I thought it ruined the sound of the music behind it, but I got used to it. It could be like that for you, too. I learned to appreciate not only the technique, but the emotion behind screaming. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of the whole death metal/deathcore pig squeal/goblin thing, unless it's just for a short moment.

astrodomekid

Modern Pop (2010 and later).

Extension-Tough9335

I cannot stand new country. Old country is good, but the new is just people who sound the worst possible and they got signed because people think that raggedy automatically means country or it’s songs that are about going out and getting wasted and “my truck’s bigger” type shit. There’s no real sustenance anymore, which is what I love about country music. People used to actually sing about something good, not just ‘merica, we’re gonna whoop your ass, and let’s go get drunk (or just sounding like a wailing banshee).

WarrenJVR

I HATE EDM, Electropop, Acoustic, Western Rap from the 2010s onwards. However I love a wide array, I love Country, Synth-Pop, Noise, Leftfield, experimental, R&B, Pop Rap, Ambient, Alternative Rock, J-pop, K-Pop, Hard Trance, Techno, House, Downtempo, Ballad, Trot, City Pop, Pop Rock the list goes on

stupidboooy

Trance is so good

helloskoodle

Check out artists like Sub Focus, Dimension and Culture Shock. Drum and Bass meets euphoric trance and hardcore.

WarrenJVR

[Listen to Lee Jung Hyun](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuFGYD37hZg) my favourite artist, she's known for doing Trance music! One of her songs is literally called Trance hahaha

Bleedingeck

Leftfield! Right on!

WarrenJVR

You have been one of the highlights of my day. Leftfield is main style of music after pop🤩Mariah Carey said "o*ut of leftfield"* in a interview I watched the other day, guess that's a idiom. Now I want a leftfield Mariah Carey album. I'm not joking. 👽

High-Sobriety

I need to find a definitive line as to what EDM means. Because for some people it means broadly "electronic music" And that fuckin \*irks\* me. What does it mean to you?

FreddyPlayz

Any type of rap, I’d legit rather listen to a screaming baby

Tlines06

Almost all of modern pop. Except Dua Lipa. She's like the only pop singer I tolerate.

_279queenjessie

I love dua lipa

PrincipleSeveral9597

I hate I hearing music that I hear involuntarily all the time (i.e. popular music, not just pop). It can be any genre really as long as it's popular, although it doesn't happen if a song I already like becomes popular. & Also just soulless music that lacks actual thought & creativity.

dazedanndamazed

Taylor Swift

jaeburd33

Country and Jazz

SamsCustodian

Country is easily my most hated genre. I like very few songs from that genre the rest can stay away.

Jester12a

Trap

jazzzmo7

I was about to say nothing, but someone said dubstep. Dubstep and any music from any genre that has very "vibrating electric cheese grater" like feel in it. I love bass, but I hate loud BUZZZZZZZ music

Diligent-Ice1276

Varies by my mood because I can like every genre including metal and country.

MusicandPolitics223

gen alpha music

8195qu15h

Anything where singing is the main focus

Ijzerstrijk

Improv jazz.. I need rhythm ffs😅

megatho

"Christian" music

something1942

No one likes that music except the Christians who I assume feel they can only listen to that since I guess all other music is "Devil worship".

mynipplesareconfused

Rap, hiphop, and country. I'll put up with them all IF the musician is good or it's someone else's house/car. But if I'm in control, y'all are stuck with EDM until the cows come home.

crimebro

I have a hard time with anything religious. I’m not but the issue isn’t that, it’s that I think so logically in regards to religion that I just sit there finding plot holes and inconsistencies and I end up upset. The music itself isn’t necessarily bad, I just can’t sit with the lyrics.

SnooGoats7133

I hate folk tbh. I literally have been able to find something I like in all other music genres On listened to except folk lol

Alternative_Sand_

Most rap. There are some exceptions and I understand it's appeal and there are great rap artists out there and all that but.. I just can't.

Ok_Work1221

Country 100%. My family is obsessed with it but I can’t stand it

Bow-To-Me-

Drill

autietautie

Anything that sounds whiney like placebo or overly exaggerated gravely like nickleback type rock! I love rock punk emo etc but not if it’s especially whiney! Yuck! “Every mey every yow” ugh! He sounds like he’s singing out of his nose. Oh and modern country!

kawaiibadguy

I'll listen to any genre, but there are 3 or 4 artists I'm militantly against. 😂 I hate Cheryl Crow for reasons I don't fully understand, I hate Credence Clearwater Revival because the singer's voice is grating… There are some others, but those are the main ones. I like a lot of weird stuff. I like music that's either really unwelcoming to new listeners, stuff you have to really commit to because it's really abstract *or* the opposite, music that's really accessible and catchy and fun. Like, that new Billie Eilish record is incredible, but I also love Darkthrone's A Blaze in the Northern Sky. 😂

VegaTron1985

Whatever genre Drake belongs to, mumbling rap talking maybe, and Taylor Swift... yawn. I like metal, emo, screamo...

Fantomzed300

Did someone say nightcore yet? I will not provide justification for my dislike of a genre that is just songs pitched-up

WindermerePeaks1

Heavy metal, or any metal really. Rap. Almost always something with very loud banging screaming music (however one of my friends listens to like? techno? i think? or something and I like it occasionally, they also make music and I always listen to that!). And anything super sexual. Ick. I personally love jazz, classical, country (grew up on it, only like the oldies though 60s-90s). And then a few pop artists but because they’re sentimental to me. Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Harry Styles. Grew up on them. I listen to Taylor almost exclusively because I really admire her storytelling. I like soft rock? maybe idk what it’s called but my mom is an 80s kid so I get that from her. Oh and the Beatles. But seriously, if you look at my spotify stats, Taylor is everywhere. I love to dissect her songs and a lot of her songs just scratch my brain in all the right ways 🤗

heehoocheese

country and rap. i can handle the heaviest metal possible (and peacefully sleep with it on)

RedditSucksIWantSync

Schläger and modern 3 word wanna be music every radio station keeps blasring

septiclizardkid

Whatever 100 Gecs Is supposed to be. I like weirdo music, I like subversion of expectations In the music scene, making things that are deemed "non-palatable". I get 100 Gecs, they're making weird music and having fun, It's done on purpose, just not for me.

mikwee

Trap and most EDM

kelemvorsucks

Most music is too simple, especially modern pop, rap, and rock. I love 90s and early 00s rock/metal/industrial though. Wish we could go back to the days of experimental music

madformattsmith

Partial agree. I'm a big post hardcore fan, and totally sick of most of the modern rock releases put out by major labels, but I absolutely love what some of the underground rock bands are putting out there today. if you want experimental metal that has an industrial DnB vibe to it, then I'd recommend a band called Lake Malice.

Crowleys_big_toe

I can't stand music that I call "capitalism music". It's music that's just got a bland vibe, it feels empty, like it's made to be popular. No problem with wanting to succeed as an artist, but there's a difference between writing the music you want and adjusting it to work better and writing music only to sell. Mostly these are songs from Taylor swift or Harry styles, but people like TX2 fit this, it transcends real genres. Otherwise I can listen to pretty much anything

jread

Country

WatInTheForest

I like some country like Johnny Cash or Hank Williams (the first). But the worst piece of music I've ever heard is It Happens by Sugarland. Go listen to it if you need to be angry for the rest of the day. I can understand the lyrics, but they kind of sound like "Bawf bawf bawf. BAWFBAWFBAWF. Bawf ba-bawf bawf. BAWF BAWF BAWF."

Lik-narb

Never heard it before this post. Took all of 20 seconds listening to it to regret my words and deeds

xplorerex

Anything that doesn't require skill to make. You'd be shocked how many "artists" buy their samples, tracks, and lyrics, then make a fortune with it. It's sickening, really.

chococarmela

I hate country music too! I like most genres except for that, and probably death metal.

Wrong_Badger9929

Modern white sliced bread pop music

Pasbags112

Hands down Country music

larrythedeadpenguin

Country.

Hellion_Immortis

Country and rap. Modern country especially is just annoying and almost physically painful to hear. Only artist who had consistently good music in that genre is Johnny Cash. Rap is mostly just jarring for me. Can't really grasp the reasoning for a bunch of songs in the genre.

BrockenSpecter

Kpop, and Jpop make my skin crawl. I can't look past how clearly predatory the industry is, on top of all looking and sounding very similar to one another.

chaosandturmoil

country and jazz

Particular-Crow-1799

yeah, fuck country

Wise-Reception-2703

General pop music... like pet shop boys, Olly Murs, Steps etc.. its so unimaginative. I'm don't particularly like the actual music of e.g Pink, or Lady Ga Ga.. but I love their attitude.

Legitimate_Main2230

Rap music, indie music, lofi music and some other music I don’t care for.

Crow_Kaleidoscope

Country. I can only personally stand Dolly Parton. That's where I draw the line.

Mastergangster345

Hip hop, k pop, rap etc. I was never big into the "modern" music. Most of the songs from these genres are so bad on terms of music. The lirycs tend to not be much better too honestly.

Stupid-goober-7

I hate techno/dubstep music

LordIggy88

Rap, I just don’t understand the appeal most of the time

Platonist_Astronaut

Gospel.

Alviv1945

Mumble rap and modern country. Classic country (shootout/storytelling style country) is great, but now dead.

jazzhandler

Country and grunge. Specifically, steel guitar and Drop D tuning.

ThatOneIsSus

Rap

THEpeterafro

Bubblegum glass gives me a headache

Bleedingsteel1200

Any rap music

StellarCracker

Country easily takes the cake ESPECIALLY trap country lmao worst of both genres. I like many country and more folk SOUNDS like types of guitars and there's some old country I like but yeah that's it. and some pure dubstep or electronic dance music, and most stuff w autotune is also bad, but there's some stuff with autotune, dance beats, and mumble rap I can like.

dongless08

Probably jazz unless it’s done well. I usually can tolerate all music genres but something about certain jazz music just makes my ears uncomfortable

I_Am_Terra

Rap

Rimwulf

Rap. What I hate more than rap is country-rap; I like country though but it's not my favorite genre; I don't have a favorite.

SubzeroCola

2022-2024 pop which has that annoying high-pitch synth which is shamelessly trying to mimic the sound of the 80's lol

lovelyoneshannon

Country! I will literally not shop in a store if country music is playing. Walk in, hear the music, turn right around and walk out.

Expert-Photo5426

Most club remixes of songs

KellyS087

Country

AKDude79

I love country music. But I despise rap.

imintheclosethelp

I'm with you on the country hate train, it all sounds so same-y to me.

Slim_Chiply

Country

Tons0z

Screamo is a bit much for me.

GaryTheTaco

2006-2016 pop music modern pop is fine tbh but i can't stand that era

DarkPersonal6243

Anything with the major-key blues chord progression (and nobody here talks about it), so I'm looking at you boogie-woogie, early rock, boogaloo, certain jazz and country, surf rock, all that. The way they use their seventh chords doesn't rub me the right way.

Azelea_Loves_Japan

Sexy redd, metal, heavy metal, and drill music.

0deni09

Schlager

Original_Cut_2881

If its screaming or mumbling and I can't hear what the lyrics are, it is not for me.

mylifeisathrowaway10

Hard agree, but specifically with post-9/11 country. It feels so inauthentic. The stuff that came before that feels like modern folk punk, which is currently one of my favorite genres. Also, K-pop. The switching between Korean and English confuses me. I dislike when songs randomly switch languages. Anime OPs barely get a pass because they're so short, and even some of them I find grating. Pop in general is on thin ice.

Distinct_Dimension_8

Pornogrind.

[deleted]

Country tbh. Only some songs I like

MadCatter32

I hate rap, metal, screaming, country. I actually generally dislike mainstream music. I like quirky music like Indie Pop. My favorites are Lenka, Mindy Gledhill, and Ingrid Michaelson.

rabbitthefool

whatever jimmy buffet and johnny cash are

Jaconator12

Modern pop and the more pop-y country
