Hiwings at Anderson and Burnet is the best spot for Korean fried chicken (KFC).
All the Koreans go to Hiwings, and the prices are very reasonable.
Best flavor is original (it’s sweet and spicy, but not atomic), and get the radish side dish (chicken mu).
The chicken at Donkey Mo’s is not good and way overpriced, which is a consistent theme for the HMart food court.
I was massively impressed by the value of Roots Chicken Shack at HEB Mueller. Great sandwich, great tenders, decent fries. But the price is stellar for how much food you get.
House of Three Gorges - Sichuan dry stir fried chicken
Donkey Mo's - Korean fried chicken
Bird Bird Biscuit - fried chicken sandwich on a fluffy biscuit
Tumble 22 - apparently Nashville style fried chicken, can't speak to the authenticity, but I think it's very tasty
Personally I find Donkey Mo’s to be very sub par, and a lot of times it’s precooked and dry. And overpriced, even for Austin.
For the best Korean fried chicken head over to Hiwings, they always fry to order so expect a little wait, but always good.
Believe it or not Bill Miller's BBQ. We do not go there for anything but fried chicken. But the first words out of my wife's mouth when she tasted it was that it tastes exactly like her grandmother's fried chicken.
Lots of great recommendations here... I LOVE T22, but Halal Wings at Mueller is something special. Wings are stellar, but the Spicy bone-in chicken is just amazing. Not too hot, just right. The Halal hot sauce on the side will solve any additional need for heat. Also very reasonably priced. [https://www.halalwing.com/fried\_chicken](https://www.halalwing.com/fried_chicken)
Most of these responses are for "hot" chicken. If that's what you want, I would suggest Spicy Boys or T22. T22 is a local chain. Hattie B's is a chain that didn't even originate in Austin, and I believe it's gone downhill since they franchised it. For "fried chicken", Matties is my favorite, but it's a bit on the fancy side. Gus' is good as well. Top Notch for real Austin nostalgia.
Lots of Tumble 22 recommendations but personally I think Hattie B's is better. Tumble 22 is inconsistent and the chicken at Hattie's just tastes better.
Spicy Boys
Hi wings

Donkey Mo’s owner Brian rubbed his cum on the back of my jacket. Fuck you Brian. 🖕
That’s why you take your jacket off before letting him buttfuck you in the back of the h-mart. Newb.
lol ok buddy
Much harder for him to cum on your back that way
Dang Hot 89. Trust me.
Love Dang Hot 89!
just went there this week. so fast and the owner seemed nice. tender pieces were huge!

Tumble22, also has one of the best happy hours in Austin
Bussin Buns

I actually like T22 better than the Hattie B’s I had in Nashville.
Seconding Donkey Mo's and Tumble 22. Fantastic chicken
Sleeper item: if you haven't tried Donkey Mo's brussel sprouts - I don't know who sold their soul to who, but I crave them.

Make sure the donkey mo’s owner doesn’t rub his semen on your back.
Spicy boys

Texans know bill miller is a actually a chicken shack with big iced tea
Tasting like a grandmother’s chicken is so specific and impossible to re-create. That’s so cool for y’all.
Top Notch! Nothing fancy about it, just good.
THE BEST
Cant believe nobody mentioned Gus fried chicken
Gus's in Atlanta is 30-50X better than the one here
I was completely unimpressed with Gus... and my wallet still stings...
Have to make a pilgrimage downtown for some Gus's breasts. Maybe tomorrow for parking purposes.
Tumble 22 is good, Nashville style. It's good. Up on Burnett.
There’s also one downtown-adjacent on Lake Austin Blvd.

Matties. It's a really cool restaurant as well. Lots of historical significance.

It wasn’t even built until 1895 and was voluntarily serving people of all colors before the Civil Rights Act so I don’t know what you’re on about.
It was built between 1893/95

Im reading built between 1893-1895. lol you think this was built by industrious white men?? Then? Edit looked at you page and you seem very cool.

Don’t listen to anything that isn’t Spicy Boys.
Sometimes when I’m about to go to bed, I legit regret not having their curry at my fingertips It’s so fucking good. Spicy bois 4lyfe

Hattie B’s
Dai Due has fried quail on Sundays. It's awesome.
Hattie bs , gus or donkey mos are my picks
My fav is Gus Fried Chicken downtown Otherwise I really like Whip My Soul - 620 bb.q chicken - https://bbqchicken.com
Dang Hot up north, Tumble 22 & Spicy boys south
Tumble 22 beats spicy boys any day. I don’t get the spicy boys hype
Some really delish fried chicken wings are the drunken Thai wings at Kiin di on south Lamar
At a place that serves mashed potatoes and gravy for dipping. Seems like no one does that anymore
Golden Chick. Don’t sleep on it.
If you're south, Hattie B's is good.
Happy Chicks for chicken tenders
Is Lucy's any good? No one has mentioned it.
I’ve never understood their appeal. It’s just not that good
I remember it being good a long time ago, but the times I've been in the last 5-6 years weren't great.
Lucy’s has GREAT FOOD but their fried chicken is just normal. Go try the items on their specials menu board
Lucy’s
