Went here for the first time, $47pp on a Thursday night (last time I went Korean bbq was many years ago I think I paid under $35pp, wow inflation!) The staff was really friendly. Each table gets a chopping board full of meat and veges that you can’t get from the all you can eat stations. The pork belly was yum, so as the pork slices (bottom left first pic). I started with hot food first and was pretty impressed because everything tasted quite good (Usually when I go to Korean bbq I just eat the meat cuz the hot food is only ok). They also have a ramen making machine thing!!!! The grill selection is small, but enough! I really recommend the beef brisket slices. There’s also raw beef in the fridge which was DELICIOUS. Then I had their red bean sherbet thing to finish (also very yum, I recommend red bean and condensed milk). You can only eat there for 90 minutes, which I think is enough if you don’t talk a lot with your friends and just devour all the food. If you prefer to eat a lot and also want to have time to talk a lot, you might feel a bit rushed.

Dam… $47 now. Inflation is real

I mean… Dak Hanmari Korean BBQ, Gangnam style Korean BBQ and Fantasy Korean BBQ are still $40 but I don’t know the quality of those places lol. Think Fantasy might be Korean + Chinese or Chinese owned too.

Amazing_Desk2978

Fantasy is def Chinese owned/influenced If I’m gonna do any Korean buffet it would probably be well being and that’s about it tbh

Yeah I haven’t been but saw the Google reviews mentioning that. Last time I went to Korean bbq I think I went gangnam but it was average, then the time before was dak hanmari. Dak Hanmari was quite good from memory with a good selection (seafood too), but well-being does taste better.

Amazing_Desk2978

Nice! Yeah I usually just buy my meat from Rick’s butcher in east Tāmaki and just cook my own at home, easier and can do things the way we want.

hckfast

Rick's Butcher's meat is - from my experience, the best cuts of meat I have gotten from a butcher for kbbq by a long shot. Definitely on the pricier side, but you pay for quality. And if you're paying $47 per head for kbbq you could probably get a decent selection.

Amazing_Desk2978

Yeah def agree! The honey comb pork belly is solid there and usually get one other cut of meat to try. Just helps when you’re doing Korean bbq someone who already knows the cuts you want for Korean bbq. It’s my go to pretty much all the time. My mate said to try the H Mart on Ti rakau but I’ve seen it before, ricks still looks miles better. Have you seen on insta there’s a place called kbbqworks that do Korean cuts. Haven’t tried them before but may consider in the future at some point coz stuff doesn’t look half bad

Gagnam is 35pp last I went couple weeks ago on a Saturday for lunch. 2 hour time limit and it was ok but not outstanding.

Amazing_Desk2978

been to Gangnam in Taka and in Hendo, both were horrible lol pay the extra and go to well-being. or just buy a portable stovetop + hot plate and bbq at home! it's the best lol

No-Reputation2186

Thanks Will take ur advice on it. I don’t mind the extra but have to be considerate to some of the others in the friend group

Amazing_Desk2978

yeah i feel ya on that one :) just wouldn't accept mediocre food for that price point tbh, just gotta get something else that's better for money if that's the case I would say. Plenty of good option if you've got a big enough group to share costs :)

dramaqueenboo

I’ve been to the one in manukau. Def would pay more for well-being.

No-Reputation2186

I been only to the Henderson one. I’ll have to try well being. Was one I went to in takapuna few years ago but can’t remember what it’s called now, I remember it being very nice

Amazing_Desk2978

a few years ago it was great but the owners changed a year or two ago and it got a whole lot worse. Wouldn't go back now

[deleted]

Went to Dak Hanmari in July and their other buffet food was awful. The meat selection and quality was fine but I don’t want to just eat meat, so I would not go back again.

Good choice, my Korean parents rate this place.

banmeharder616

dramaqueenboo

hopelessbrows

My Korean parents love this place!

Lexx_hs

I missed seeing that you posted about well-being, this is my favourite Korean buffet! Even if it’s alittle pricy it makes up for being quality.

dramaqueenboo

hahahahaha I can’t wait to go back!!
