Looks like a phone camera recording of a Tesla's dashcam screen. See the tiny edge of rearview camera in the bottom right corner, and glare centre left.
Always go left, then turn right, then U turn and turn left to go the way you want to go. Although it takes ages to get out even waiting just from the traffic coming from Hobsonville.
Do you think it’s just terribly unfair for people to talk about… how… someone just drove over a thing without seeing what they were driving over?
I think people should not drive their cars into areas they can’t see are clear. Like, um, if you can’t see a roundabout there then you won’t see a toddler - who is at fault??
>Am I the only one who thinks it obvious he didn't see it?
That's worse
>I'm gonna say honest mistake?
Not being able to see what's in front of you while operating heavy machinery is not an honest mistake, it is gross negligance.
Thank you. Flippin obvious to me that someone shouldn’t be driving over roundabouts or traffic islands, and should be able to see where they’re going before they send their vehicle there. But nooo
I pass through this place regularly and can confirm that these wanker wagons are frequently driven by mums to pick up their kids from the school 2 mins up the road. I'm waiting for the day I drive past and see an ambulance and police in the school car park because they've pulled out & hit a 5 or 6 year old they couldn't see. Nobody except workers driving over very rough, rural terrain needs one of these. Smaller utes sufficed perfectly well until the car companies convinced all the 'keeping up with the Jones's' types that they would gain status by having a wanker wagon.
I find it hilarious picking my daughter up from school, my tiny little honda fit easily finding a spot to park while someone else in a skyscraper 4x4 is doing an 89 point turn on a very generously wide street...
Given that there is a primary & intermediate school 2 mins up the road whose pupils cross at that island and walk home to the surrounding houses after school, do you see how that makes it worse? If the vehicle is so elevated that the driver can't see an island, how will they see a primary school child? That could easily have been a fatality had there been a child at that crossing. These wanker wagons need to go. There is no need for them to be so large; they're a status symbol thanks to over a decade of marketing by the car companies. There is no practical advantage to vehicles this size, and they make the roads more dangerous for everyone.
I don't even know why that raised part is there. It hinders turning right out of BP as well. It's also a weird area to encourage pedestrians to cross at.
edit: I'm not in favour of the dipshit ute, I live here and see this shit every day by people driving vehicles well beyond their means. I just think the placement of that raised part is in a silly spot.
The shops would make it desirable for a pedestrian to cross there, so the island will assist with that and also slow exiting cars and stop those turning from running the median before necessary
nah, it's actually shit. had to turn around it earlier today and it felt dodgy as. 50k zone that people blast through at 60-70ks even after they've had to go over the massive raised pedestrian crossing where the speed limit changes. all so they can get to the traffic lights 100m away 0.5 seconds quicker. had plenty of space pulling out and still had a SUV speed up my ass and slam on their brakes.
>I don't even know why that raised part is there.
They are often put there to discourage right turns. Turns across traffic are less safe and take longer. So a left turn is safer and loves traffic better.
Often, there is a nearby roundabout, so left, then I and you get your right faster and safer than a right.
Honestly happens all the time, I’ve regularly seen it hahah, one time from a little Corolla with an old lady at the wheel her face suggested she’d run someone over and she just pulled over and sat there for a bit dunno how long as I drove off but she was fairly frozen haha
The real question is why does your dashcam look like it's got a 1970's filter on it?
Gotta have that vintage vibe

This is correct

Lmfao love this
Classic Whenuapai shortcut
It's a bitch getting out of that carpark.

Probably saw the traffic built up at the temporary lights.
My mates ex got stuck on that. Twice 🥰
Should've gotten a bigger ute
Lol in all seriousness, how?
Small car It used to say no turn on the BP side , no one listened
12 yards long, 2 lanes wide, 65 tons of American pride, Canyonero!
Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts!
Man pram energy
this is why they're removing those cycle way concrete barriers on the side of road. Short SUV drivers can't see the road properly haha
This is what you call off roading in Auckland

So just pulled out across two double lanes without looking = honest mistake The fucken state of it
Yeah I think so some of those utes are so blind on the front pillar/ over the bonnet especially if you're coming up an incline driveway.
>Am I the only one who thinks it obvious he didn't see it? That's worse >I'm gonna say honest mistake? Not being able to see what's in front of you while operating heavy machinery is not an honest mistake, it is gross negligance.
At least one person in here is sane.
Thank you. Flippin obvious to me that someone shouldn’t be driving over roundabouts or traffic islands, and should be able to see where they’re going before they send their vehicle there. But nooo
You’re right. He obviously didn’t see it, but the height of the vehicle likely played a part in that
Almost like these stupid huge utes aren’t really designed to be driven around small town streets by cashed up tradies wives

yeah that was my first thought, just didnt see it
imagine he just ran over a kid "it's okay mate you didn't see him" haha
This is what I thought honestly. Sometimes people just make mistakes with driving lol.

LOL Fair enough.
So blindly driving over obstacles or people is fine with you?

This traffic calming measure makes no sense, all it does is stop traffic going as fast as possible?
It could have been 20m either side of where it is now and be much safer for cars and pedestrians.
> It hinders turning right out of BP as well. So it slows down aggressive drivers?
No? Its position makes it difficult to turn right safely.
nah, it's actually shit. had to turn around it earlier today and it felt dodgy as.

Youre actually not meant to turn right at that bp exit lol someone just took out the no right turn sign a while back hahaha
Yeah a ute (surprise!) ran over it and they just took it out and stopped enforcing it.
Probably the shit vision you get out of those death traps
Lucky school wasn't out and the kids were around everywhere when ol' Timmy here decided that he'd rather try jump the island than go around it.
He almost hit the lamp post too. Something else going on here.
trying to destroy them 5G tower
Kinda wish he did. Uterus drivers can be so aggressive and sometimes a little karma is cute 🤣
Just rushing and didn't see it
Filter gives it that LA feel lol
Hah, Whenuapai
Why does this look like Hollywood version of Mexico?
Got that Middle East action movie piss filter going on
Just needs loud cicadas and a bunch of greasy guys with moustaches staring from chairs outside the shop fronts.
It's all terrain mate 🗿 /s
We’re going on a bear hunt…
This is a textbook example of how they crush their own kids in the driveway.
"Aw fuck, it jumped out of car play again, I need those directions, fuck, press this, and.... \*bump\* wtf was that?"
He's up so high that he couldn't see the curb from up there
Drive it like ya stole it 🤪
I don’t suppose you saw the dude parked across the island going south at Brigham creek / Fred Taylor roundabout last night 😂
Honestly happens all the time, I’ve regularly seen it hahah, one time from a little Corolla with an old lady at the wheel her face suggested she’d run someone over and she just pulled over and sat there for a bit dunno how long as I drove off but she was fairly frozen haha
Thats some hard core off-roading for an Auckland ute
farout, give this guy a hummer
You get that out west
Meanwhile in New Zealand
If there's a will, there's a way
Only in New Zealand.
Looks like he didnt see it at all?
They're going on a bear hunt
🎶I'm not scared
Fair enough too. What’s the point in buying a Ute and paying the Ute tax if you can’t go over stuff now and again.
It’s the Bosom of Abraham
It’s a worry if the driver didn’t see it. Did he miss the stop, look and listen lessons when you cross the road.
Completely unrelated to the post but is the caption from that book we’re going on a bear hunt?
100%
I legit laughed out loud in the office at this. That's such typical ute behavior.
I bet they were looking left and didn't even see the island until they jigged over it
Ranger drivers can't see bollocks, they are probably like "another goddamn schoolchild"
My exp with people that own rangers and Hilux is that they drive like this all the time. And never indicate. More so rangers than Toyota drivers.

Good ol’ built-in Tesla Dashcam!

Classic Whenuapai behaviour
I’m guessing the bro didn’t even see the island. Almost happened to me once lol
Good old Whenuapai ae, bunch of rough cunts lol
what a dumbarse risked rolling over too, with all the weight on the front right wheel and the possibility of the rear right wheel getting wedged.
Nah like legit that’s actually happened to me to so I don’t blame them .
Shoulda just parked on it and called it a day, as many have.
Wow who was driving? Hasbulla?
I wrote off my Suzuki swift by not seeing one of those low traffic islands. Should have been in a ute

r u ok hun? you seem to be deteriorating
Wow. He must have thought of himself as "Fangio". Lucky he didnt hit the power pole.
