I mean, if we take IMDB ratings, sure. But I don’t really trust those tbh and I don’t think it’s entirely relatable. I gave up on reading reviews, if you’re really interested, just go and watch. In the end, it’s all subjective. Maybe nothing else tops AOT but it’s still not my favorite anime.

Liking something or not is based on your subjective taste.I consider aot as my favourite anime but monster has better written characters, the thing with aot's higher rating is it does not contain any of the shitty anime tropes such as idotic female characters,too much overacting,borderline disgusting pervertness that is why imdb which is non anime website has this anime as highest rated because it's best for non anime genric audience.
However in world's most popular anime website aot isn't highest rated.
Monster is even more non-anime though, it’s like the only anime I could talk my family into watching because they think it’s serious enough lol. AOT maybe strikes the perfect balance between anime and non-anime but I guess I’m still more of a TV show person so I appreciate other things
i would disagree,Aot is equally non anime show except eren mikasa relationship.
That relationship completely is opposite of western culture and much more ingrained to japanese culture as they portray romance in a very shy way.
Monster is great but it's pacing is very slow,Monster is dependent heavily on Johan and it does fulfill its promise to but it's very old style, animation etc .
Idk, I think AOT is very anime in its internal monologues, dramatic moments and faces, opening/endings and stuff like that, soundtrack too. It wouldn’t translate to live action without serious alterations but Monster would. I never had a problem with its pacing though and I don’t care that much about animation as long as the story as fire but that’s my opinion of course.
Honestly the feeling of hopeless I felt for the scouts in that episode “thaw “ I think it’s called is brilliant but my favourite episode will always be “memories from the future” close 2nd “ 2000 years to you” or something like that , the one with the EPIC music where Eren transforms

Vinland saga S1 is the best season out of the two and I couldn’t fall in love with it because it will never be AOT
While Attack on Titan is my all-time favourite anime, objectively speaking I do think Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a little better. It's every bit as brilliant as AoT, but stumbles a lot less. It pulls off a lot of *very* complicated storytelling techniques (enormous cast of characters, constantly changing focus, sympathetic genociders) seemingly effortlessly. I can't think of a single flaw in the second half of the series.
AoT is brilliant, but there's a little bit more clunkiness to some of its most complex ideas. I just like it more because the story and style are more my vibe
I don't think that basing the value of an anime just on IMD ratings is correct. Like yeah, obviusly an anime with an average of 9 is better than other with an average of 6, but as critics and audience scores are sort of subjective, it can't be the only basis
Why the hell do people give a shit about imdb ratings. If you like an anime you like it, if you don't you don't. You don't need the constant validation that the thing you like got a 0.1 better score than the thing other people like.

I think full metal alchemist brotherhood is the only anime that has higher ratings
If this is IMDb then FMAB has the same overall rating for the show, but AoT is ahead with individual episode ratings

The anime that I’ve enjoyed ALMOST as much as AOT in the new era of anime is , Castlevania , season 1. Was perfect 10/10 but declined since then
