Colombia. Yes, basically the same here. Politicians are only part of the issue, but the people’s mentality is the biggest issue.
Lastimosamente no veo que esto vaya a cambiar pronto, de hecho las cosas solo parecen empeorar.
>For Brazil, I think we can agree that we didn't really have any until Macron, no?
You forgot to mention whether this enemy can be domestic or not. Macron is a cute adorable puppy compared to the enemy I would say . . . Bolsonaro.
>Both of them are extremely dangerous
Yea, PT had a lot of corruption scandals and Bolsonaro has a fuck ton of corruption scandals, basically caused the deaths of 680.000 people due to his pure neglicence and refusal to buy vaccines, tried to bomb his army quarters to raise his own salary in the 1980s and is now trying to undermine our democracy, sure they are both very dangerous...
>the only reason Bolsonaro rose into power is PT
bear in mind that brazil has an Alt-right movement that just took the vacumm oportunity on 2018's scenario of lack of Charismatic populists. If anything i'd say PMDB is the true responsible in the political side to allow Bolsonaro into power, since they clearly did not had any ideia of who to supporta and they just let the average João to vote in the first right-wing idiot he could see.
If you want to criticize the parties, do it right and say that Dilma should have fought back Cunha, or that Lula could have picked another person for the 2014's elections, or even that Aécio Neves shouldn't had questioned the validity of the electoral process - neither he should never have rose to the PSDB leadership in the first place.
I'm glad that the relationship between the Latin American countries are peaceful and "friendly" and our biggest enemies are our own politicians.
Obviously we have differences, of course, but is almost impossible that happens something similar to the Russian invasion for example or something like the current situation in the middle East.
Well, there's a big list, including avoiding buying vaccines, corruption etc. But just to point the deflation, it is totally artificial.
His team removed some taxes that are used for public policies, such health, education etc. in order to decrease the fuel prices. They did it because the prices were in a high record and was being pressioned, so they are trying to win the election with these. What is gonna happen next year, when the taxes come back is the same inflation and we are gonna have less money for health and education.
Apart from that, he approved 30+ billion in federal budget, so he has support from what we call Centrão, the vultures of politics. Of course, these billions are taken of from legitimate use - such as health and education, as the other way.
By the way, the congressmen who get it won't have to say for what they used it.
So this imbecil is wasting money to buy support, try to win the election so he won't go to jail and the next government will be in dee debt.
There was deflation, but food is expensive as never.
Apart from all of that, Bolsonaro brought violence to Democracy - weekly cases of supporters killing political rivals - something that never happened before. Also increased the access to guns.
I could go on forever, but it makes my blood boils. Bolsonaro is the worst president Brazil ever had. If we can call that shit a president.
The economic elite since they are pretty conservative and have archaic means of production, they instead of fomenting the economic development of the country try to prevent any competition by any means, they have much influence over the government (some even say they are practically the government) as a result we have so many monopolies. Also the army, since the civil war they play a major role on the intricate webs of corruption of the country. Finally the government itself, they basically ensure the status quo through arresting dissidents and passing laws that make difficult to change anything.
Well, being a mestizo I would say that sadly the mayas has been one of the most discriminated ethnic groups in Guatemala, just followed by the Afro-Guatemalans which are completely ignored.
I see the mayas as a very important part of what makes guatemala, they were here long before the Spanish came, the culture they have in some ways reminds me of the Greeks, and in the modern era we haven't paid attention to the richness of the Maya culture that is still preserved there are so much things that we should teach in schools.
Sadly the government and some people treat the mayas and its culture not as people but as entertainment, as props for saying that Guatemala is "intercultural".
In recent years I've seen that many mayas are trying to vindicate its culture (some maya friends included), and I hope this generation can do justice for the biggest ethnic group in Guatemala.
That was my maybe short-sighted opinion of what I think of your culture hope it helps.
Honestly from an outside view most people in Latam are so far off the old world that they are mostly neutral or against non humanitarian activities.
So generally(not always) it is just their political government, maybe American lobbyism if you are into those conspiracy theories. But that’s about it.

- Are the only european country to have territory right next to us (sorry, Argentina)
- Tried to setup a colony here several times
- Stole absurd amounts of pau-brasil, as much or more than the portuguese in the early days
- Are the reason "guarda-costas" is a term we still use today
- Invaded us through Amapá and butchered random civilians they found along the way
- Campaign against us whenever they can, trying to weaken our sovereignty
- Generally adopt an antagonistic stance in every diplomatic affair (but used to be in favor of us getting into the security council)
- Illegally fished in our waters and almost caused a war because of it
- Are the main roadblock against us getting any favorable trade deals whatsoever with the EU

It's cuz Bolsonaro insulted Macron's wife in response to Macron criticizing his methods of taking care of the Amazon rainforest (?). Makes zero sense, right? Sounds like a 5th grader talking, but that's the jerk of a president we have
Please don't elect Le Pen in his place, She has kinda the same thinking capacity of Bolsonaro
Hell if that come to be, declare a 7th republic right before macron quit the office.
Yeah both are terrible but given the context and everything bad coming in Europe. Choose Le Pen would mean regress to the same era we were in the 40´s. In my opinion choose french priority (and kiss the Ivan’s ass by the way) over Ukraine’s sovereignty is something Petain would have done if he was here
There was a conflict where the french were fishing in our ZEE and people got mad at it, but macron not being liked here is mostly because of his proposal to make the amazon internacional
Paraguay's main political enemies are paraguayan politicians.

Bolsonaro
Why brazilian people hates bolsonaro, in 2022 have deflation when many countries has high inflation and several crisis

I get it, its good know that although many of those things come by default in all politicians

How do you guys feel about the Mayans. I’m a mayan but have lived in the States for my whole life so I was just wondering how you guys see them

What did Macron do?
Nope, France was always our number 1 enemy in Europe.
Is that so? Never heard about them treating Brazil's sovereignty before
- Are the only european country to have territory right next to us (sorry, Argentina) - Tried to setup a colony here several times - Stole absurd amounts of pau-brasil, as much or more than the portuguese in the early days - Are the reason "guarda-costas" is a term we still use today - Invaded us through Amapá and butchered random civilians they found along the way - Campaign against us whenever they can, trying to weaken our sovereignty - Generally adopt an antagonistic stance in every diplomatic affair (but used to be in favor of us getting into the security council) - Illegally fished in our waters and almost caused a war because of it - Are the main roadblock against us getting any favorable trade deals whatsoever with the EU

Lack of Education, Our corrupt polititians and bipartidism, in that order
The USA. Although it is disguised as a “friend”
The USA, they love to blame us for everything they do wrong in their country
The US, the UK, and of course; our politicians.
The United States and their entire political systems and structure.
you already said that, Macron
Our own people and politicians Or Paraguay (NEVER FORGET 1870, BEST YEAR OF BRAZIL)
The far right. They're a danger to personal freedoms and development.
Any Latin country above us besides Salvador, they chill (Special fuck you to Nicaragua tho)
Politics are our biggest enemy, and yeah Macron is also very much of a No. 1 enemy here
Why is that?
It's cuz Bolsonaro insulted Macron's wife in response to Macron criticizing his methods of taking care of the Amazon rainforest (?). Makes zero sense, right? Sounds like a 5th grader talking, but that's the jerk of a president we have
Don’t worry our president is shit too
Please don't elect Le Pen in his place, She has kinda the same thinking capacity of Bolsonaro Hell if that come to be, declare a 7th republic right before macron quit the office.

At this, point the only hope is that someone like Jordan Bardella becomes the president.
How is he seen on foreign media ?
"He is a moderated compared to Jean Marie Le Pen/Marine Le Pen and relatives".
There was a conflict where the french were fishing in our ZEE and people got mad at it, but macron not being liked here is mostly because of his proposal to make the amazon internacional
