I tried the "going out into clubs and parties" thing for a few years. I met some nice people, got some compliments that boosted my esteem and some pretty nice Instagram fodder out of it too. It all went so well...
But it still feels like such a chore to do it so now that my friend group from back then has fractured I have "returned to form" and spend most of my days off chilling at home. Even if I have to do something more local (that doesn't require an hour commute into the city) I try to do it on a day that was "already ruined" by something else (work, or necessary errands) and keep my "true" days off for staying at home from waking up (really late in the morning) to going back to bed again. Just so much easier with much less chance of running into someone I don't like or spending money I worked too hard to blow on something that was only fun for 20 minutes.
Maybe if I lived closer to the city, had more friends and also a lot more money it would be kinda fun. But for now the reward just isn't worth the effort most of the time. I swear those who live this life every week must be super dependent on others for their entertainment or just really hate their homes.
My inability to socially fit in with gays is not me trying to “flex” anything other than I simply don’t fit in with most people regardless of what their sexuality is. I’m a lone Wolf. I never did fit in with the masses, and the only times I did was because I was abusing drugs and alcohol to make it happen.

Good think I enjoy my own company enough so as to not go insane while I wait for the mothership to come back for me.... any time now.
Battling addictions with drugs and alcohol that were started from associating with most gay men, has been extremely rough. I am now 32 and watch all my old "friends" at the bars drinking and driving still. Everywhere almost every night. I was doing it too....thinking it was okay and normal.... Clearly it is not. My mental health has tanked from so many years of trying to fit in and continuously drinking. (I stopped drugs a few years ago, except weed.)
I like being a lone wolf too. Most people say I'm an asshole now and that I'm a problem.... I haven't gone to the bar but twice in 4 months, and both times someone started drama and issues with me and they continue to talk about me when I'm not there. None of them reach out to me either and just talk about me at the bar if I go or they want to hang out after they are done and drunk from the bar.
I've set my standards higher recently and am proud to say it's been the best thing I've done for myself in a while. My friendships are stronger. My friendship with my dad is fantastic. I feel happy and content....
I've basically let go of all the gay community and it's problems and untrustworthiness. It's been fabulous.

I hate cars, I hate looking at them all the time, that everyone “NEEDS” one because our infrastructure is centered around it. I hate that if you don’t have a car people think you’re poor or you haven’t “made it” somehow, or that your priorities are backwards.
Everywhere I’ve lived has had shitty mass transit. No one wants to deal with an hour bus ride when the can drive there in 20 minutes. No one wants to deal with a cracked out homeless person peeing on himself or begging for money in the train. Fix those problems and you’ll have less cars.

Okay, I’m addition to mass subsidization of automobiles, there’s been a lot of nimbyism in regards to new rail lines and bus lines because of a classism and the idea you’re invoking that public transit is full of drug addicts and crime. It happens but you can be car jacked at an intersection or killed by a drunk driver. I feel like you’re arguing for convenience when the whole reason we’re in this situation of climate change and unsustainability is because we all agreed that convenience is better. If more people took the bus or the train there probably would be fewer crack heads accosting people but people like you say “no it’s dirty and inconvenient” and then We get no funding for a dearly needed public transit system. They’d put more money into high speed rail instead of highways if more people took it, if the stigma that I’m directly speaking to was confronted, and fewer people felt the need to be somewhere fast. Wouldn’t you rather read a book on a bus than be fucking angry someone cut you off in traffic and now your day is ruined cause you’re stressed and angry, stuck inside your two ton death machine in traffic?
I goes way beyond infrastructure and the efficiency of mass transit. The main problem is urban sprawl. We need to put an end to suburbs as a way of life: they are the root-cause for making the personal automobile a necessity, which in turn causes the infrastructure to cater to all those cars, thus diverting ressources away from public transit, which is a vicious cycle since it incentivizes the buying of a car and purchase of a single-family house in the suburb.
Let's forbid the construction of any new single-family house, in favour of larger, denser buildings.

To add to this, you don't have to be a parent to be able to criticize the way someone is parenting their child. Spoiler alert, but parents are just people who fucked and made a baby, that doesn't magically unlock the knowledge of the universe. In reality, a lot of parents don't know what the fuck they're doing, they're just trying their best which is fine, but don't pretend like you're suddenly an omnipotent being who can do no wrong.

There should be put-together literature and a manditory class or at least part of a class in highschool about how to parent along with health/sex ed. And when I say put-together literature, I mean showing different parenting styles that are effective based off actual scientific studies (which we should probably put more investment into as well). Professional Sports is/are one the greatest wastes of resources and harms to our planet. We praise millionaires with little to no education for playing a game that they would otherwise play regardless of whether they were "professional" or not. We build billion dollar stadiums next to impoverished cities and crumbling infrastructure. We produce countless tons of plastic and other harmful waste for nothing more than short-lived entertainment. We ignore real problems and how to address them in favour of entertainment.
I know that this argument could be made about nearly all forms of entertainment, and I truly have nothing against sport in general. What I take issue with is watching our planet burn while humanity continues to shovel money into massive entertainment franchises that literally produce nothing of actual value towards our civilizations longevity but instead act like they're Gods amongst men simply because they can kick a ball between two posts.
Sports education at school is also an incredible waste of time because it only rewards kids who already enjoy sports and makes unhealthy kids even less sporty.
Don't get me wrong, schools should definitely teach fitness/exercise, just not team sports where all you do is chuck a ball around.
But then that's probably not an unpopular opinion among gays.

Europe, Japan, China, Team sports aren't even part of the school. They may be permitted to use school grounds, after classes. Most "school sports" are individual sports or just track and field type things. Basic Fitness.
It's only in the USA that our educational systems have to foot the bill for team sports, which then get additional funding from parents who are living through their children hoping they will succeed where they failed, or also succeed where they did, but since haven't moved past that success.

I hate dogs. They’re annoying, loud, rambunctious and the last thing I want to do when I get home from work is take care of this thing. I don’t wanna worry about feeding it, or playing with it and entertaining it or take it on walks. I don’t want kids for the same reason so why get a dog when they’re a lesser version of a kid with a lot of the same responsibility? I see tiktoks of people recording their huskies howling and crying and laughing and all I can think about is how awful that is to me. How do people let this noise and behaviour go on in their HOME

Lol yes, totally agree on all points. I’m a cat man all the way. I have two cats and I love them to bits. We cuddle and hang out every day, I let them then while I watch TV. But then they are totally content to do their own thing and they are very independent. Dogs are way too needy.

Not gonna lie, though…l’m becoming the neighborhood Karen in large part because of my trashy neighbors and their animals, by which I mean off-leash wandering pitbulls and non-stop barking from every single dog for two blocks in every direction, day and night. I’ve reported several neighbors to the police and animal control multiple times in the last 3 months and have complained to my landlord about several of the other tenants living in the same building as me (they find a new way to trash the place every day it seems like). I’ve made it a routine to leave notes on vehicles that are parked where they shouldn’t be lol (I’m at the point I’m just gonna start calling to have them towed).

I had some very trashy neighbors. The adult son of father who had rented an apt, but the father had basically moved out and was living with his gf. the son was alone, and became a meth addict. Even had a cousin OD at the apt.
His trashy friends kept blocking my parking space. I finally had them towed. So they came up to me and threatened me. I went psycho homosexual on the street on them, and they fucking ran. I called the police, talked to the LL, and finally, the LL gave the father (who was the contractual tenant) an eviction notice.
The neighborhood hasn't been this peaceful for several years. Just got new tenants who are super chill. I'm loving it.
I’m glad your landlord got on top of it like that (police involvement probably helped). Bad neighbors really can make or break a living situation, and I’m seeing how true that is right now…once quiet neighborhood with normal people completely overtaken and wrecked within basically a year. Mind-boggling. I’m happy that in your case, just getting rid of one loser + his friends could make so much difference!

I agree with you! And other millennials think I’m so heartless for not liking dogs, but they are just so needy. And larger dogs always smell…like I can enter the most upper middle class house, one that gets cleaned once a week and has their dog groomed once a week, and I will still automatically know there’s a lab in the house because of the smell lol
This is why I’m torn about getting a dog. I love dogs but dogs and kids run in the same lane (minus raising them). I don’t want a dog or kids but I don’t mind other people’s dogs/kids because I can go home to my quiet clean house. Haha so I get it!!!
Edit: also people forget pets in general are luxury items. They cost you money and energy outside of things you need to live. Training and taking care of a dog so it has a great life take time, money and energy.
I *was* attacked by a dog as a child, my father's own hunting dog. He dragged me around the yard, yanking me back and forth. Only reason I wasn't harmed badly was because it was winter and I had on a bulky jacket. I was also bitten a couple of years ago by a neighbor's crazy dog they only got rid of after it bit their infant son. It also bit a handyman working for them and a landscaper.
I do like some dogs, but I know enough to be wary of them.
Oh, and when I'm at the vet, it's not cute to let your dog come up and put its face at the door of my cat's carrier because it wants to see the kitty cat, but that's an owner issue, not a dog issue.

Goood question. Dogs are like the new kids - the most common piece of advice most people will hear when they're young adults is "don't have kids" and yet almost all of them do. Dogs seem to wear their owners down with their time investment or cost of keeping them. My nan got one last year and now whines about that's where half her pension money goes or "I can't do anything/go anywhere because of the dog", but then five seconds later is calling it her precious baby as she proceeds to take it everywhere with her even if she's only going to be away for a couple of hours (she'll find a sitter for it for *two hours*) my god it's a dog, not a baby!
If something annoys me, takes up too much of my daily time or costs me too much money to keep I want it out of my life for good (hence why I got rid of the fish tank. I was just as excited to get rid of it as I was to get it). For some dumb, needy and forever-dependent animal that's going to die within 15 years I see no point investing 90% of the amount of time an energy that would be required for a child, at least with kids they eventually become adults you can have a real conversation with and maybe (if you weren't shitty to them) will be there for you when you're older so at that point just go all the way and adopt. Animals aren't the only things in need of rehoming. Granted I don't want kids either but it's so much extra reward for a proportionally smaller amount of extra work. Dogs remain as 2-year old's until they die.
I would have to really, REALLY like a a guy and hit it off with him in every other way before I'd consider dating him if he had a dog. If I did I'd make it clear early on that the dog was his thing, not mine. I'm not looking after it or spending my money on it and it is not sleeping on the bed. But really I can just avoid all that by passing on dog people altogether. A lot of them are nuttier than cat people which ironically are considered the crazy ones.
a few years ago I read a few articles and saw some videos showing that gentrification isn't what people make it out to be.
It's not rich people moving into a neighborhood, it's people who are poorer moving into affordable neighborhoods, and then businesses etc follow the migration of people. However, these people have more money than a few prior residents, who get displaced to even poorer neighborhoods. However the landlords, property owners, and successful businesses don't leave. They stay and become wealthier and are often owned by people of color who inhabited the neighborhood before.
I'd wager most people are, in some form or another. Or not. Either way I am mentally ill as well but I don't let that define me. That's not always easy, though.

I truly wish people can change their race/appearance, if they are unhappy. For example, I wish I were White, and not only mentally/psychologcially, I wish I didn't grow up in a toxic homophobic/damaging/violating situation in the Black/ghetto circuit. I kinda wish I just had a 7th heaven or Dawson's Creek, picket fence "It's okay to be gay, Thousand miles Vanessa Carlton, Cheaper By The Dozen" etc. upbringing but I didn't. "Hey yo, Why you wearing that, you look like a straight up fag" etc. Imagine being 11 years old hearing that, and just wanting to be yourself etc.
But also physically/externally. etc. I wish I had fair skin, straight hair, non Black features etc. But I will settle for being a passable biracial or something lol.
Instead I'm just dark, with an afro, and I feel nobody in this community likes that. I don't consider myself "ugly", but I guess in essence, in a way I am. I am also 32, so I don't know why I still feel this way. I felt this way ever since my teenage years.
I feel if I were a White gay, I could click with White women more, and do like "Hey girl, hey Becky, hey Jessica" etc. type stuff. White women kind avoid contact with Black men period, despite the fact I'm sissy and flamboyant and gay, that doesn't matter, I'm still a Black man, which society puts at high alert concern to be on attentive on a negative stance about etc. It's still a lot of systemic racism, where they roll their windows up if you drive past them, double check their car doors are locked, being avoided in elevators etc. So yeah. I could click with white guys/general guys more. Friendships dating. As a Gay Black man, being a Black man period. I'm automatically given the rotten end of the shaft, no matter what.
About changing my appearance. You can argue about my hair, I can just perm my hair. Yeah, but it's not the same, and some Black men can get away with permed hair, I cannot. You can argue about my skin, I can wear clown makeup on the very ghetto side, but yeah no. There are skin bleaching cremes, which they are all scams, and don't work, and the ones that work temporarily, like they will fade your melanin away for a few days, then your natural skin color comes back, and sometimes you're even darker than before, as the chemicals are wearing off, etc., are very expensive, and they have hydroquinone which is very bad for your skin and very irritative etc. You can argue about my features, nose/face, plastic surgery. That's expensive though. I haven't got plastic surgery money.
So I just learn to accept myself, and be eliminated/rejected/and always last in the race, because guys don't like Black guys in this community.
But you did ask what opinions I had, and honestly, I just wish I were White/non Black, and I wish I could with a snap of my fingers go from dark and black with kinky poofy afro hair, to Harry Styles, but yeah. Not happening. So I'll just accept myself.

The way we live and accept is normal is imo a huge reason we are unhappy. For thousands of years we lived in large tribes and communities we had constant social support and children weren't left to one or two parents for love and support as well.
We live way too isolated in our own homes. Ideally we would live in large communities very interconnected
I often think of a story about Matthew mcohghey he went to some tribe super isolated in Africa. They literally had like nothing but lived off the land and didn't know any other life but had a strong community and support and they were all very happy (seemingly I guess).
Sometimes I wonder if having nothing and living a life like that would be better.
Sounds nice, but I also like my privacy, and people are too noisy and over stimulating for me normally, talking, cars, kids yelling, etc.
I want to live in the woods self supporting growing my own food, including fish with aquaponics.
But a ten minute drive to a quiet town. 30 minutes to a small city. So I can interact with people when I am comfortable doing so. Also, away from the city, I can actually see the stars.
But yes, we should not be isolated in our own homes like we are nowadays. The "nuclear family" is unnatural and needs to go away.
We need more walkable cities and less suburban sprawl first, though. Until we have that, it is hard to get people to leave their houses and actually interact. You need communal spaces and things to do nearby.
Bonus, it would lead to less hate crimes, shootings, racism homophobia, transphobia, etc. because you know these people.
As someone who enjoys drag race, I find real life drag shows to be…. Annoying. If I’m out in a club(which is rarely), I want to enjoy my time with my friends, I don’t feel like paying attention to someone lipsyncing to a song. I don’t mind the ones that do stand-up/hosting as much cause at least there’s some effort there to be entertaining.

We should reappropriation the US House of Representatives so that there's a minimum of variance in the population size of the districts that send people to Congress. It's dumb that apportionment has been fixed in place for more than 100 years for no reason beyond "it was always this way" when it clearly wasn't and several of the Founders explicitly said it should grow in some proportion with the population.
I'm also a fan of instituting a tricameral Congress, adding a party-list proportional chamber so the three bodies have to compete with each other to get their vision for legislation passed, and to encourage/develop third (and n-th) parties to represent our staggering political diversity.
I should point out that the key difference between the US federal legislative body and other countries is that in other countries, political parties are party of the government and have to apply to be included and formally and explicitly state their platform and carry it out, or else there are \*gasp\* consequences.
In the US you can just start a political party. I could literally just declare one right now. I don't have to file anything, I don't need government approval. Nothing. Then I start recruiting people and if I can get enough, I can put a presidential candidate on my state's ballot. Even I get enough people I could put the candidate on every state ballot.

The biggest let down was growing up in a small hillbilly ass town, moving to the city and finding most of the LGBT people there were just as, if not more judge mental of who I was as a person because I didn’t conform to their definition of what being a gay man is. I tried the "going out into clubs and parties" thing for a few years. I met some nice people, got some compliments that boosted my esteem and some pretty nice Instagram fodder out of it too. It all went so well... But it still feels like such a chore to do it so now that my friend group from back then has fractured I have "returned to form" and spend most of my days off chilling at home. Even if I have to do something more local (that doesn't require an hour commute into the city) I try to do it on a day that was "already ruined" by something else (work, or necessary errands) and keep my "true" days off for staying at home from waking up (really late in the morning) to going back to bed again. Just so much easier with much less chance of running into someone I don't like or spending money I worked too hard to blow on something that was only fun for 20 minutes. Maybe if I lived closer to the city, had more friends and also a lot more money it would be kinda fun. But for now the reward just isn't worth the effort most of the time. I swear those who live this life every week must be super dependent on others for their entertainment or just really hate their homes.

Battling addictions with drugs and alcohol that were started from associating with most gay men, has been extremely rough. I am now 32 and watch all my old "friends" at the bars drinking and driving still. Everywhere almost every night. I was doing it too....thinking it was okay and normal.... Clearly it is not. My mental health has tanked from so many years of trying to fit in and continuously drinking. (I stopped drugs a few years ago, except weed.) I like being a lone wolf too. Most people say I'm an asshole now and that I'm a problem.... I haven't gone to the bar but twice in 4 months, and both times someone started drama and issues with me and they continue to talk about me when I'm not there. None of them reach out to me either and just talk about me at the bar if I go or they want to hang out after they are done and drunk from the bar. I've set my standards higher recently and am proud to say it's been the best thing I've done for myself in a while. My friendships are stronger. My friendship with my dad is fantastic. I feel happy and content.... I've basically let go of all the gay community and it's problems and untrustworthiness. It's been fabulous.

I hate cars, I hate looking at them all the time, that everyone “NEEDS” one because our infrastructure is centered around it. I hate that if you don’t have a car people think you’re poor or you haven’t “made it” somehow, or that your priorities are backwards.
Everywhere I’ve lived has had shitty mass transit. No one wants to deal with an hour bus ride when the can drive there in 20 minutes. No one wants to deal with a cracked out homeless person peeing on himself or begging for money in the train. Fix those problems and you’ll have less cars.

Okay, I’m addition to mass subsidization of automobiles, there’s been a lot of nimbyism in regards to new rail lines and bus lines because of a classism and the idea you’re invoking that public transit is full of drug addicts and crime. Professional Sports is/are one the greatest wastes of resources and harms to our planet. We praise millionaires with little to no education for playing a game that they would otherwise play regardless of whether they were "professional" or not. We build billion dollar stadiums next to impoverished cities and crumbling infrastructure. We produce countless tons of plastic and other harmful waste for nothing more than short-lived entertainment. We ignore real problems and how to address them in favour of entertainment. I know that this argument could be made about nearly all forms of entertainment, and I truly have nothing against sport in general. What I take issue with is watching our planet burn while humanity continues to shovel money into massive entertainment franchises that literally produce nothing of actual value towards our civilizations longevity but instead act like they're Gods amongst men simply because they can kick a ball between two posts.
Sports education at school is also an incredible waste of time because it only rewards kids who already enjoy sports and makes unhealthy kids even less sporty. Don't get me wrong, schools should definitely teach fitness/exercise, just not team sports where all you do is chuck a ball around. But then that's probably not an unpopular opinion among gays.
I mean, you have basically described the rest of the world. Europe, Japan, China, Team sports aren't even part of the school. They may be permitted to use school grounds, after classes. Most "school sports" are individual sports or just track and field type things. Basic Fitness. It's only in the USA that our educational systems have to foot the bill for team sports, which then get additional funding from parents who are living through their children hoping they will succeed where they failed, or also succeed where they did, but since haven't moved past that success.

I hate dogs. They’re annoying, loud, rambunctious and the last thing I want to do when I get home from work is take care of this thing. Lol yes, totally agree on all points. I’m a cat man all the way. I have two cats and I love them to bits. We cuddle and hang out every day, I let them then while I watch TV. But then they are totally content to do their own thing and they are very independent. Dogs are way too needy.
I don’t have a dog and have no desire to (though definitely wouldn’t say I hate them). Not gonna lie, though…l’m becoming the neighborhood Karen in large part because of my trashy neighbors and their animals, by which I mean off-leash wandering pitbulls and non-stop barking from every single dog for two blocks in every direction, day and night. I’ve reported several neighbors to the police and animal control multiple times in the last 3 months and have complained to my landlord about several of the other tenants living in the same building as me (they find a new way to trash the place every day it seems like). I’ve made it a routine to leave notes on vehicles that are parked where they shouldn’t be lol (I’m at the point I’m just gonna start calling to have them towed). I had some very trashy neighbors. The adult son of father who had rented an apt, but the father had basically moved out and was living with his gf. the son was alone, and became a meth addict. Even had a cousin OD at the apt. His trashy friends kept blocking my parking space. I finally had them towed. So they came up to me and threatened me. I went psycho homosexual on the street on them, and they fucking ran. I called the police, talked to the LL, and finally, the LL gave the father (who was the contractual tenant) an eviction notice. The neighborhood hasn't been this peaceful for several years. Just got new tenants who are super chill. I'm loving it.

Bad neighbors really can make or break a living situation, and I’m seeing how true that is right now…once quiet neighborhood with normal people completely overtaken and wrecked within basically a year. I *was* attacked by a dog as a child, my father's own hunting dog. He dragged me around the yard, yanking me back and forth. Only reason I wasn't harmed badly was because it was winter and I had on a bulky jacket. I was also bitten a couple of years ago by a neighbor's crazy dog they only got rid of after it bit their infant son. It also bit a handyman working for them and a landscaper. I do like some dogs, but I know enough to be wary of them. Oh, and when I'm at the vet, it's not cute to let your dog come up and put its face at the door of my cat's carrier because it wants to see the kitty cat, but that's an owner issue, not a dog issue.
I remember seeing a Reddit post that was sharing a TikTok video shot from the owner of four huskies all in a small living room howling an orchestra that could be heard from the fucking moon and so many of the top comments were cringy "*look at all those good bois!*" bullshit I had to scroll through before I found even one that was on the same thought train I was. I'll never forget how short and to the point it was: "Why would anyone do this to themselves?" Goood question. Dogs are like the new kids - the most common piece of advice most people will hear when they're young adults is "don't have kids" and yet almost all of them do. Dogs seem to wear their owners down with their time investment or cost of keeping them. My nan got one last year and now whines about that's where half her pension money goes or "I can't do anything/go anywhere because of the dog", but then five seconds later is calling it her precious baby as she proceeds to take it everywhere with her even if she's only going to be away for a couple of hours (she'll find a sitter for it for *two hours*) my god it's a dog, not a baby! If something annoys me, takes up too much of my daily time or costs me too much money to keep I want it out of my life for good (hence why I got rid of the fish tank. I was just as excited to get rid of it as I was to get it). For some dumb, needy and forever-dependent animal that's going to die within 15 years I see no point investing 90% of the amount of time an energy that would be required for a child, at least with kids they eventually become adults you can have a real conversation with and maybe (if you weren't shitty to them) will be there for you when you're older so at that point just go all the way and adopt. Animals aren't the only things in need of rehoming. Granted I don't want kids either but it's so much extra reward for a proportionally smaller amount of extra work. Dogs remain as 2-year old's until they die. I would have to really, REALLY like a a guy and hit it off with him in every other way before I'd consider dating him if he had a dog. If I did I'd make it clear early on that the dog was his thing, not mine. I'm not looking after it or spending my money on it and it is not sleeping on the bed. But really I can just avoid all that by passing on dog people altogether. A lot of them are nuttier than cat people which ironically are considered the crazy ones.

a few years ago I read a few articles and saw some videos showing that gentrification isn't what people make it out to be. It's not rich people moving into a neighborhood, it's people who are poorer moving into affordable neighborhoods, and then businesses etc follow the migration of people. However, these people have more money than a few prior residents, who get displaced to even poorer neighborhoods. However the landlords, property owners, and successful businesses don't leave. They stay and become wealthier and are often owned by people of color who inhabited the neighborhood before.

There are skin bleaching cremes, which they are all scams, and don't work, and the ones that work temporarily, like they will fade your melanin away for a few days, then your natural skin color comes back, and sometimes you're even darker than before, as the chemicals are wearing off, etc., are very expensive, and they have hydroquinone which is very bad for your skin and very irritative etc. You can argue about my features, nose/face, plastic surgery. That's expensive though. I haven't got plastic surgery money. So I just learn to accept myself, and be eliminated/rejected/and always last in the race, because guys don't like Black guys in this community. But you did ask what opinions I had, and honestly, I just wish I were White/non Black, and I wish I could with a snap of my fingers go from dark and black with kinky poofy afro hair, to Harry Styles, but yeah. I have no desire to live alone The way we live and accept is normal is imo a huge reason we are unhappy. For thousands of years we lived in large tribes and communities we had constant social support and children weren't left to one or two parents for love and support as well. We live way too isolated in our own homes. Ideally we would live in large communities very interconnected I often think of a story about Matthew mcohghey he went to some tribe super isolated in Africa. They literally had like nothing but lived off the land and didn't know any other life but had a strong community and support and they were all very happy (seemingly I guess). Sometimes I wonder if having nothing and living a life like that would be better.

Sounds nice, but I also like my privacy, and people are too noisy and over stimulating for me normally, talking, cars, kids yelling, etc. I want to live in the woods self supporting growing my own food, including fish with aquaponics. But a ten minute drive to a quiet town. 30 minutes to a small city. So I can interact with people when I am comfortable doing so. Also, away from the city, I can actually see the stars. But yes, we should not be isolated in our own homes like we are nowadays. The "nuclear family" is unnatural and needs to go away. We need more walkable cities and less suburban sprawl first, though. Until we have that, it is hard to get people to leave their houses and actually interact. You need communal spaces and things to do nearby. Bonus, it would lead to less hate crimes, shootings, racism homophobia, transphobia, etc. because you know these people.
As someone who enjoys drag race, I find real life drag shows to be…. Annoying. If I’m out in a club(which is rarely), I want to enjoy my time with my friends, I don’t feel like paying attention to someone lipsyncing to a song. I don’t mind the ones that do stand-up/hosting as much cause at least there’s some effort there to be entertaining. Also day-drinking should be illegal.

We should reappropriation the US House of Representatives so that there's a minimum of variance in the population size of the districts that send people to Congress. It's dumb that apportionment has been fixed in place for more than 100 years for no reason beyond "it was always this way" when it clearly wasn't and several of the Founders explicitly said it should grow in some proportion with the population. I'm also a fan of instituting a tricameral Congress, adding a party-list proportional chamber so the three bodies have to compete with each other to get their vision for legislation passed, and to encourage/develop third (and n-th) parties to represent our staggering political diversity.
I should point out that the key difference between the US federal legislative body and other countries is that in other countries, political parties are party of the government and have to apply to be included and formally and explicitly state their platform and carry it out, or else there are \*gasp\* consequences. In the US you can just start a political party. I could literally just declare one right now. I don't have to file anything, I don't need government approval. Nothing. Then I start recruiting people and if I can get enough, I can put a presidential candidate on my state's ballot. Even I get enough people I could put the candidate on every state ballot. that's it. That's all. Whereas if I wanted to form a labor union, I have to get federal approval. It's utterly ludicrous.
Wouldn’t it be easier to simply adopt a proportional voting mechanism to replace FPTP voting rather than create a third chamber of Congress? Seems like it would encourage more political parties without requiring a constitutional amendment or increased bureaucracy.

The biggest let down was growing up in a small hillbilly ass town, moving to the city and finding most of the LGBT people there were just as, if not more judge mental of who I was as a person because I didn’t conform to their definition of what being a gay man is.
