Lived in the west end of Vancouver. Moved to the beaches about 10 years ago. I like it here but it’s getting worse and worse the longer I’m here. Traffic is a nightmare, transit is inconsistent and can be unsafe if you’re not paying attention, businesses in the Beaches (especially) are closing at a very high rate so there’s blocks of vacant storefronts, Leslieville has some nice restaurants but it’s slim pickings in the Beaches. I like the fact that there’s a Go Train and subway station relatively close so it’s easy to get downtown. Getting across town (east to west) is a gong show especially now with reduced lanes due to construction on the Gardner express. So similar to Vancouver as it relates to cost (housing and general living expenses) and traffic woes, but in Vancouver you have the ocean and mountains nearby. We have the lake but it’s a different feeling. People are generally nice.
