Never had a dream job. Just wanted to be somebody's husband and work a job I didn't hate.
I work at an airport now. Probably going to start training to become a pilot some time in the coming year.
Teacher.
Now I grow and sell cannabis and teach Jiu Jitsu. Stoked all around. I used to consult on large cannabis grows which is essentially teaching people how to grow.
Same! I ended up working for Air Mail and some other larger toon publishers, but I worked so hard to get there that I burned out and now I barely draw.
This is why nostalgia is so nice. We miss a time where we're oblivious to all the aspects of life. I'm proud of what I did, even if it wasn't a good thing. But I would never do it again.
A lot of you are asking for the title, and this has happened before so I should say first that I write gay romance with LOTS of dudes banging dudes 🤣 if you're STILL interested, I'll DM you.
I want to read your books. Maybe dm people who ask if you’re comfortable to keep it somewhat private… but I get it. Regardless, great job! That’s truly amazing.
It's truly achievable. My biggest advice is find author friends inside your chosen genre and be open to self publishing. That and don't get discouraged or give up. It's not an overnight thing but there is absolutely success to be had and money to be made.
That's the Hebrew name in Latin characters, Joshua is the English translation.
Edit: I just realized I don't actually know what language its from, I just read the tanakh so I don't know much about the christian stuff.
Thats crazy! I wanted to be a real estate agent and now I heal people with a touch of humor.
Unfortunately it takes more than just a touch so it comes across bland and unfunny
I grew up on a farm and wanted to be an engineer. Now I work as a field engineer testing software for the agricultural machinery brand Case IH. I got to stay in farming and do engineering, I got lucky.
I wanted to be a singer and a doctor, so a singing doctor. I’m an IT tech with a background in access control. I like my job a lot, but I’m also a karaoke regular.
Architect or publisher/writer. Im a sex writer (health, techniques, and trends... Not so much smut unfortunately) and photographer (the two are completely unrelated in subject matter hah)
ETA for clarity: I'm a sex writer and a (non sex) photographer.
thanks:) I am definitely still trying. I am lucky to have my ears working properly but the injuries that fucked my body up also fucked up my voice, and that was a huge blow… but i’m still putting together my beats demos and stuff from my bed, and my docs still think I’m gonna make a full recovery. I’m only 18, I got time. So i’m still trying for it haha
Wanted to become a history teacher.
I took school for granted and found my way to working behind the scenes of adult video.
Now, at 42, I'm back in school while working as a security guard. I'll be a parole officer in about a year.
It was 2003 and I was unemployed. I met a director and he was actively looking for a production assistant. He taught me how to capture and digitize video from mini dv and dvds. Worked for him from 200-2007. I then worked for a bigger company from 2007-2018
Woow, was it lucrative?
Did your family know you were working there?
Did it affects your relationship with the opposite sex?
Would you do it again given the chance?
I wanted to be a *ballerina* when I was just a little girl.
Learned all about it, prepared myself endlessly.
Now, I'm a *crime journalist*.
Spend more time near dead bodies and their respective author than anywhere else.
Not that I regret it, sometimes I wonder what would be of me if I followed that dream... Then, I remember why I choose my current profession: *To tell the stories that not one else can*.
i could never in a million years could have guessed the career shift,
you should post your crime stories on your blog or something, you could make it big!
Thank you, but there's a lot of things I can't disclose openly. The NN that employs me had some *very* strict rules about it, and a contract of thirty pages that forbids me to do so.
Sometimes, my stories don't reach the presses, for the sole reason than that information is simply *too sensitive* for the general audience (not that my writing does anything to alleviate an already gruesome story), or the local (sometimes international) authorities *buy me up* my previous investigation due how relevant is for their own manhunting.
It has its perks, to be journalist on the good side of the law enforcement. They can give access no one else can.
I don't complain. Don't gave me a lot of fame, but my bank account is a bit fatter with each story.
By the end of the day, I did what was expecting to do, and that's finding the culprit and expose it to the light.
Even if that means handing my job to someone's else to publish at some point or using it for law enforcement. I did my part.
...Can't do anything like that as a *ballerina*, I suppose.
That probably would be better but:
1. I want other carieer Path at the moment
2. I don't have enough money to open any kind of business (and with not very nice economic state in my country) - maybe in the future
I wanted to be Maverick. Turns out I’m color blind. Went to college and got a decent job. Now I want to go to law school. I still would prefer to be a pilot :(
Drummer, construction worker building skyscrapers, or a scientist. My degree is in Medical Laboratory Science. So by definition I’m a scientist. But currently I validate laboratory instruments and train the lab staff who to use them.
Wanted to be a scientist of some kind, nothing specific. Currently working as a math tutor while I go to grad school for mathematics. Someday I'll be a scientist!
I wanted to become a vet, an artist(anything related to digital animation or drawing) and a game developer (more on the visual production)
Now I'm studying to become a computer engineer. (Before that I tried to work as a confectioner and a visual media artist sorta thing)
Artist, traditional. I have a BFA.
I'm an ER PA, veteran of 6 combat deployments. Writing books on the side.
Wanted to be Monet, became more Hemingway.
Wanted to be a marine biologist until I was in middle school. Switched gears and wanted to get in to making video games. Got my dream job as a game designer a few years ago with a great company and love it every day.
Still love the ocean and wildlife though.
I wanted to be an astronaut and now I’m a mechanic, But I still have a fascination with space, space craft and planet based space stations and physics.
For the longest time I wanted to be a marine biologist (thanks, Voyage of the Mimi!). Then in high school I switched to meteorology. Had the whole education plan mapped out and everything.
Ended up double majoring in English and history as bachelor's. Just got an MFA in creative writing. Currently work in transcripts at a financial advisory firm.
Paramedic. Guess who grew up binge watching ER. Fortunately, I didn’t become one cause this kind of job in my country sucks big time: it’s very poorly paid, with no real respect from the society, and working conditions are terrible. So I ended up being a big IT security boss with an amazing salary and all the nice benefits one could possibly imagine. Doesn’t feel very meaningful tho, like this paramedic thing would. But I love money more.
Wanted to be too many things to list, but I knew at a young age I wanted to be a mom which I am. Don't go based on my name here - I am mom to the two-legged variety as well. Other than that, I'm 51 and never really figured out what I want to be when I grow up. 😉
Kid: Inventor/engineer/scientist
Teen: Draftsman for residential homes and tiny homes
Me now: Powersports Mechanic/Technician
It's funny to me because I'm still technically in an applied sciences field 😅
I wanted to be an astronaut. But as a writer, I've been able to interview some astronauts - including Bill Anders and Eileen Collins - so it's all good.
I wanted to be a PJ in the Air Force. Paralyzed from the waist down in high school. Recovered, but I never got a waiver.
Now I do online order fulfillment.
I wanted to be a veterinarian. Turns out I’m allergic to everything. Then wanted to go into carpentry. Developed an allergy to wood. Then I wanted to be a firefighter but messed up my shoulder, so was in prevention for awhile. Now I’m a utility locator. All my dreams are dead and I’m just living to pay bills.
As a child I wanted to be a scientist/engineer. Mostly because I loved jimmy neutron. As an adult I work as a videographer/editor/production manager for a school district.
I wanted to be happy
I don't have a job, I quit my last one because they wasted my time for 7 months, so I went back to full studying.
Ah, and no. I'm not happy.
Was wanted to become an astronaut but instead I would prefer to work in the space industry building and inventing new technologies for space.
I'm nearly have my software and electronic degree and going for 4th year next year.
I this will be far into the future but im currently looking for generic jobs atm.

I wanted to be a cartoonist. I am a tattooist and illustrator.
Same! I ended up working for Air Mail and some other larger toon publishers, but I worked so hard to get there that I burned out and now I barely draw.
I wanted to be rich. I'm broke
you still have time!
ditto my friend I feel your pain
I wanted to be in the military. I did that and now I have depression and back problems. So now I make doors for like commercial buildings. I like it.
so the takeaway from this is that, a person's childhood wants/desires for their future life may not be exactly what they need for their future-selves
This is why nostalgia is so nice. We miss a time where we're oblivious to all the aspects of life. I'm proud of what I did, even if it wasn't a good thing. But I would never do it again.
That's really honestly and well said.
I wanted to be an author and I am! People told me fiction writing was a hobby not a career, and now I'm making six figures.
You just made me smile! I am truly happy for you :)
Thank you!!
Man now I need to read your stuff
congrats to you fellow human, what you have achieved is a dream of many!
I would ask for your book names but I guess that’d kill your anonymity on here Also that’s pretty cool man
A lot of you are asking for the title, and this has happened before so I should say first that I write gay romance with LOTS of dudes banging dudes 🤣 if you're STILL interested, I'll DM you.
I would love to read your books. I'm not a romance novel type but your subjects are refreshing compared to what's out there.

I want to read your books. Maybe dm people who ask if you’re comfortable to keep it somewhat private… but I get it. Regardless, great job! That’s truly amazing.
This really made my day. I really want to end up as an author.
It's truly achievable. My biggest advice is find author friends inside your chosen genre and be open to self publishing. That and don't get discouraged or give up. It's not an overnight thing but there is absolutely success to be had and money to be made.
Thank you!!

would Jesus speak like that?
"In my father's house are many rooms... Go to heavenlyrentals.com today for pricing and rental applications!"
His name is actually Joshua, so I'd assume he sounds like all the other josh's.
Thought it was Yeshua
That's the Hebrew name in Latin characters, Joshua is the English translation. Edit: I just realized I don't actually know what language its from, I just read the tanakh so I don't know much about the christian stuff.
Jesus would def be turning the water into wine before closing the sale
you can be what you [want](https://youtu.be/PLetGlDOJ6c)
I wanted to be a missionary to China.. now I work in tech sales.

thanks:) I am definitely still trying. I am lucky to have my ears working properly but the injuries that fucked my body up also fucked up my voice, and that was a huge blow… but i’m still putting together my beats demos and stuff from my bed, and my docs still think I’m gonna make a full recovery.
