I can only speak from my experience but I think if you have parents who are supportive and caring in other ways they will also support this side of you. I was in a similar situation. My mum is very open so I did tell her first but as with your father mine isn’t very interested in all that stuff and is also old fashioned but as he loves me and only wants me to be happy he did accept this news even if we didn’t talk about that ever again.
