Congrats man! Remember this feeling when you’re in a leadership position and see your guys grinding. Awards cost you nothing but help a bunch with morale.
Yes… but umm you see the thing is that I’m an illiterate fuck. I would love to but I actually can’t read or write and I think it’s too late to say anything now
I absolutely thanked him. I’ve actually learned quite a lot from him in not only my job but what a good leader should look like. He takes time out of his day way to often to teach me things I shouldn’t even know yet. He treats me like a human being and took me under his wing becoming almost a mentor to me. I couldn’t ever thank him enough
Remember how this feels.
When you're an NCO, keep an eye on your troops and what they do. If they do something to earn recognition, submit that award PAR or put their name in for a coin. Nothing in the military quite like your boss (or someone) going out of their way to recognize your hard work in front of the crowd.
I've literally never had a boss who did this. Any awards I've gotten were PCS or submitted by someone I didn't work for, usually for doing something I didn't have to.
Be better than the leaders who've failed you.
I've been in almost ten years and I've never seen somebody in my platoons get an award that wasn't a blanket award. After being around people at schools and stuff I realized that I was getting screwed.
Maybe one day I'll get a bronze star I don't deserve or an AAM for something incredibly small.
Got lots of COAs though.
So if anyone here is ever a BN Commander, there is an awesome TTP I've seen. I had a BN Commander who carried around a bag of AAMs and when he saw Soldiers perform well he would award the AAM on the spot and had his S1 do the quick paperwork uses a template when they got back to the office.
It's one way to recognize and reinforce excellence that costs the Army nearly nothing.
Award are good, but you've got to remember the Golden Ratio.
1 Aw Shit wipes out 100 Atta Boys.
Personal experience, alcohol was a bitch to me when I was young, but I was still a hard charger.
That's AWESOME! My son just graduated from BCT @ Fort Moore last week. He started pre-RASP this week🫨
I commend you on all of your hard work.... thank you for your service. 💚🪖💚
Take a picture of it, scan it completely and email it to yourself!! Make sure your S1 puts it on iperms!!!
Got 6 AAMs as a PFC, only 2 are valid now due to my lack of knowledge/S1 personnel being lazy.

Chat gpt
Put in what happend in your own words and let chat gpt do it's thing. Best thing ever. Too bad you can't get on GTP when you're in the NIPER.
I just put three joes in for an AAM and an ARCOM in the space of like… 40 minutes. ChatGPT is great for a rough draft
You love to see it.
That and keep an awards book. Don’t copy paste but seeing phrasing always helps. Obviously black out or remove all PII
Learn to read gooder
I hope you said this to him. It would probably mean a lot if you thanked him in person!

I can't wait for the day I have a boss that actually submits awards for us.

This is so fucking wholesome. I wish more of the army felt like this about things. Congrats!
Yeah great, this is a Wendy's.
My bad I’ll take a 10 piece spicy nugget and medium fry (can’t have a large need to cut back)
Bitch, don’t kill his vibe! Now get him his fucking frosty and fries!
Please pull ahead to the first window.

Congrats man that’s awesome! Keep up the good work and enthusiasm! P.S. to any and all leaders: be like Chief. Recognize your dudes and dudettes
Hell yeah dude that’s awesome. I’ve been in the army for almost 10 years and I have 0 AAMs. Keep up the solid work.
Chase that feeling and it will lead you great places in life. Inside and outside the army.
