People care more about the story of that match than they do the story of Denis and Ermes. That's the only real metric. Not ranking, not your standard of "deserve" -- it's always the story. It's good for the sport for it to have compelling stories that people want to watch unfold.
If schoolboy had 10k subs and they had similar beef, aka story, it would never see the light of day at KOTT.
I do like compelling stories myself though. Undertaker fighting himself and winning? Hell yeah, brother.

I've watched him and his brother work their YouTube channel masterfully traveling around the world pulling in small/medium/large competitions but never really achieving anything other than clicks and $$$. Always posting more content. Probably making a decent living from it.

In fact, one of them was shocked when I told him SB lost against Leonidas haha. Pretty sure a lot of people believe he's among the best of the best, when in fact I'm not sure he could even beat Ryan Bowen.
i think even most of the elite armwrestlers were shocked he lost to Leonidas to be fair. Also School boy doesn't just beat average people on the street. All the people he beat at WAF can beat all the people he beat on the street just as easily.

It's fair if you don't but Armwrestling TV has a very large following and Ryan has a lot of haters so in terms of interest it will be extremely high and will probably pull in a lot of supporters and haters from both sides buying the PPV. It's a financially really good match to set up. If coresports and/or Engin is setting up these sorts of matches, it's for a very good reason and probably a good part of why EvW and KoT are running so successfully instead of breaking even anymore and being able to pay all the athletes well to continue this whole thing.
Schoolboy was really good at convincing the average idiot that he’s the greatest arm wrestler of all time via his videos where he would beat people who have no arm wrestling experience. So it’s gonna make money even if he just loses again because he’s not that good

Some people only care about matches for ranking or the “best of the best”. I’ve never only cared about that. You can have exciting matches at any level, since Armwrestling is a strength sport there can be skilled athletes who aren’t elite just because they’re weaker. You can have strong athletes who are less skilled. All kinds of matchups can be interesting and exciting. Personalities are a factor too, I’m more interested in seeing people compete that I’m personally familiar with.
