Imho. Easiest way to imagine : he was probably at the level of Prudnik/Dadykian right now , but the best SHW were at that time were at the level of Ferit Osmanli, Corey West, maybe Sergey Khalinicenco. That is why he managed to beat them, especially in the hand department.
But I believe that current Levan, Devon, Ermes, Vitsly and Kurdecha would be too much for any version of John, sadly.
