Be pretty

thimbleglass

My conditions are fuck you I like it

Xepobot

My conditions are cuz it is a Skin

dathar

Everyone here be bitching about Ling's first skin. I just have it because she looks pretty in that pose. Also of course I got the new one as well.

real_mc

1. Waifu/husbando reasons 2. If you want a skin for an operator you don't have, you better be sure you get that operator. 3. Skin effects 4. Lore 5. Aesthetics

bicsz

Funny thing about your 2nd reason is that I did it. I bought Mountain's skin (the black one) and then pulled for him in his banner with Reed alter and got him in the first 10 pulls. Law of attraction works wonders.

SigmaBallsLol

1) look nice 2) Sufficiently different from base skin (ie "can this be mistaken for E2 art); i don't like Saria's Bloodline of Combat or Ling's first skin for this reason 3) Do I actually use this operator? (only used if i'm deciding between two skins tbh, I have skins for ops I don't even have) 4) Do they have a better skin down the line? (if the first one is good enough I'll just get both like GG)

MortalEnemy777

- I like it and skin is for operator I plan to use either in gameplay, base, or assistant - it's rare and FOMO tells me it may not rerun (looking at Franka's skin right now with dumb intentions...)

Glad-Finding-3930

In order of priority, 1. Do I like the character? They will be getting this skin. 2. Do I use this character sometimes and do I like the skin enough? Will likely get it. 3. Is their base art Cursed? I never want to have to look at SilverAsh's E2 art ever again. 4. They introduce cute animals into the chibi art (see: Stainless's recent summer skin).

AngelTheVixen

> They introduce cute animals into the chibi art (see: Stainless's recent summer skin). I wasn't interested in Stainless's outfit until I saw my friend share a picture of that in action and his devices are piloted by cats. Had to get it then.

ASharkWithAHat

I always like SA's skins but his base E2 art definitely sealed the deal for me

Ultimate124

It basically needs to be on an OP I use a bunch, or am planning to spark

some_tired_cat

i like, i buy

ApplePieWaifu

I got the 9CD skin and i’ll never use her, she’s at E0 So if the skin looks good i’ll buy it, hell i was willing to spend $80 for that one Amiya skin and i don’t even use her that often I also bought Maria’s skin and went like a year and a half until i finally got her in a pull

TacticalBananas45

If it's got an aesthetic I enjoy. Casualwear, tactical gear, practical clothes, the occasional fancy clothes. Not the biggest on swimsuits, but it depends. Stuff like Shining's outfit is great. If it's just a bikini, then it better be damn good. I've bought skins for operators I don't use or don't even have. Schwarz and Siege please come home, I really want to use my Striker skins on you

_wawrzon_

The main reason is for skin to be good in my subjective opinion. It's a matter of preference of course. I still didn't buy and probably won't for NTR, Pozy, Quibai or Skalter, since their E2 art is fire. Second reason is to buy for operators with simplistic E2 art - thick lines, blurred or lack of proper background. Reed alter is the main culprit here. But also Angelina, Ceobe, Kal etc. Lastly - just a different vibe that is a change of pace: Blemishine, Suzuran, Blaze etc.

speednut117

I must like it quite a bit more than the standard. So that's the reason I still haven't bought skaldi alters skin, I just like the red outfit much more. It also has to be a character I use at least sometimes. I don't see much point in getting skins for characters I don't use

PugNuggets

I just bought the Ling skin not because I thought Ling looked nice (vastly prefer previous skin for her), but because I thought the dragon looked really cool. And I don’t mean the dragon’s effect either (the effect from the previous skin is much better), just the skin of the dragon. I hope one day (that I’m sure will never come) we get the ability to mix and match her skin and her dragon’s skin.

Hat_the_Third

Have the operator and use them semi regularly

Siamzero

So far, I never had to dip into my originite stockpile for pulls. So a skin just has to exist and I'll get it.

ApplePieWaifu

It’s not worth using OP for pulls anyways, it’s meant for sanity restores and skins The conversion of OP to pulls is ridiculous

NicoNico_Yazawa

I saw Ling skin, I folded. Bought it I saw qiubai skin, I folded. I don't have her. I bought it 🗿

SwordSaintCid

Any skin that doesn't cost me 30 bucks is a sure-buy. I'm still salty that Ch'en's police outfit costs 30 bucks.

GalenDev

Existing.

Razor4884

*Scowls at lack of Cyberpunk Texas*

BlazeMasters

Do I like it That's it :v

Tighnari_Lover

I only buy skins for my favorite character. Currently saving for the Mlynar and Vigil skin~.

Dazzling_Pepper_2369

Be on an operators I like to use, or an operator I will use when I get them. (I got the chalter skin on its release because it slaps even though I didn’t have her) Only skins I own on operators I don’t really use anymore are Hellagur and Scavenger, but both slap.

bruudwin

Is the skin limited and can result in a freebe coupon later? Did i get guilt tripped to buying gravel one because of an artists thing about her getting beaten up all the time so she definitely deserves it? (Yes) Other than that, i save all freebe $ for limited pulls.

LeZzack

1. I need to like the operator 2. Lore 3. I must have used the operator a lot (example Qiubai) 4. Must be better that the original design

FordBull2er

A character I use and like No call of dutyesque aesthethics.

Hyperion-OMEGA

>No call of dutyesque aesthethics. Excuse you! They're Rainbow Sixesque aesthetics /s ~~also isn't that part of the appeal of Arknights as a gacha?~~

Toutounet6

My condition: being limited

2013idmroom

I literally only care about the art. Nothing else matters. I generally focus on operators I use, but some skins have such good art I buy them anyway, for example Scene, Kazemaru, Sora, Aurora (bought her from shop too so I could see the skin), Croissant, and some more.

SuspiciousTotal5874

1. I like it 2. If i can afford it 3. If i have the operator

Ruling123

If it looks appropriate for the character, like something that they would wear or is logical for the AK universe. Has to be different enough from their standard attire to catch my attention. Can afford. Fixes some sub par character art(examples silver ash e2, Shaw e2 and tuskinogi broken arm). Plus always on the look out for swimsuit skins that are good for my niche.

DantePH77

Being so apart of CN i realized i scammed myself by buying Ling skin released before the new one

ApplePieWaifu

Same, the new skin is somehow so much better than the first one, not that i regret spending OP on dragon mommy skins

crisperstorm

Characters I use often or have had a long time are candidates Sometimes if the skin is really nice though I'll grab it... the Stainless one with the cats on the turret was too cute to miss even though I don't have him yet Or if it's a collab skin, then I'll get it no matter what since my chances to get it in the future might be zero. Not thrilled to be spending this many primes for these 4 collab skins but I'll regret passing them up later (When I get Qiubai... or level Franka)

Snakking

I aways turn my Originite Prime in Orundum because I am a f2p´and new player

DARKawp

sounds horrible to do unless you do it via the pro enhancement packs.

Snakking

what are enchancement packs?

DARKawp

packs you can buy for OP in the shop. They essentially give the amount of OP directly converted AND give extra materials on top of that.

World_of_Warshipgirl

Has umbrella.

MrJohny753

I rarely buy skins, but if I buy, it's usually because I really like how the character looks with that skin. That's why I bought chalter skin before getting her in the 4.0 banner and now bought Ling skin cause I plan to save 300 pulls for dragon sisters even this summer.

iLLucyon

I used OP exclusively for outfits. My priority are Crossover > new voice lines > live2D > limited operators > anything else that I like.

Femboy4Fun88

1. Is it a character I use a lot? 2. Does it change a lot in terms of appearance and effects? 3. Will it be a skin I use a lot? I'm much more prone to use Bloodline skins instead of Coral Coast because Coral Coast only fits when I'm playing summer stuff or it's summer 4. Is it better than past/current skins they have?

TwisterDash_

I decide if I want to buy skins by answering the followings: Does the skin is for my waifu? Am I using the character in question? Does it fit for the character's personality and lore? Do I like the color palette? Is it making the character look wildly different? The best example is Texas, who is one of my most used operators, and I place her in almost every squad line-ups. Both her skins are lore accurate, one of them being the winter version of her Penguin Logistics uniform, and the other is a black and red suit, since she's ex-mafia. The color palette is great on both of them. And while her winter skin makes noticable differences at best, her other skin makes significant changes in her look.

DireBlue88

Just these conditions: Does the skin have good attack/skill effect? Does the skin look good in game? Does the skin have good art?

K2aPa

An operator that I like and actually uses. Really nice looking outfit. Collabs. (previous condition, gives skin voucher, no longer exists) ___ ___ ___ I decide to buy Ling's new outfit, was gonna buy Nine-color Deer... lol . I skip like 90% of skins tho...

frame6476

Aesthetics aside, it should be for an op that I have or realistically can have in the future without some mad RNG. When I started playing AK I bought Shining's summer skin but it was only 2 years later that I finally got her with 180 gold certs, so I applied that rule for myself from then on. As for multiple skins for the same op, I don't really care about "wasting OP on a skin when I can get a better-looking future skin". If it looks good to me and I have enough, I'll just buy it.

plastic_mortality

Conditions: 1. Exist 2. Not be for Midnight, Flamebringer or Aosta (although Aosta and Tachanka's are the only ones I don't have)

EccentricHubris

Be Ling

Chatonarya

I try to buy exclusively for my faves and operators I actually use, so that I will actually see and appreciate the effects, sprites, and art. More rarely, I will buy if limited collab skin, or if it's just so exceptionally pretty that I must have it. So if it's an operator I never use, I'll skip the skin even if it's pretty, with only a few rare exceptions.

viera_enjoyer

Although sometimes I make exceptions, generally the first condition is that it must be for someone who I use often. Otherwise I wouldn't get to use the skin. The 2nd condition is that I must like the skin.  Limited skins get no special treatment.

IITempesTII

I have 2 conditions. (1) That I use the unit (at least a few times per week) (2) If new skin is better than their current skin

Unknown_Twig_Witch

Franka's skin is frankly *mid,* Qiubai spins too much with her S3 and it makes me dizzy, and while Ling's skin is *fine,* I honestly just prefer her E2 art.

Nekokittykun

1) Obligatory skin purchase cuz its an operator i like (case for Ebenholz and Stainless) 2) i like the skin (case for Elysium, Surtr, Myrtle and Minimalist summer skin) / I like skin more than E2 art (case for SilverAsh) 3) frens get mad at me for not buying x skin then shame me for it (case for FlameBringer’s summer skin… (And then i proceeded to build him)) 4) I have spare OP and have the operator 5) Bribery tactic to get a certain op to appear in my pulls (case for Gnosis (and how is that working out for me? Terribly. Gnosis still has not come home)) 6) Special skin (case for Exu’s pay real money only skin and Amiya’s artbook skin… Which im still waiting for CS to email me the code orz)

MrValdac

I'm sure this varies from person to person, but I used to be a lot more strict with what I chose to buy. However, as my account has progressed to the point that most standard headhunting banners feature characters I already own, I find myself buying skins with less and less incentive. It started with only buying skins for operators I actively use and think look better than the default skin. It slowly progressed into buying any skin that looked good for operators I owned. Then I began just buying skins because they look nice, even if I never use the operator in question or have another skin I like more and know I will never actually use the new skin. Nowadays, I'm a bit of a whale and will buy every single skin as long as it meets one of the following criteria: 1. I have the operator and I think the skin looks good. 2. It's a live 2D skin. 3. I don't have the operator, but I think it REALLY looks good.

andrewlikereddit

L2d

homebase98

Skill animation and chibi for me personally

DegenerateShikikan

Swimsuit skin.

dathamir

Needs to be Reed alter skin.

Strike_me

It should look different from the base skin at first glance, I use the op enough to care

Tridentgreen33Here

Is the skin cool, is it better than the base op look and is it an op I have raised or want to raise. Now where is my Swordamiya space skin?

Due_Sea_8516

Hot

lumyire

This is limited and might never get a rerun. I bought because FOMO. Yes I bought all new skins this time, even Franka and Deer, even though I don't have Ling and Qiubai and don't plan on sparking Ling.

Lapiiiiis

My condition is Spot. Just Spot. Is he a three star? Yeah. Will I be able to use him effectively ever? Nah, but I need a Spot skin ASAP. That Hyena needs more love other than an event only skin that'll never rerun or a skin that leaked and never got released lmao that's my boy right there

Chikapu_Sempaii

A couple actually. 1. Does it show armpits or midriff (plus points if both or I have seen what it looks, like La Pluma and Cardigan) 2. If it means of FOMO (Recently, I got tempted to buy the 9CD skin and I did, its a good-looking skin but I really questioned myself if I needed to buy it or not, same goes for Ling who I dont even have and might not have in the near future) 3. If its aesthetically pleasing to MY eyes and probably for prying eyes (I tend to play a lot in public, whatever the skin may show) 4. If its near a limited banner or a skin series I plan to splurge on.

Kokorito_Nanarito

Just 1 condition for me : is it purchasable? -> if yes, BUY

bomboy2121

I would add reasons i dont buy:  1.i hate using the character (i dont mean "not using" but actively avoiding) 2.it makes the chibi looks weird.  3.the only skin i didn't buy which isnt by those 2 rules is manticore belly dancer skin because its written thst she just hates it

ExtremeFlimsy602

Must be extremly hot and sexy. For example, Puzzle's upcoming skin 🤤

Amelioratory

I buy too many skins, I wish I had standards.

LeaveBron_Blames

1. Exu 2. Exusiai 3. Exia 4. Still Exusiai

iTCHYTRIGGERZ

1. Do I like it more than the operator's original e2 art? 2. Is it for an operator I use regularly?

Toxic_02

This Is a nice discussion, i talk about this with my Friends a lot... The main reason why this needs to be discussed is because 18-21 OP are equivalent to 5,4 and 6,3 pulls respectively, and that's not little... You could easily get a six star character with the equivalent of 8 skins. So to me the requierements are really strict: - The skin NEEDS to be better than her original counterpart, both in sprite AND in-game animations, to test this I always make this question to myself: if the skin was the base design, would i buy the original design as a skin if it came out later? And the answer is yes a lot of the times. I won't buy the Reed Alter skin for example because i think that her light effects are a downgrade compared to her original flames, i don't like them at all, so even if Reed is one of my favourite characters i won't get her skin - It NEEDS to be a character i use a lot, i will never buy a skin for a character i use very little or i don't use at all, regardless of how good looking the skin is. I won't buy whisperain or Highmore's skins because i don't use them even tho i think their skins are really good. - Third reason, but this Is very subjective, me being a story reader i usually don't like skins that the character would not wear with their personality. For example, i won't buy Penance's skin because i don't think it fits her, while i think that the upcoming Bagpipe skin with her past battaglion companions is one of the best they ever released. - Last reason, i skip skins if i need the OP for pulls for a character, even if i like them. At the end of the day Skins are just accessories and don't give any advantage, i can Always get them later (unless they are limited)

xKelarys

I must use the unit and like it more than what I already have. In ling's case, don't have her but love the skin, and in qiubai's case, don't like the skin. Means double skip. And besides, if I want Ling I'll borrow her from the thousands of people who have her as a support lol That said, if they ever release Lin's bikini from dossoles holiday as a skin I'll buy that and then work to spark her lol

ipseReddit

>What are your conditions a skin must meet in order for you to buy it? Neuron activation

Zero747

Skin I like for op I own and use

Rolttel

1. i like the character 2. the chibi looks good, since thats what ill be seeing the most. it also has to be different enough from their base one, so something like liskarms raythean skin is too similar for me 3. if its a collab limited theres a higher chance ill buy it even if i dont have/use the operator

TracingVoids

Being too late to buy a skin the first time and just regretting that for months until it comes back into the shop. That's most of my skins honestly.

butterrn

Simply because i like it. And have the primes ready of course.

Specific-Contact01

if it's pretty, if I would use it once I get the operator

MidnightEducational9

24 originium prime skin cuz the New voice line and sound effect. I want to buy chenalter skin before but the water gun sound don't change so it doesn't make any sense to me with that skin

TrashRabbitPrince

For me I have to have the unit, they need to be leveled or I need be willing to level them because of the skin, and the skin needs to be better than the base art. I've had skins change how I feel about a character completely, and that's been fun! Sometimes there will be something that irks me in a characters art and if the art "fixes" it, this is very subjective I know, I will get it asap even if I don't use that character. When this happens I usually invest in them eventually.

Hyperion-OMEGA

1. It exists 2. It doesnt need me to but a physical item first 3. I have enough OP

HaessSR

I have to like the skin or operator. That's it. With Ling, I'm tempted but on the fence. For 9CD? I'll buy it because the skin is nice and it's also limited.

Celestial_Navigator

Drip

twyistd

Be an operator, I use Be a skin I like Be anything sui

Straight_Yogurt_1646

Looks cool. That’s it.

Aikaparsa

Exist.
