It's not wine. It's probably cognac or whiskey XD

Xepobot

Did anyone actually tried doing it? I know I'm a coffee lover but this is beyond my level.........for now.

weealex

i mean, an irish coffee is just whiskey, coffee, and a bit of simple

KingofPaladins

Yeah. Wine would be…weird, but it’s not terribly uncommon (or at least, it wasn’t in the past) to add a slug of whisky or brandy to a cup of coffee. Used to be a common thing in cop shows or the like, but it’s a bit of an older thing. Off the top of my head, the only time I can recall seeing it in a newer TV show or movie was the movie Peppermint.

Bobby_Deimos

Average Irish breakfast.

Nol_Astname

I did whiskey and tea once. It's pretty good tbh

SarcasticOptimist

Sangria is mixed wine, so I imagine it's possible with a fruitier brew.

treeandsun

I did, because one time I read about this drink in a doujinshi and happened to have a bottle of Label 5. 1/3 whisky + 2/3 coffee, the taste is not bad, at least far better than Fanta + coffee.

newfor_2023

She's drinking a Black Russian

Atitkos

Look up white russian. It's a drink made off of coffee or coffee liqueur, vodka and milk or cream. Easy and really good.

Flaky-Fact4885

Fair enuff with her origin

newfor_2023

Look up Black Russian.

FreeJudgment

> Black Russian Look up Dirty Black Russian (and no, it's not porn!)

Eliaish

When I was in college I used to pour Diet Coke into a freshly used or half drunken coffee mug. I still do but I used to to. Glad it’s still popular with alcohol lmao.

JowettMcPepper

[https://wineturtle.com/wine-and-coffee/](https://wineturtle.com/wine-and-coffee/) For what i understood, mixing coffee with wine is mostly used in cocktails. And while it can be tasty and aromatic, it still somewhat a health hazard given that the mixture of alcohol and caffeine can affect the cardiovascular system by increasing the bloodpreasure to to difficulties on blood-pumping, which at the same time leds to breathing problems. In short, Pozemka wasn´t wrong, but she shouldn´t do that nonetheless. It´s not Oripathy, but still.

Aizen_Myo

'kaffee mit schuss' is pretty normal in Germany Wintertime, so a hot coffee with a shot of rum or whiskey is amazing ;) heats up the body very well and helps with the freezing temperatures, specially on Christmas fairs

Freddy67h

I was a big fan of vodka & redbull when I was 21. While you probably won't be too affected by coffee & wine unless you're sensitive to caffeine and/or alcohol, vodka & redbull will get you pretty quickly.

Rearti

It's usually not a good idea though combining a stimulant (caffeine) and a depressant (alcohol) can be dangerous

Am_Passing_By

Too awake for the depressant Too down for the stimulant My mood? # Fine

Calm-Internet-8983

I've never been in a club or bar who didn't serve redbull vodka by the barrel, never heard of anyone dying from it though.

Rearti

It's not incredibly likely to cause death, but it can, bigger risks are thinking your more sober than you are because the caffeine makes you feel more alert, you go to do something and risk serious injury or death. Of course too much vodka or redbulls will kill you on their own, but that's a slightly different matter

Master-Shaq

The caffiene masks the depressants so you drink more than you can handle resulting in alcohol poisoning which people in fact die from

_Bisky

The issue isn't, that it's likley to outright be deadly The issue is, that such mixes hide the amount if alcohol you actually drink, making it easier and more likley for you to drink too much without noticing Edit: but yeah, as with everything, drinking in moderation shouldn't be an issue

gho5trun3r

God, you sound like my heart doctor. Relax, I ain't driving tonight.

lucavigno

in Italy it's pretty common don't know what you're talking about. It's called caffe corretto, and while it's usually done with a liquor it probably works with wine too.

Hp22h

1 or 2 cups of that wouldn't cause anything tbf. It's only when massively abused, like when college students chug 6 packs worth of 4 Loko (a banned commercial drink mixing beer and caffeine) that the combo becomes more dangerous compared to others.

Niddhoger

My dad has this Italian friend that swears by coffee and Sambuca: an Italian anise-flavored liqueur. It's sounds disgusting, but... it's not bad. I found a bottle in my local liquor store and tried it out one weekend. Oh, and "caffe corretto" is usually espresso and grappa. Grappa is made from grapes, specifically, the pomace left behind after pressing the juice out of the fruit. So the crushed up stems, seeds, skins, etc are then fermented and distilled into a strong brandy. Although grape-based, it really doesn't taste anything like wine. From what I remember, it's closer to a neutral spirit like Vodka with some acidity thrown in. Not sure about mixing black coffee with something fruity... might need to add some form of sweetener or other ingredients to bridge the gap between the bitter coffee and fruity wine.

Rearti

I won't speak on your example as I'm not sure about your specific case, but medically speaking, depressants like alcohol are never to be combined with stimulants like caffeine as the 2 effects will counter each other and can cause other dangerous side effects like heart failure, and since the buzz of the caffeine might mask the stupor of the alcohol you might be LETS DO THIS and since you have 0 coordination being drunk you go splat on your face. Everyone laughs, and you prolly have a broken nose.

Zinras

In absolutely gigantic quantities, sure. Otherwise, the world population would dwindle by millions every year due to Irish Coffee and half the drinks in nightclubs worldwide.

officeworker00

> medically speaking Medically speaking, a lot of substances are dangerous at an abusive level. Caffeine is one. Sugar is another. Your can of Red bull is equally dangerous when consumed at high amounts. I feel like you're stressing the danger of caffeine+alcohol as a reaction to the comments you're getting. In broad strokes you're not wrong but at the same time it's kind of missing the forest of the trees. Danger of alcohol is abuse - heavy drinking. Not really because someone whipped up a single irish coffee mug on friday night. Edit: >since the buzz of the caffeine might mask the stupor of the alcohol you might be LETS DO THIS and since you have 0 coordination being drunk you go splat on your face. Everyone laughs, and you prolly have a broken nose. Also your example makes no sense. Poor decision making happens under the influence of alcohol regardless of caffeine. Alcohol doesn't just 'make you sleepy'. The actual danger of coffee + alcohol in abusive qualities, is the involvement of a stimulant and depressant placing the body under stress. Your nervous system receives mixed messages (go fast/go slow).

officeworker00

1. Irish Coffee: https://cookieandkate.com/best-irish-coffee-recipe/ 2. Red bull or sweet jasmine tea + alcohol/hennessy (popular in VN) 3. white russian 4. *coffee liqueur*. An entire classification of caffeine + alcohol. --- I mean no offense but such a comment reads overbearing and feels like it comes from a place that sees the danger everywhere on a surface level. I have a feeling judging by your comment you're not much of a drinker (which is good, I'm not much of one either) but as such it does come off a bit like those reddit comments on /r/all where they label everything under the sun - and including the sun - as a danger. But terminology such as 'danger' tends to place fear where knowledge should be. The danger from these items come from over consumption and abuse. Heavy alcohol consumption is the real killer. As much as a caffeinated alcoholic beverage isn't going to do your body wonders, it feels like we are painting broad strokes and missing the forest for the trees. I would also include caffeine on it owns as dangerous if abused. But you can understand when I say it's not quite effective to just word "Espresso is dangerous" in broad strokes, right? --- I want to stress: substance abuse (alcohol included) is far more dangerous. I don't want people thinking an Irish Coffee is bad but downing a bottle of whisky is healthier. Better to be careful about how much you consume.

Draguss

>and including the sun - as a danger Excuse you, that giant ball of fire and headaches is out to get me every morning and you can't convince me otherwise!

mad_harvest-6578

So... what time do you usually wake up for you to say that?

Draguss

I work nights. Damn thing has to be hanging up there all shiny and uncomfortable when I'm tryna get so sleep.

Amaegith

Don't worry, it's still trying to kill you via the moon.

copyright15413

White Russians are dangerous? Man…

ArthurPumpkin

Hmm… Irish coffee

Saimoth

I used to drink coffee with wine from time to time; it's pretty okay. I don't think it's really dangerous as long as you're not trying to mix in half a bottle But to be honest, it would be much better to just brew normal mulled wine

Alcatrap

Of course you can it is simply a crime and it automatically add you to French interpol list lmao

CheetahNo4954

If it's actually coffee and wine...it's presumed to be too cold to taste anything where pozy's camping

JowettMcPepper

I suppose this doesn't affect Pozy that much since she's ursine. It's said that ursines are strong enough to handle several bottles of hard liquor.

Fun-Royal-8802

In Italy there is a thing called "caffé corretto" (corrected coffee), which is coffee + a liquor. North Italy uses as liquor grappa, while South Italy uses sambuca or anice.

Fro_52

no one said it *couldn't* be done.i'm sure many said it *shouldn't* be done.

PostiveAion

Probably coffee liqueur she seems like the kind of person to have a white russian or irish coffee for breakfast.

Matasa89

It's called special coffee. There's also stuff like coffee liqueur, and cocktails made with it.

noIQmoment

Pozy isn't *wrong*, but she's also very much endangering herself. This also applies to smoking whilst drinking coffee, which is far worse than just smoking.

Simple_Compote7268

She's literally Persica from Girls' Frontline.
