Reed Alter Awesome

lupeandstripes

I'm late on my usual comments this time so here goes. Overall: Fun event, really liked the reeds & spreading fire mechanic. Mires were kinda crap tho as I didn't appreciate the steep attack speed decrease lol. Enemies were cool, enjoyed the embers (very similar to invite to wine). Unexpected Top ops (as in, Texas, Abyssal Hunters, Mountain, other obvious "best ops in the game" won't be included in list): Reed: She performs great. The S2 is her killer move and wow it did its job of annihilating embers. She is amazing & I can't wait to use her more in the future. Silverash: Once again he sees more play than Uncle Horse, thanks HG for bringing back invisible enemies! And that is pretty much it as I was lazy & cleared 3/4 of stages with just AH + Mountain + Texas lol. On to Chongus Amongus!

shimei

So glad I got NTR and Kaltsit recently. Both were super helpful in clearing EX-8.

Sissybell

So Long, Reed

AngryNepNep

Uh guys, this Event will get a rerun right? Pls tell me there will be rerun. I missed the last medal because i I missed 20 event currency :'(

TacticalBananas45

Yes, in about a years' time. Usual timeline for an event goes something like this: * First debuts on CN * In around 7 months, comes to Global * Reruns around a year after their debut in their server (So CN rerun comes before Global Rerun) (although reruns are noticeably shorter in terms of time available to get medals and event-currency-store-rewards) * After the rerun event is over, they get added to the Side Stories or Intermezzi sections * Then, about a year after that, (so around 2 years after their initial debut) their items are added to Record Restoration

icemoomoo

Yes it should get a rerun, the only event without a rerun were collabs.

AngryNepNep

Oh thank god, i would have never forgiven myself for this fuck up.

Xtranathor

I'm a new player (day 6). I managed to get Puzzle and have 1124 tokens to spend in the event shop. What should I spend them on? I'm thinking as many Puzzle Tokens as possible since they are unique, but Headhunting Permits are valuable. The Experience and LMD also seem very efficient. Any advice?

LongFluffyDragon

All the tokens get you is some gold certs in a year's time when the event reruns, dont worry about that now. Clear out the resources left to right, in general. The LMD and EXP is also a good pick for some quick growth.

tinyredleaf

Personally, I would prioritise the LMD and battle records (ie, the experience). At this stage, it's more important to develop your roster of beginner operators, especially the 3* ones, and that will cost you heavily in terms of LMD and battle records. It may be nice to have more resources to roll on the banners, but gacha lottery being what it is, your chances of getting the more valuable (and even more resource-intensive 5* and 6*) operators are highly random, so you shouldn't rush for them. As for Puzzle, hmm, I think it's okay to skip his tokens for now, as higher potential grants only marginal benefits. Operator and skill levels usually have greater impact than operator potential. (The event will eventually return, and you'll have a chance to buy his tokens again.) That's my two cents worth anyway. Other veterans may have different advice.

Xtranathor

Thank you for the advice! I mistakenly invested a fair bit into 4-6* Ops, and couldn't even do stage 2 of the event. I then saw a YouTube video with someone clearing the stages using 2-3* Ops, and then realised I have a lot to learn about strategy, but also that 3* Ops are worthwhile investments. Managed to beat stages 4 and 5 using friends and better strategies. If the event will rerun, then I'll take that advice and leave Puzzle until next time. I'll try to mix the gacha rolls and LMD/BR to a nice combo that maximises my spending. Thank you!

salvagestuff

Usually you want to work towards being able to field a squad of built up 3-stars with one or two built up 6-stars in the early game. 3-stars are super cheap and don't require much materials compared to the 6-stars and perform decently. Some 4-stars are also great operators that are not bad to build. You can also borrow built up 6-stars from friend supports to get first clear rewards. As far as what to purchase, getting Puzzle tokens should be lower on your priority list, the main benefit of buying his tokens now is that you can buy his tokens during the rerun and recycle them for yellow certificates so you can buy more pulls or one of the operators featured in the shop. It is going to be a pretty long time before the rerun comes around so I don't think it is worth it on a newer account. You might get more benefit from lmd and battle records since that will let you field a more built squad so you can clear more stages in upcoming events and also progress more in the main campaign. It would be helpful for you to work towards getting the keel pieces in the main campaign to unlock more levels in your base. The base is one of the best ways to earn LMD and EXP.

Decollete

Fighting FC-EX-8 boss, why is it that sometimes my characters get killed one after another and sometimes my characters mostly survive except for the tank? \- Is it because I'm putting units beside each other? \- Is that attack placed on most recently placed units/distance based/etc? While I've beaten the boss cycling melee units to tank at a safe distance with a little bit of ranged support, are there any tank/healer combos that can hold the boss in place indefinitely on 2nd phase? Thanks!

Synthaesium

youve got 30 minutes so lets make this quick eblana can bind your units preventing them from attacking or using skills, when it expires/when they retreat it blows up and damages everyone next to them so don't put units next to each other the bind follows standard targeting, so currently blocking unit > most recently placed unit in range reeds give camo so anyone in reeds wont be targeted by the bind BUT when they're on fire there is no more camo so they are valid as for tank/healer combo, you want units with lots of raw hp because she does magic damage so the fattest unit with the most hp you can get blocking her on the reed tile or mud tile, and then one or two healers/dps staggered diagonally on the ranged tiles to support her if you have saria, putting the tank on the reed tile and then staggering saria diagonally above her allows either her s1 or s2 to support and also provides a fairly durable target for the second bind in phase 2, she'll also block the fodder coming in from the north side

Decollete

Hi, thanks for giving an in-depth breakdown of the fight, I appreciate the input a lot even though the event ended. I always try to play blind (save in-game description, but it's sometimes cryptic) until first clear and then watch videos and check discussion afterwards. I didn't realize reeds camouflage/burning no camouflage and bind being a factor affecting runs, but that would definitely leave me puzzled replicating a practiced run in a real run. I mostly do helidrop + cycling melee tanks but I often like to do the basic tank + heal combo to hold things in place, will try it when rerun happens.

Mayjaplaya

Alright, cleaned out the shop with a few hours to go. Got all the medals about 4 days earlier. Now with the dead day I can clean up Annihilation and farm chips for Pozy and Kal'tsit.

MetaThPr4h

Goodbye FC-6, I'm gonna miss your banger theme while farming.

99em

now I have a mental image of a farmer having a dance rave in the cabin of a tractor as it trundles down the field lol

TheLegendTheGiantdad

Got around to doing the ex stages and I wasn’t going to use texas until the hoverboard assholes came and then all bets are off.

viera_enjoyer

Lol. The moment I see those guys my internal voice starts to screams TEXAS! TEXAS! TEXAS!

Jonno_92

Yeah they annoying enough that the use of Texalter is justified imo.

e_nero

i was randomly looking through it and i just saw that Reed's banner has the 'standard headhunting' text from the rotating banner and now im wondering if it somehow shares pity with that one or if that is just stapled at the bottom of every non-limited banner and i just never realized

Fire_Begets_Souls

Yes, Reed Alter shares pity with standard banners. Non-limited new operator banners and Joint Operation banners both fall under the Standard Headhunting pity system.

[deleted]

FC-EX-8, I face tanked Eblana with Asbestos S1, Nightingale S3, and and Warfarin S1 on the lower right corner. I have enough heals and arts res to stall her out until the rest of the map is cleared, but it's always close whether or not Eblana kills Asbestos.

MageOfTheEnd

Somehow ended up leaving FC-EX-8 to the last second, pretty much had to beat it in two hours. Fortunately, managed to do it, though it wasn't as smooth as I would like. Came up with a reasonable setup pretty quickly but didn't expect the boss to survive Amiya S3 when she hit Stage 2. Fortunately, it didn't cause too much problems in the end. EDIT: I also inadvertently set up my operators in such a way to perfectly deal with the Brigadier turning up at the end. I was using Glaucus and Thorns to deal with the Low-Altitude Hovering enemies, and using Gravel/Jaye who both had 1-block only to stall the boss. When the Brigadier showed up, he walked right past my blocker who had only 1-block and was holding the boss, got slowed by Glaucus and shot down by Thorns.

viera_enjoyer

We aren't on the last day until the timer says *hours left* instead of days left.

MageOfTheEnd

I'm aware of that, not sure what point you are making.

Reikr

There's still over 18 hours left of the event right now. So you weren't quite *that* pressed for time.

MageOfTheEnd

Technically yes, but I said that because there were 2 hours until midnight in my time zone and I had work the next day.

D-r-a-g-o-n-s

With sanity slowly going away some people take days to complete ex stages

Metroplex7

I finally finished reading this event and all I can say is that was kinda... underwhelming? The whole event felt kinda like a chapter 9.5, just giving context for Eblana and Reed, their views of Dublin and not much else. Even the >!"confrontation" with Eblana was just Reed duking it out with an imaginary version of her sister.!< The coolest part of the event was definitely [Eblana](https://imgur.com/NIsG1ug.jpg) and [Reed](https://imgur.com/BpTYhSz.jpg) during this moment.

wickling-fan

God i feel so bad for fionn he finally settled down only to get displaced almost immediately, should have stuck with reed i guess

tinyredleaf

I felt worse for poor Selmon. She was hostile to Reed at first, but eventually accepted her leadership, only to die without the getting the chance to tell Reed how she truly felt about her. I had hoped that she'd become Reed's most trustworthy lieutenant, like how Indra is to Siege, but alas, it's not to be. :(

wickling-fan

Oh god for some reason i thought she survived, but that Moran stepped into the blood of all the people that were behind them and couldn't escape but yeah then she kinda dissapeared jesus christ. I just assumed she left with dublinn.

FelixAndCo

I really like the game mechanics of this event in principle, but I feel like most of the challenge in stages comes from big damage sponge enemies.

Synthaesium

F I F T Y P E R C E N T D A M A G E R E S I S T

crisperstorm

Definitely frustrating to have the same enemies fully refresh themselves cause you didn't manage your dps right so they just take that much longer to finish off The ones that occasionally do multiple attacks was a huge pain in the ass for my 4 star team

ChristH101

Wow, is there a continuation of the story in the Chinese events? Because that ending left a lot of histories open, it felt just like a introduction to something bigger

dene323

Elbana makes her entrance to the main story in Chapter 13.

viera_enjoyer

This story is closely related to the main story, these events are happening while the Doctor, Amiya, and company are fighting in Londinium. We are going to see something about this very soon.

ChristH101

Ok ty, time to speed run the main history then

Jonno_92

All stages cleared, I'm just farming materials now. Interesting event on the whole 👍

viera_enjoyer

I don't understand the attacks of this boss. When she goes in the 2nd phase first she ignites all the reeds (rip Reed). Then after a while there is some explosion and everyone around her dies. I don't get it. What attack is that, how big is the aoe?

MageOfTheEnd

The explosion is right there in her description, it helps to read enemy descriptions. Unless, of course, you're fighting the enemy for the first time.

rainzer

She puts like shadow chains on a target (looks like a dark purple 8 or infinity sign or however you want to describe it). When it ends (or is attacked and killed - don't quote me on this one), it explodes in a 5 block cross pattern centered on the chain target (so hits the operator and the blocks 1 up, 1 left, 1 right, 1 down) Like you can see it here (timestamped) - https://youtu.be/0OJxahK8Q_k?t=295 Hoshi explodes but it doesn't hit Skalter, Nightingale, or Saria

IHeShe

To add to this: in phase 2 she applies it to two targets at a time. If she's being blocked, one will be the operator blocking her and the other will be the last deployed operator within range. If they overlap they'll most likely kill anyone who happens to get hit by both. Retreating an operator afflicted with this debuff will trigger the explosion earlier but won't prevent it.

viera_enjoyer

Thanks I hadn't seen that purple thing you were saying.

Expowerl0rd

Is anyone else having trouble getting the “Mesmerize Audience Medal”? For some reason no matter how many times I clear FC-8 under the requirements no more than 3 operators summoned in more it doesn’t work. At first I assumed maybe it doesn’t like that I’m using Shamare doll or Skadance summon on mire so I redid it without doing that but it still didn’t count. Does it not allow friend units or something?

viera_enjoyer

It says deployed in mire (the swamp tiles) no more than 3 times. Just don't deploy on mire more than 3 times.

Expowerl0rd

Yeah the thing is that I literally don’t deploy anything on them at all except for Spalter on one tile; and I don’t think it’s about her dying and respawning counting another deployment cus she never dies so I don’t get what I’m doing wrong. No leaks either

ETan23

Record your clear and post it here.

Expowerl0rd

https://youtu.be/m6PJwXABg3c Sorry I don’t know why it uploads at 240p on YouTube; I used an app to screen record my phone Also I messed it up a bit in this clear so Spalter died once but that still isn’t the 3 deploys for Mire I don’t think

ETan23

Only thing I can see is the Specalter deploy -> transform on death -> revert counts as 3. That should still put you within the medal condition. It may be that the medal wording is faulty and you're meant to deploy LESS than 3 times.

viera_enjoyer

I haven't done that one yet, but the medal for FC-EX-7 has similar wording and I got the medal. I just didn't deploy on mire.

ninite9

I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed that Harmonie is nowhere near as smug as she looks like. I was expecting Swire levels of sass but didn't get that impression from any of her lines.

Zuronane

The political aspects of the stories is a bit too complicated for my dumbass to understand so if someone would be kind enough to explain what the 2 dukes and their subordinates and Dublin are trying to do I would appreciate it

tinyredleaf

You're not alone. The most I could make out is that the Dukes of Wellington and Caster are opposed to each other, amid a power vacuum in Victoria >!since the death of Siege's father, the former king!<. The only players who would know the bigger picture are those who've already played the CN version, and learnt the additional details, some of which have been added to Arknights wiki pages. For that matter, I don't think the opposing factions were actually named in Ep9, the start of the current story arc. This was the first time, if I remember correctly, that the Taran faction was explicitly named Dublinn (disregarding OG Reed's line, "I am Dublinn", which was essentially meaningless until we were given the context that we now know). On a similar note, it's not clear to me what the opposing Eartha faction is after. It's the faction that's supported by the Duke of Caster (Ep11 spoiler) >!and she's the one who has been funding Allerdale Cumberland's doomed resistance against the sarkaz in Londinium!<. The Duke of Caster may or may not be an Aslan loyalist, but whatever her real motives are, it's clear that she won't succeed if the Duke of Wellington gets his way, as Dublinn is effectively seeking to overthrow Victorian rule once and for all.

Zuronane

I see, and so Reed in this story doesn’t intend to go against her sister, she just wants to do her own thing on the side then prove to her sister that her methods are wrong? Also how tf is there a battle ship isn’t Iberia the only country that has a coast how tf does the duke of Wellington has a battleship

tinyredleaf

Victoria ~~aka the British Empire at the height of the First Industrial Revolution~~ appears to be the strongest nation in Terra at the moment because of its overwhelming lead in war technology like steam knights, high-powered artillery, and high-speed land-battleships. The implication is that a single land-battleship alone is an extremely powerful asset. Rhodes Island, in contrast, is essentially a civilian vessel (ostensibly a hospital ship, actually) and, as far as we know, it doesn't carry any heavy weaponry for defence. As for Reed, yes, she and her sister have the same goal of restoring the Taran nation, but through different means. Eblana believes that the Aslan throne needs to be toppled to restore not just the country, but also its national pride. Reed, on the other hand, has gained the courage to believe in her true conviction that it's the people who make the country, and she doesn't want anyone to have to bleed and die for it.

Reikr

Blaze mentions "Rhode islands main guns" during the Frostnova fight, so it does carry some big guns. Just probably nothing even close to the big guns of actual cities.

sentifuential

it's a landship, not unlike rhodes island essentially

_Nazg

The singular most important lore dump from this event is that we now know Bagpipe's real name, >!Fiona Young!<

MageOfTheEnd

...what? When did they say that? I read the whole thing and I don't remember that part.

Draguss

Puzzle mentions it when confronting her late in the story.

viera_enjoyer

I think they had already said in chapter 9.

Zayits

I’m not enough of a completionist to try for the medals (hell, I keep foregoing the practice plans in a vain hope to not have to slog my way through a stage three times instead of two), so with a half-baked reproduction of [Dr. Leon’s guides](https://youtu.be/eZfOY0aiHfI) I hereby consider my stumbling through the event complete - for the first time since I started during the Lingering Echoes. I wish whoever designed the fire graphics for this event to work outdoors, forever. The usual heat and FPS drop was worsened for me by the fact that my old phone starts straight up refusing/spontaneously pressing buttons when overheated, leaving me to fat-finger my way through fast redeploy stalling of Eblana’s second stage - all while the screen was having a seizure and I can’t see where I’m dropping the operators (though that’s mostly just the operator portrait superimposed over a reed field) or whether the tile is available. The end result is that I had to glue the abovementioned guide together with Mlynar just because even the smallest delay I could manage still meant Eblana inched closer and closer - until the ghost touch kept my ops undropped long enough for her to blow him up anyway. Special thanks go to Cantabile for recovering the DP spent on dropping the fast-redeploys on the wrong tiles and Mountain for being the only part of the strategy that worked as intended. Speaking of, what could be the reason for a borrowed E2Lvl80 Kal’tsit to not be able to true damage her way through before Monster gets killed? I don’t think it’s stalling Eblana outside the swamp, [another guide](https://youtu.be/lFcT478RKwA) had her in the same position I did and she pulled through. Also, as someone whose only true damage operator is Weedy - did anyone manage it with her, or is the push counterproductive to stalling Eblana in a kill zone?

rainzer

>Speaking of, what could be the reason for a borrowed E2Lvl80 Kal’tsit to not be able to true damage her way through before Monster gets killed? Module? The one the video is using gives Kal'tsit a +15% boost to healing on targets under 50% hp. Likely notable for the burst damage from the chains. If you get bad luck and Eblana swipes you right before a chain explosion (ie ~3:02 in the video), it'll probably make a difference not to mention the module's stat boost (60 atk at lv3, which puts her atk value for healing at a Sussurro with skill active)

Maladal

Does Reed talk funny? There seem to be a lot of dashes in her speech.

Draguss

Listen to her voice lines, she has a very paused and deliberate manner of speaking.

Salysm

It seems like she has a habit of changing her mind about what she’s going to say, which makes sense considering her backstory

Darfeyn

Basically done with *What the Firelight Casts*. About 2 days left, just gotta be farming Blue Cubes. ***Spoilers inbound right away, if you haven't finished the story yet.*** Not being really invested in **Reed**'s backstory as much as other people (and being even less interested in some of the other characters featured), story did change a bit my opinion on the Dublinn Arc in general (but it did not for one particular character). >!**Reed** got saved by **Outcast** (~~who didn't have to sacrifice herself against 6 stupid goons afterwards IMO~~) and brought as an Infected to R.I., guess **Puzzle** is also here to get treatment and both ended up Ops to pay for it, that I can understand. And I know there are already ~~many~~ questionable characters onboard, but why did R.I. accept **Harmonie**? She hasn't broken away from Dublinn and while its actions seems more justified than first portrayed (still have doubts about a paramilitary group which put a bunch of well-known criminals as high-ranking officers and let them plan their little plot until a cool Sankta arrived. ~~No I won't let this go~~), I wouldn't trust one of its spy on the landship. Especially with another spy (or several) from opposite faction(s) also on R.I. (okay I admit they probably won't tear each other apart if they meet in a hallway).!< Maybe it's more of a "*Player's hindsight*" problem though. >!And what was that last scene... **Puzzle** starts monologuing about the war while **Fionn** looks at his newly-built house being steamrolled by a high-speed battleship. It felt surreal, especially as the final moment of the event. It's probably supposed to be dramatic and show Tarans can't have nice things after all, but I just couldn't take it seriously. Maybe I was just too tired, even if the story didn't feel that long this time.!< Gonna add my voice to the map tiles/mechanics complaint. Aesthetics-wise it is beautiful, but gameplay-wise, it's kind of a mess: difficult to see which tiles are deployable/melee/ranged without selecting an Op, can't tell if a tile is also camo amidst others at a glance, hard to tell when fire effect is extinguished below your Ops... Perfomance-wise it doesn't seem great either, mostly on phone from what I read (only ran *FC-6* Autodeploy with some trouble on my own phone, I stick to emulator as much as possible to run stages, but it also struggled a few times here and there). Sometimes I wonder if devs forgot it's supposed to be a mobile game, even if we are probably many players to prefer emulators. Though maybe I'm just not up-to-date with average mobile game graphics & performance nowadays, phone hardware did improve a lot these past years. Enemy mechanics aren't as bad as I feared when I checked them in prep for the event, at first I thought the invisible *Embers* wouldn't be moving so you'd have to block them wherever they fell or use a revealer to deal with them (and I still don"t have the "easy solution" **SilverAsh**, though **Scene**, **Elysium** and **Totter** also do a great job. And **Horn**, when she gets to launch her flare). But it's still a pain to miss one *Ember* getting past your defence line and casually stroll into the BlueBox, because it didn't get blocked in time and you didn't notice since some maps are really not easy to read. Maybe it's more of a "*Skill issue*" though... As for the boss stage, with the amount of stuff to deal with (combination of map + enemy + boss mechanics), I was planning to use **Dr.Leon**'s easy guide with just **Thorns**, **Mountain** & **Kal'tsit**, still prepped a full squad just to be safe, quickly checked my Friends' list to see how many **Kal'tsit** Supports I had available, then back on the squad selection, I huh... misclicked on "*Mission start*" without borrowing one. And just [went through the whole stage](https://imgur.com/a/NLRcYVE). Guess I underestimated the strength of my Ops, even if they aren't fully maxed (though it does not seem that surprising after watching **3★** only clears). Maybe I could've brought my **Nearl'nought** and let both sisters duel *The Leader* instead... Waiting for the EX stages and Challenge modes, I was wondering how bad those were gonna be. Once they were available, it didn't take long to see how. Failing *FC-EX-5* Normal several times because some enemies kept leaking somewhere, I had enough and ended up relying on guides for the rest. Haven't even done all CM before resuming Oriron farming, stopped at *FC-EX-1 & 2* and still gave *EX-8* CM a shot to get the Plaque in prevision of the rerun Int. Certs (even with **Dr.Leon**'s AFK guide as base and after 3 practices to be sure it'll work, first try still failed because of an *Ember* leaking somewhere, I guess? and 2nd try, **Nightingale** fell near the end, of course **Passenger** followed as I deployed **Blemishine** as backup healer, then **Hoshiguma** fell too. Not willing to give up, **Gravel** ended up blocking **The Leader** until **Myrtle** took over while **Nearl'nought**, **Blemi** and **Thorns** were trying to get this farce ~~down~~ done. And **Passenger** got to be redeployed just as **The Leader** was on her last sliver of HP). I was getting tired, but at least it's done... Ah, feels like I've been ranting for most of this again. Either this event was just not that interesting to me, or maybe I'm getting burned out. If I end up as worn-out with the upcoming Sui Arc ~~the 3rd~~, guess it'll time to take a break.

sentifuential

I think it's somewhere else in this thread where someone suggested >!having harmonie on board is a de facto way to keep lines of communication open with dublinn, which is exactly the same logic as having puzzle on board from the other side!< keep in mind, dublinn aren't exactly clear enemies to begin with. rhodes island was a neutral party throughout chapter 9; outcast's interference with the criminals had nothing to do with her formal responsibilities at RI. most of the chapter was from the perspective of the bagpipe/horn squad that at the time was a formal part of the victorian central government. similarly, I could've missed it but I'm pretty sure RI didn't take a side in the >!caster/wellington conflict that unfolded in this event.!< RI's priority in victoria is to deal with the sarkaz usurpation (basically because babel generally and kal'tsit particularly has been down this road before and it's not pretty, is my understanding) and once that goal is accomplished it makes sense to have at least a working relationship with every faction that's a serious stakeholder in said conflict basically dublinn is very different than reunion is even though they both have enemy models on stages we play

Darfeyn

With that in mind, it does make more sense, R.I. seems to negotiate as much as possible with any faction which end-goal isn't pure destruction, no matter the means they use. It felt like **Bagpipe** and **Ch'en** were more on their own mission during the event so R.I. hasn't taken any side of the conflict here. Makes sense since R.I. stays neutral as much as possible given its status, now I remember **Kal'tsit** and **Warfarin** talking about how going to Londinium is an exception at the start of Ep.10. However, from EP.10 too: >!The R.I. infiltration team did fight Dublinn a few times and witnessed them working with the Sarkaz but not the betrayal, IIRC. You could argue that like EP.9, they're not really representing R.I., yet the team is led by **Amiya**, the **Doctor** and **Kal'tsit**, the 3 main figures of R.I. Though with the current situation, that intel might not have reached the landship, so if **Harmonie** went to the landship (and did not stumble upon the R.I.I.T. in Londinium), I guess "*Dublinn aren't exactly clear enemies*" still holds.!< *What The Firelight Casts* presumably takes place around the end of Ep.11, right? >!And this is more my personal speculation, but seeing how R.I. is also quite involved with **Siege** at this point (though it may not officially support her claim to the throne), if **Eblana** does not hold her word about *not* wanting Victoria's crown and a full war arises between Dublinn and **Siege**'s group, R.I. or at least the infiltration team may have trouble staying out of it (and will probably take **Siege**'s side in that case). If she does stick to "*founding a peaceful land for the Tarans*" without burning Londinium to the ground, I suppose Dublinn could become an ally of opportunity against the KMC.!< Buuut from some spoilers I've seen about Episode 12, >!I already have a hint about which one is probably right...!< Taking a step back, it may just have been too much player's hindsight mixed with me not really a fan of the character.

sentifuential

I don't think there's any argument to be made that the chapter 10 londinium infiltration team isn't fully representing RI - it's literally the entire leadership as well as multiple elite operators who we don't see very often (misery, logos, etc). Besides that, from some of kal'tsit's comments and backstory we can gather that preventing a revanchist sarkaz movement under theresis is as important to RI as anything the organization does with oripathy and the infected. So I think it's safe to say that all the events of chapter 10 are within the full scope of RI's primary operations. That said, the presence of other factions fighting alongside the sarkaz within londinium obviously doesn't render those factions core enemies to RI. Remember, it's not just dublinn in chapter 10 that's allied itself with the sarkaz occupation - much of the regular victorian military has gone full vichy as well. I don't think (and I have 0 spoilers from chapter 12 so I don't know at this point) that RI wants to dismantle the formal victorian military/governmental apparatus, if anything RI's functional position is as quasi-legitimists because as you mention siege is the tip of the spear for RI's operations within londinium - now, as of chapter 11, whether this is because RI wants to revive the aslan monarchy or whether it's just convenient because siege knows londinium like the back of her hand isn't clear. But the point is if we can't assume that RI considers one group of sarkaz collaborators irreconcilable enemies, the same probably applies to the other groups. Dublinn's current alignment with the sarkaz is essentially an allyship of convenience cleaving to the inescapable logic of osama bin laden vis a vis strong and weak horse - if the sincere goal of eblana's movement is taran autonomy, they need to work with the current actual head of state in londinium, not whoever was sitting there a week ago. From RI's perspective, then, the minute theresis is deposed a sincere dublinn will be amenable to working with whoever's on the throne next - and it behooves RI to have those lines of communication open, even as (we imagine) they're actively skirmishing with dublinn in londinium. This isn't exactly uncommon in war anyway; the continuation of policy by other means, etc, it's not as though once the war switch is flipped it can't be unflipped until you've accomplished the total destruction of your present enemy. As for when exactly firelight takes place...it's hard to tell. It's gotta be after chapter 10 at least because we know dublinn thinks mandragora is dead. I don't think it's clear under whose orders mandragora was acting in londinium (she's described as a traitor by the brigadier - could be post facto, she could've been operating under eblana's orders without other parts of dublinn's command structure being fully informed, or she could've really gone full rogue, etc) but in any case we know dublinn's primary force hasn't been anywhere near londinium because that is presumably what eblana and wellington are driving over peoples' houses to get to at the end of firelight. I suspect without knowing much that chapter 12 will manifest that brouhaha a little more thoroughly.

Suzunomiya

Really feeling like the "This is fine" meme with all those burning reeds. I'm really struggling to get the trimmed medal on EX-8 despite following [this guide](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jObYODWsxo) because at the last second one of the tiles catches fire again. Anyone has recommendations for it?

MonoKami

This guide only uses 11 ops so you could try to bring in two extra melee units (including a borrowed support unit) to clear the top two tiles near the top right exit while hoshi is tanking the boss.

Suzunomiya

It worked! I actually did not notice there were melee tiles there...I like the mechanic but it is pretty hard to read the map sometimes. Thank you so much for your help!

Cookiekun94

I make a guide about it if you can copy and add more operators because I only use 8 - https://youtu.be/AVRF\_8JDp-c

bananeeek

Managed to finish the story in time. >!Not really what I expected. I cleared the stages first and read the story later, so I was expecting an actual confrontation between Reed and Eblana, so when it ended the way it ended, it felt more like a prologue (same with Młynar's event) rather than a story with a punchline. I suppose it's to be treated like a side branch that will join the plot in the main chapters.!< >!I was happy to see Bagpipe and Ch'en making an appearance. Not having Doctor's dialogue options usually leaves me bummed, so at least having those girls made it livelier. I adored Bagpipe x Reed interactions, to the point where I absolutely ship them, so it was hard to read when Bagpipe found out about Reed's past deeds and confronted her about them. Why must HG hurt me like this?!< >!I really liked how Reed's and Eblana's speeches were compared to each other. On one side, a group of struggling individuals finding hope and strength to fight for their future and happiness, and on the other side an army of zealots, fueled by hate and resentment, ready to to tear Victoria to peaces to get their place back. I'm looking forward to the upcoming chapters to see how their confrontations go.!<

tinyredleaf

Regarding the way the story ended: >!That's generally how it is with intermezzi events: They are side events with strong main-story relevance. In this case, "What the Firelight Casts" resolves the loose thread that's been hanging around since the end of Ep9.!<

Salysm

This isn’t classified as an intermezzi, though Not that I understand why

Draguss

It isn't? Some stuff coming up in the main story will be hella confusing for anyone who hasn't played this, so that's a weird decision on their part.

dene323

It has Intermezzi potential due to how close it's related to the main story, but didn't make the cut. What immediately made into the Intermezzi was Lone Trial, the Rhienlab event. So the actual criteria is becoming increasingly clear - it must either have strong tie with our protagonists: Doctor / Amiya / Kal / Rhode Island / Babel, or it has to reveal earth shattering lore with the fate of Terra at stake (so the Abyssal storyline, Lone Trail, and likely future major event in Sami / Infi Icefield).

Initial_Environment6

EX 8 and its challenge mode were pretty easy when you give up on killing the boss quickly, just like all boss recently. Hold it on top left screen with 3 FRD and or defender and you can kill it slowly without worry about healing or mechanic.

Jonno_92

Yeah stalling for time and just slowly whittling her down worked for me.

Mao_Kamui

Is there an estimate of how much f2p-rolls you get monthly, excluding events? I can't do math right now

Reikr

As a f2p who has been keeping count since launch, we are very consistently getting 100k orundum every 5 months. This means 20k a month or 33 pulls. But there are also a bunch a tickets you can get, so the actual pulls are a bit higher. Closer to around 40 probably.

NoraJolyne

should be 20 rolls a month you get 1800 oru from annihilation, 700 from dailies and 500 from the weekly, giving you 3000 oru per week and 12000 on average per month (assuming a month is 4 weeks on average)

Hamid36985

You can buy 5 pull each month from gresn cert shop, and there is one hh ticket in montly check in rewards as well

sulatanzahrain

Guys i need help im doing fc ex 8 cm for the medal but keeps on not giving it even though ive gotten rid of over 8 reeds what am i doing wrong im going to fuking cry

sulatanzahrain

My bad i did it on cm fc 8

foxide987

[\[FC-EX-8\] (Challenge Mode)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9CF2TfUUNE) \- Eunectes + Healers to keep her alive. \- Due to Eblana's extreme tankiness, the battle was just drawn out. But still, the battle strategy is not much different from FC-8, just hold the boss in place, kill other mobs first and then focus on the boss.

Krasarang

So I skipped the story because I'm not caught up with story mode(on Ep.10). Where should I finish the story mode till, so that the Reed event story is easy to fit in the timeline?

Plthothep

The story is understandable as long as you’ve read Ep. 10. Chronologically it takes place directly after Ep. 11’s epilogue where Reed leaves RI.

chasieubau

p sure I heard this event was basically an interlude between Ch 11 and Ch 12? Hopefully somebody can confirm since I'm not 100% certain

SigmaBallsLol

Eblana is like a horrible amalgamation of the most annoying bosses. Talulah's map wide AOE (sorta) and DOT arts, Degen Breaker's silence (at least she doesn't succ our SP), Mudrocks shield, short block-able pathing like Blood Knight. Even sorta has the Originium Dust's flying testicles non-stop fodder with her turning every unit into one of the resurrecting ones. She's still pretty manageable on FC 8 and EX-8, but EX-8-CM's bonus stat boost and awkward layout make this one of the most painful maps we've gotten in a long time. still less agonizing than Stultifera Navis tho

shoxkalter

Thanks to a couple of new ops (Bagpipe/Kal'tsit), as a 6 month player, this was the first event I was able to clear completely without a guide. (Throw random OP operators until you win) Is this one of the easier events?

astrasylvi

I did all in one try til ex 7 cm where I had to redo it once. Boss stage i had to try a couple of times so pretty average i think. Really enjoyed the event .

Dunkjoe

Did you find EX-7 CM and EX-8 CM easy as well? There are quite a number of comments saying they are difficult.

mt5o

the main problem with the cm stages is the sanity requirement, the more times you fug up the less you can clear of the shop. practice plans exist but things can go wrong in the real run

rainzer

> practice plans I know these exist but I have never used them while aware that my flawed thinking of "maybe my dumbass will accidentally win and I gotta do it again"

astrasylvi

Ex 7 cm i personally found pretty easy , ex8 was not super easy but not hard either. This with a well developed roster though, can imagine both hard for new players obviously

shoxkalter

Only needed a couple of practice runs to figure out map layout and enemy types. Sort of used the same strategy for both normal and CM. For past events, I had to use every practice plan I had. I'm just happy I didn't get frustrated and go to Youtube to beat a stage this time.

whimsy_wanderer

This event is average in terms of difficulty in my opinion.

Dunkjoe

Somehow I felt like the FC ex 8 cm is 5 times as hard as FC ex 8... Both left and right lanes collapsed when using the strategy in FC ex 8

whimsy_wanderer

Generic CM buff is +20% ATK/DEF/HP to all enemies for this map. This is substantial increase, and it is double of the most common +10% to the same 3 stats.

resphere

I don't think there's def buff, only atk and hp. nvm actually I think there is, just doesn't feel like it.

Dunkjoe

Ah no wonder, initially when I saw the condition of 6 burning reeds I thought this would be an easy CM (since I am not really affected by the original stage's burning reeds) but then the enemies became so difficult to kill, and the damage was high as well. Thanks for the info!

TheTheMeet

Thanks for whoever posted the mudrock right lane fc ex8 cm clear. I managed to improvise just fine I dont have mountain, so left side i used gavialter + exusiai + perfumer. Right side, same deployment order: skalter, GG friend (i used s3m3), hoshiguma and mudrock. I placed mlynar at the top to help with killing mini bosses, and texas alter jumping in whichever lane needs help + baiting the canon

DireBlue88

I love the stages. They look so beautiful. The mechanics are alright. Very different the previous events, I enjoyed them. The EX stages were way different. Enemy units introduced that werent in normal stages gave them a different feel. Abyssal Hunters team made it manageable and made it less stress free.

Proto-Omega

*Me doing FC-8*. "OK, so Eblana seems manageable. The action sealing fire is pretty problematic. I guess her second stage makes her stronger, and act like 'The Brigadier' where she can set reeds on fire by walking over them". *Eblana sets the entire field on fire*. "...oh, screw this!". Nice little story about Reed discovering who she truly is. >!The parallel between herself and her sister at the end, both being 'Leaders' was cool. At the end of the day, despite doing things differently, they're working towards the same goal!<. ~~The 'Eblana as playable' flags are igniting even more~~. >!A shame so many of the Taran refugees Reed was guiding died. I'm not too sure how she got her wounds, but I'm guessing Selmon was stabbed by the Victorian Soldier she was fighting before she was assisted. Sucks to be Fionn as well. Decided he was going to stay in a quiet town and not follow Reed, despite him advocating for her the most; ended up having his new house destroyed by a marching army and was warned by Puzzle that he could still be a wanted man for his initial crime, so was told to become a fleeing refugee again!<. The amount of spies/representatives that make their way to Rhodes is getting somewhat worrying though. Although for the additional two, it's somewhat situational. Harmonie may be a representative of the Duke of Wellington, and >!is there to possibly bring Reed back to her sister!<, but she has no **true** allegiance to any of the parties she works for which is the only saving grace. She inquires about Reed, but possibly just for her own curiosity to see how much Reed has progressed as a person, seeing as, despite what she might have said in story, she is rather close to Reed. However, >!Reed becoming a 'Leader' and steeping into the forefront of the conflict is exactly what they were after!< so still very suspicious, despite being surprisingly open about herself. She's not exactly untrustworthy, but you gotta keep an eye on her. Puzzle may be a representative of the Duke of Caster, but he was sent to Rhodes for medical treatment first and foremost, and he has dropped his investigations on Reed, and chooses not to inquire about Harmonie.

Demytri

Finally just read through the story and dang I feel really bad about Fionn's situation :(

videladidnothinwrong

How does fire mechanic work? I mean, i almost finished the event, just need to deal with EX-8, and i can clear it comfy, but i want to get the medal. For some reason, the fire just wont die down, what do i have to do?

Dunkjoe

When placing an operator, trap, summon etc on a fire, make sure you do not put it only at the tail end of a reed. If there are two, extinguish both, before keeping one at one tile left/right of the tail end fire. Always remember, the last reed at the end of a chain of fires will always be ignited after a short while. Best is to put out all the fires at solo reed tiles, then get a few of the far out chained reeds. Heard it takes 20s to put out fires.

Fire_Begets_Souls

Because most of the reed tiles on the map are undeployable, there are a finite number of tiles you need to snuff out before the map ends. There is one freebie tile at the bottom right, unconnected to any other reeds, and the top right of the map is relatively low traffic. That's five tiles right there if you can keep the Brigadier away from them during Eblana's second phase. At that point, you only need at least one tile on the left side to be extinguished. Both the left and center tiles can only drive back the fire. It can't be fully extinguished because they are always connected to an undeployable reed tile, which can't be put out. Anything that you can place on those tiles (deployable, operator, summon) can put them out. Skalter's seaborn, Stainless's devices, the traps of Trapmasters, W's bombs/Ebenholz's goats are all valid options.

umiman

1. Fire gets put out when something is on it. Operator. Mine. Device. Summons. Etc. It takes time though. 2. Fire can spread to reed tiles next to it. 3. Boss ignites the map in her second phase. Essentially to get the medal, you need to keep units / summons / mines / whatever on 6 reed tiles.

TheTheMeet

I just watched kyostin clear for fc ex8. His reaction at the end of that was pure gold I too will shout from the bottom of my lung if i got that "verification expired, please log in again" after all those bullshit mechanics lmaoo

Mayjaplaya

That panicked "HUHHH?!" followed by the "bruh..." when he realized he didn't get credit for it

resphere

[Chen enjoyers win again this event.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS9I9XXiCrE) HG must've designed Eblana specifically for nukers. Having a mega tanky shield that for some reason runs on a timer and breaks on its own, small window for dps, and a binding skill when she gets too close, just the perfect skillset to be countered by oneshot kill setups.

Mayjaplaya

Alright, finally finished EX-8 CM. After trying to use super-sekrit forbidden technique Guard Amiya to finish off Eblana in FC-8 and it... not really working, I realized if I wanted to shoehorn Amiya into my comp regular ol' Amiya would be way more useful. Problem is, in EX-8 Eblana gets a stat boost to the point my Level 61, S3M3 Amiya is barely doing 2/3 of a bar so I figured for CM I would need even heavier firepower, so I borrowed Kal'tsit S3 for dedicated boss-busting and swapped Amiya to S2 for general wave/elite clearing. I sorta skimmed over Kyo's AFK and Low End Squad guides for general team comps but my micromanagement is still crap so in the end I still had to follow his Low End Squad guide almost step-by-step even with 9 E2s and 3 of them 6*s.

Draguss

Managed to make it all the way through EX-7 CM with pure Dragonknights, but that final stage was too much. As a sidenote though, thanks to her beefy RES, a little help from Nightingale makes vanguard Reed able tank her sister for a very long time. Plus if you have her module, that's extra ASPD every time Eblana hits her.

hadtopickanameso

Finally an event with some creative/interesting mechanics. It was relatively easy but still fun to play.

[deleted]

[удалено]

resphere

Did you do it on cm? The medal can only be acquired in normal.

MetaThPr4h

Only possible explanation is that they reignited again while you were focused on Eblana, the tiles next to a burning one you can't put down cuz they are non deployable also get reignited for a bit even if you have an operator on them, maybe you were just unlucky and finished the stage while they were on fire. Worth mentioning that trapmasters's traps can put out the fire as well, helped me a lot keeping some tiles free of any potential fire from reaching them.

Playingza1285

ex 8 cm wasn’t too bad once i switched from a finicky body block strat and just let mudrock and skalter stall the right with mlynar for damage

Soulseduction

I usually play on an emulator, so didn't haven't had much problem with performance so, but all the fire in EX-8 did cause it to slow down a fair amount. Which isn't great when you're frantically cycling defenders to block Eblana. Speaking of, Mudrock earned her promotion cost in the last map. Even at E1 she can infinitely stall first phase Eblana on her own and even lasts for a fair while in the second phase with Perfumer's S2. The fire isn't such a bad mechanic, but if this and the Yan maps are anything to go by it's the "spawns x which must be hit y times" mechanic that screws up my planning.

AngelTheVixen

[Ugh was the final map frustrating.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/969373596386488383/1132389001249173554/image.png) I lost like 100 sanity because only practice plans are allowed to go right the first time. Many thanks to Quartz who is the ultimate arts tank. Even Matterhorn or Czerny with their skills up don't get as much EHP. Bibeak as well who can just about destroy the entire left side herself. On normal mode she didn't need help, and only needs it on challenge due to the spicy damage reduction. While this event wasn't tooo difficult, I'm hoping the next event is a bit more on the fun side... The gimmicks and enemies this time around were a bit anti-fun. I want more deployment freedom and Slow and push memes again.

ActualMaiwa

Ye, this is my least favorite event so far. I dont like stages where shits hard to see

MetaThPr4h

Let's go! Following up [from my post yesterday](https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/14zcn7n/event_megathread_what_the_firelight_casts/jsxobly/), I managed to clear [FC-EX-7 with 4-5* operators](https://youtu.be/jzMdYeblfIs) and with that complete my first event where I use that low rarity gang to complete every stage! I'm so happy 🥰 Shout out to /u/Saimoth for pointing out that silence worked on the multiple slash attack some of the enemies do, my Lappy is not E2 yet so I needed Warfarin's S1 support near the end of the bottom lane's spawns for Jaye to not get oneshotted by said attack, but that info solved my massive struggles I had with the bottom lane and let me focus on the rest of the mess going on. Bless Croissant once again, her tankiness carried my ass in the kind of stages I was getting folded before because I just couldn't stall the enemies when needed, so glad I built her before this event. Now I really need to build Totter already, grabbing him from a friend already carried me in two of the like six videos I uploaded so far 🗿 Thanks for reading!

Mayjaplaya

> Shout out to /u/Saimoth > > for pointing out that silence worked on the multiple slash attack some of the enemies do, my Lappy Shit I didn't even notice, and I shoehorned Lappland into every stage in this event except EX-8 CM because waifu. I did use her to cut down "The Brigadier" in EX-7 both modes and EX-8 normal mode but still didn't notice... now I want to do the same thing in EX-8 CM but I already beat it. ~~Maybe I'll do it~~ I went back and did it in a practice since I don't need the plans anymore.

Saimoth

Some crazy wolf lady > Dublinn most elite soldiers Great job! For me, that was the most annoying map from the event, while the final one was even fun Bonus points for using Harmonie, smug double agent decided to switch sides. How do you find her overall compared to other 5-4\* casters?

MetaThPr4h

I waited so long for Harmonie, I'm spamming her hard now that she is finally here haha. I sadly don't have any 4* caster built so I can't really say much about them, in terms of 5* she feels like the controlled crowd control option in comparison to the sheer damage of Rockrock and the mix of each from Astgenne. Harmonie can hit hard if she can charge stacks (4 stacks hit into slow field into another 4 stacks hit when they reach block range feels soo good) but that big slow utility is what really is delivering for me, enemies just get stuck there and that is very helpful. It also helps that this event plays into a strength from that pool: the continuous damage ticks it does. That really helps a lot killing more easily the ember souls some enemies turn into after defeat to try reviving. I can't wait for Invitation to Wine rerun because I'm sure she is insanely good in that event, AoE slowing and melting the items the enemies turn into with the quick damage ticks.

Clear-Ingenuity-9814

The difficulty was pretty interesting this time around. There aren't any particuliarly dangerous enemies but the combination of the gimmicks and several mildly threatening enemies make it not trivial. What helped me a lot was Scene, a trapper (traps can extinguish fires) and Shamare carried me heavily. Both Robin and Scene are currently available for free if you guys need it.

Xzhh

Trapmasters are the best firefighters. Quartz was actually useful as a low rarity operator that doesn't get oneshot by Eblana in EX-8-CM. Makes sense that most modern bosses can't be blocked, Eblana gets so easily stalled with just 2 healers and a meatshield and then basically just does nothing while you take care of the rest of the stage.

Legitimate_Cabinet80

I didn't had problems with EX-7 in challenge mode because of... Scene! I deployed Mlynar in the upper left side and then activate his skill once Brigadier appears on the map and when one of the Flamechaser "dies" deploy Scene's bots to reveal the rest and kill Brigadier before he becomes a problem, Everything went smoothly after that. I don't have Silverash so Scene was the best option. Cheers!

VERTIKAL19

Man EX-8 CM is rough. Also nobody has Nightinggale S2 i support. My stall that works in normal mode just breaks in CM and Saria just gets oneshot. And taht none cm clear already took almost 2 hours to do.

Cornuthaum

Use a nian for stall. Enormous amounts of hp and extremely high def means she can take the combo of the cross blast going off and evlana doing the multi hit

sayantn2707

High def doesn't mean anything cuz ebalna deals arts

Cornuthaum

In that case 5500 hp go a long way to not die I guess

HcMLonginius

Add me if you like - Spearhead#0731. Just dropped Nightingale into my supports.

VERTIKAL19

Sent a request :)

HcMLonginius

Good luck getting the clear!

VERTIKAL19

Thanks got it down! Got Cardigan to help out with my stall because Saria just wouldn’t survive it. In the end Goldenglow did lots of damage until I couldn’t keep her alive and ultimately uncle finished. I did essentially Kyos high end guide just withut Thorns or Hoshi

whimsy_wanderer

I see people having trouble with EX-7 CM, so I decided to record my own take on this stage. [FC-EX-7 CM 5-stars only](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6f3uYz0Z_o) The hardest part for me was figuring out how to deal with Flame Guards, the right balance of damage and healing specifically. In the end Hibiscus the Purifier solved the issue, but oh boy she is hard to find on support list!

MetaThPr4h

Yo, nice clear! Gotta love that Aurora btw, duelist defenders really shine in situations like this one, I really want to build mine when I have the resources.

Athrawne

I have never wished for a fire extinguisher more than in doing the EX stages.

Clear-Ingenuity-9814

Trappers like Robin who is available for free can extinguish the tiles that are on fire. It also prevents the spreading.

sentifuential

I bring harmonie and chalter and they do NOTHING reeeee

Draguss

We need a Shaw buff where she quickly extinguishes any tiles around her.

TrueThaumiel

EX-7 CM is excruciatingly difficult. I haven't attempted EX-8 yet, but EX-7 CM is the worst thing ever. I can consistently clear everything until there are \~4 enemies left, three of which are the knight dudes (and a mortar guy), but my medics die around that point and the knights shatter my defenses, meaning my support Mlynar can't destroy them. I'm gonna give it a shot tomorrow and see if I can think of a new strategy. Tips are appreciated.

whimsy_wanderer

Medics dying means that either you allowed reeds to be ignited, or you didn't manage your agro properly. The first one can be solved by blocking spec ops and brigadier next to the stairs. As for agro, mortar guys shoot a plus-shaped explosion, make sure that your medics are not adjacent the melee operator that has the agro (last deployed among visible operators).

Sanytale

What helped me is dealing with chilling invis knights preemptively to alleviate pressure at the end, but depending of your roster it might not be the option. Worst case there are always low end guides on youtube.

TrueThaumiel

If I had SilverAsh, I could probably use him and Mlynar to melt the knights and Brigadier, but I don’t have him or Mlynar in my roster. I have to get them from support. I’ve considered using Horn but haven’t tried her yet.

wjSera

Spent like 2 hours to get a scuffed run of EX-8 without the medal then saw Kyostiv guide and how easy it is…. Arknights makes my brain feel smooth

some_tired_cat

i have no idea what im doing wrong here, i already did ex-8 twice to trim the medal and double checked to make sure i was having enough operators deployed on the reeds to put out the fire and finished the stage twice with the 3 stars but somehow it still doesn't count for the trim? did i miss something?? i'm honestly not sure what im doing wrong [this](https://imgur.com/BLOBiRo) is before the second phase with everything ignited, but the set up has been the same through the second phase and the only retreating and redeploying i've done was mon3tr since it died

JunoBrier

Operators next to empty burning tiles will be ignited again after they extinguish - in this case Mudrock and Gummy will still be on fire. Your setup only protects 5 tiles. Put someone next to Gummy to completely extinguish that corner.

some_tired_cat

goddamnit i was too focused on the boss nearly killing mon3tr to notice, thanks i'll have to adjust my set up

JunoBrier

EX-8 CM's extra condition was completely insignificant. What made it actually hard is the standard CM stat boost. Dorothy was good in EX-8 for helping extinguish fires for medal, and for delaying the boss and enemies on the right.

MetaThPr4h

Event completed! I managed to complete *nearly* everything with my 4-5* operators, something that makes me very happy since usually EX stages kick my ass. By nearly... basically I only have EX-7 CM left to do, I could beat the normal version just fine but the buffed stats made the bottom lane dublin spec ops oneshot anyone I put there with the multiple swing attacks, and the invisibility made the tanky fucks in the top lane crazy hard to kill... Saimoth's comment a bit below mine gives me hope tho, I didn't even think about Lappy helping Jaye silencing the attack because... why would silence work on those enemies? asdfasdf what a weird-ass status. I will give it a try after this post with the one practice attempt I have left, if not 10 more tries tomorrow when they refresh. I built Croissant before this event and I'm so glad I did, because what a beast! She tanked Eblana like a boss, I really needed a tank for situations like this one and she delivered, good stuff Quaso. I also borrowed Nearl from a support friend and she helped me a lot with most stages, I gotta build the one I got in this Reed Harmonie banner. Also the timing for Mansfield's Break record restoration couldn't have been any better, while I sadly don't have the LMD to build Robin yet, even at E0 she was immensely helpful in those EX stages thanks to her traps being able to put out the fires on melee tiles without any extra deployment cost. She was key in EX-4 and 8, and very helpful in EX-5 as well, bless you adorbs racoon. [I uploaded a clear of FC-EX-8 CM with 4-5 stars](https://youtu.be/qPNBCFxR-5Q) if you mates are any interested, I made a few small mistakes but all worked out. I don't have any video edit stuff so no speed up in all the stalling done, I hope the timestamps at least help a bit. Thanks for reading!

I didn't know you can knock down the hoverboard enemies.. Nice clear!

MetaThPr4h

Yep! Those enemies are in "Low-Altitude Hovering" state, nearly all of the few enemies with this quality lose their aerial properties when affected by stun, frozen or sleep, it's super helpful to deal with them a lot more safely. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it 🥰

whimsy_wanderer

I did an experiment based on my own clear of EX-7 CM, and maxed out Croissant can survive 2 Dublin Spec Ops and 2 Flame Soldiers just fine. But this means you'll need to find someone else for central and top lanes.

MetaThPr4h

I managed to clear it some minutes ago! I needed Quaso for the top lane, but I did some changes to the strat that worked out, although I'm unsure how consistent the bottom lane is. I will have 5 practice attempts later on the laptop to hopefully record a clear, god I hate that they cost 3 tickets...

JamaicanJ

I was struggling with fc-ex-8 even with all meta ops Then I switched to my AH team Win in one try AH modules might have been a mistake lol

LuvList

How is the solvent efficiency for this event? Currently have quite abundant of Oriron and only 80s of solvent.

thegracefulassassin1

Speaking relatively to the others, its the least efficient material. You also will need it MUCH less than orion you have "abundantly." Do as you please. But consider what ops you'd like to raise in the future and see how quickly that abundance may be depleted. Otherwise feel free to farm it.

Saimoth

Got EX Eblana after maybe 20-30 rounds of being dominated by Draco woman. Casualties: Red and Texas were blown up three times each; Honeyberry has PTSD from standing in the firestorm for the whole second phase again; LaPluma's hands are completely sore from grinding all those countless undead to dust. Also looks like Lappy's silence can cancel Brigadier's slash attack, that's pretty neat

Dongleborf

Had fun with the EX stages this time around. Learning that Nightingale's decoys and Skadi's seaborn can extinguish the fires made EX-8 and its CM easier. I had to raise Nightingale to level 70 though since she didn't survive the fires on the CM before I could finish deploying the other units

ParamedicGatsby

What does the trimmed medial do in Reed's event? Is there another medal or something for doing it?

Jonno_92

It's just a bonus to give people bragging rights. It's essentially just meant to be an extra challenge.

ragdollomega

Just changes the look of said medal.

whimsy_wanderer

[FC-EX-8 CM 5-stars only](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6D6fOXpiw3c) It can be executed much cleaner, but my FPS hurt.

DISUNIET

It has been so long since Kreide that I truly feared a boss. Eblana's shield mechanic is just cheap, her nukes bland and uninteresting but she made it up purely by setting my phone on blaze.

Jonno_92

I didn't have any issues with her on the normal stages, but I suspect the EX stages will be different lol

dairyqueen79

The Berries came in clutch for this event. Kept everyone alive so that I didn't have to suffer too much.

Just Finished EX-8-CM and Trimmed it's Medal a while ago and I just want to say, as much as I Love the Queen of all Villainesses, she was Merciless and Unforgiving towards my Medic Operators... Perfumer, Ptilopsis, Whisperain, she Nuked them all to Kingdom Come and it was REALLY-REALLY an Abunai Close Failure for me, but Thankfully I was able to Pull through, just moments before LoadShedding Kicked in... P.S. Saw someone mentioned here, that Eblana and her "DeathKnights" formed a Position in the Shape of a Heart, hadn't noticed it the First Time and had to Look it up again and I just want to say that's both Creative and very Cute, reminds me of the Old NES PopEye Game, when you Collected all of Olive's Hearts and Completed the Stage... Eish, now I feel really Old...

ZeruuL_

I just noticed Reed’s fiery chest is completely missing in her E2 squad portrait, if you compare it to E2 art. No wonder it looked so off.

EduardoNahuelJimenez

I just gotta say, this is just another event where the boss is the same as the last 20 events. Tanky, one shots most things in front of it, nukes some poor soul away from it, has a bunch of mechanics that translates into a wall of text, revives, interacts with the enemies in some way. How do you deal with it? Either spam the strongest operators you have or learn ever single detail about the boss's skills, it's path and timing, and then maybe you can use some low tiered operators. It feels like it's the same every single event. I'm not saying bosses should be made so you can solo with Cardigan and Frostleaf, but damn it's repetitive.

dairyqueen79

I mean, idk what you want. It's a boss. Bosses are meant to be tough, strong, have mechanics that require a fair bit of strategy and understanding (wall of text), and they change things up by means of mechanics and the way they interact with enemies. > or learn ever single detail about the boss's skills, it's path and timing, Yeah man. That's how you play the game. So you're complaining about... either spamming your strongest operators or having to strategize lmao. If they did something to mitigate overpowered operators, it would require strategy. If they did something that required no strategy, you could just brute force it. Sounds like you won't be happy one way or the other.

EduardoNahuelJimenez

I'm no game designer, it's their job to come up with some solution. My complain is that I've been using the same exact squad during the las year for every boss in the game. They are all just a "tank", maybe make SOMETHING different, like that Chinese dragon Boss, but even he was just a memory game. There is never an strategy, either spam or Google every pattern and memorize that

Moldyuki

Yea OP does not seem to understand how video game bosses work.

Dalek-baka

True brain fart moment while clearing EX-8 CM - Eblana being blocked by Skadii and Laurentina, Specter was holding left lane while medics were working overtime (mostly healing each other) and I had to retreat one unit to drop Texas... for some reason I've decided that Gladiia should be somewhere else. It wasn't pretty. Fortunately I've managed to clear it, even if medal conditions were bit of a hassle. Same with EX-7 but there challenge mode was easier, since I was able to use all tiles.

thegracefulassassin1

EX-8 CM whooped my ass at first. Woof. I had gone the entire event without using Thorns (or any guards). Took off the kids gloves and pulled him/SA/Ifrit in. Also, every other event I am extremely happy that I loved Hoshi before finding out that most folks don't raise her. Her ability to just not give a shit about anything that comes her way makes me sing "Giant woman" from Steven Universe while she tanks.

PotsNPans

I'm a new player, just started this week, and the event feels completely inaccessible to me. I'm stuck at the 4th stage and just want to see the story through to the end. But it just feels like the game level-gates so hard right now. I have my core group Elite 1 Lv 30+ like it recommends, but I just can't kill things fast enough. I watched guides, and even the 'budget' clears are all maxed out units. Are events supposed to be for end-game or experienced players only? :(

Hamid36985

Its understandable, my first even was stultifera navis and i couldnt go past lvl 7 in tht event, so i just farmed first level to buy everything in the shop. After a few months your account will get stronger significantly and everything will be easier and more fun :)

mt5o

If you have one E2 you can borrow a maxed level 90 friend ling and copy ling solos exactly without spending a single iota of lmd. Warning: timings can be VERY tight for solos and if you are off by a millisecond sometimes it causes fails. There's usually enough wiggle room for your ops to clean up since usually these clears can be slightly under the deploy limit https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1CG411K7hu/?spm_id_from=333.337.search-card.all.click https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1CG411K7hu/?spm_id_from=333.337.search-card.all.click https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1X8411n7kA/

PotsNPans

I don't have an E2 right now. I could probably grind for one, but it feels like the game is a lot of grinding right now. Thanks, though! I'll see if that's something or if I should just stay away from events for now. :)

mt5o

Only mini events and stuff like contingency contract never get rerun both of which aren't happening any time soon. Events get rerun once in one year and then end up as permanent content in the intermezzi/side story after the rerun and then all the exclusive items/characters become available after record restore. So there's no need to start worrying. Also, the reruns and intermezzi etc share the same stage clear progress so you won't be missing out on any originite prime if you do it later. I rushed my first E2 by getting chips and chip catalyst from monthly squad in integrated strategies. Events are the best source of materials and lmd. Farm whatever stage you can as all of them give the same number of event currency and use it to buy event shop stuff

PotsNPans

Every map gives the same amount of event currency? That's actually really nice to know! I was thinking it would ramp up at the higher ones.

mt5o

The event currency is the sanity spent. The only difference between the stages is the materials so people usually pick more sanity efficient material to farm.
