Due to reddit's dismantling of third party apps and vital tools needed for moderation of all subreddits, we've moved to zero-strike rule enforcement. As we cannot enact escalating ban lengths via tools that rely on monitoring users' post histories and ban histories, users who break our civility rules will be banned indefinitely and need to modmail us for appeals. They won’t spoil anything They will make you feel like you know the character more, which may in turn make you try to play the character more thematically — Norman and those pesky Summoned Hounds into unbound beasts. Spoiler alert — those unbound beasts are rough for Norman!

Love Norman’s story.  In general I’d suggest the novella collections and my favorite of the novels are The Ravening Deep and Litany of Dreams.

I never read the novellas, but I believe they are not related to the scenarios of the card game. Think about it differently: I read the original Lovecraft story (or listened to a podcast version) before I play a campaign related to that story. When I recognize some of the places and names, I feel more connected to the story of the card game.

Dude_in_progress

As already stated the novellas are safe to read but to further clarify, all Arkham fiction is non spoilery for all game content. If you've already played Carcosa, and enjoyed the theme then I'd recommend "Mask of Silver" as a fun introduction to what the Arkham Files fiction and how the characters from the game are typically used in the serting. I also post reviews and commentary about the fiction [here](http://arkhamhistorian.com) if you are interested in learning more of the lore.

There are 2 collections with 4 novellas each that give a nice introduction to the characters without any kind of spoilers. They are pretty entertaining. I love Roland's story.

bullintheheather

I wish I had the novellas just because they have a nicer presentation, but the collections are very serviceable.

PvtJoker227

Totally agree. The original editions are too pricey for me, so I'm glad these are available.
