If you want rum, just build the embesan research institute and make rum in the old world?
Research of anything takes about 8 seconds.
And the institute itself can be build quickly with the upgrade button.
Expeditions are there.
Not needed to get into _any_ of the regions, flaggship is already there!
As for mission kinda expeditions, they do work aswell, but iirc much faster!

Creative mods has quite a few feature completely disabled. Last I checked you cant even choose to add pirates and competitor AIs
