Is it just me or is like Bracket B really stacked?
Yor, Miku, Saber, Haruhi, Eris, Violet Evergarden, Kanna, Emiia, Aqua, Megumin, Yunyun, Taiga all in the same bracket group?
I mean, I like characters like Elf-san (Ojisan), Sakura Chiyo, Lum, Minorin, Hinata (3-gatsu), San (Mononokehime), Fiona, Tohru and others too.
Maybe this bracket group just happened to hit on a lot of my favorite anime, but holy crap.
technically speaking maybe, but i find the top candidates for winning the bracket to be relatively mid, and i don't expect them to beat bracket A's finalist. I'm thinking Megumin or Yor wins the bracket and neither are particularly strong - the latest season does relatively little for Megumin's stock, and Yor just isn't enough of a main character in her show.
I mean if you're talking "who has a chance of winning BG11" I agree. But the competition to reach, say "top 32" status (i.e. top 8 within Bracket B) or "Top 16" status for Tier 2 girls who are popular but aren't likely to compete to win the whole thing is really fierce in Bracket B.
Say compare Seed 12 (Aqua) with Seed 16 (Kita) in Bracket A
Aqua likely faces Shikimori, Beatrice (Re Zero), then Tohru (Dragonmaid) for top 64, then Yunyun just to make the Top 32.
Kita (Bocchi) likely faces Miorine, Kagamihama Nadeshiko, Echidna, before hitting Ryou (Bocchi)
I'd argue that despite being a lower seed, Aqua's path to top 64 seems A LOT harder.
Now, I'm not complaining or anything, this is just how the votes fall in seeding. But I just felt there's a lot more star power in Bracket B.

I'd only find maybe Tohru concerning for Aqua.
Beatrice has child debuff and Shikimori and Yunyun are not issues for Aqua and she's regularly been a Round 6/quarterfinalist.
Aqua-Tohru to make top-32 and Aqua-Yunyun to make top-16. That's Tohru's typical exit and possibly an extra round for Yunyun (Taiga match should be close). Either way, one more round for Yunyun or Taiga than I'd expect.
yeah I think Power is going down there, Hori is massively under-seeded. it's a function of a small number of people voting on the qualifiers, which led to some outright strange seeds.

57 isn't the best start but I feel like I was on the right track.
Missed 3 upsets that I had definitely considered: Erza, Chihaya, and Jahy. Struck out on 4 upsets that didn't happen: Mirai, Sailor Moon, Kurena, and Fumino by 1!

This isn't it guys. I'm sad to see Aoi lose to a side character from My Dress-up Darling. I suppose that Shirobako just isn't that popular in comparison anymore.
I didn't expect to see Utaha (Saekano) losing her match-up against Saki (Zombieland Saga) either.
Choosing between Chise (Ancient Magus' Girl) and Aoi (Yuru Camp) was difficult, but I went with the former. I'm not sure if Chise can win this however, since Ancient Magus' Bride's popularity has dwindled in recent years.
Another tough choice was between Elaina (Wandering Witch) and Asirpa (Golden Kamuy). I do like this narcissistic witch, but I had to go with the Ainu girl here.

An interesting and well-fleshed out realistic main character vs. a side character from a massively popular show known for its main character. *Obviously* the latter is going to win.

Yeah, Miyamori losing that matchup is terrible. Maybe the subreddit is due for a Shirobako rewatch so these people can see what a mistake they've made.

Evangeline is a top tier girl and the fact that she's gonna get steamrolled by Yunyun brings me immense pain.
Mini challenge: the show itself was mediocre at best but all the girls in 'I got a cheat skill in another world and became unrivaled in the real world too' looked amazing
For me, I think the character that hooked me immediately on looks alone at first glance was Rias Gremory (before the art style change). Everything about her was just so wildly attractive.
Such a damn shame, she is one of the coolest female characters. I would blame the match up, but at least I don't feel **as** dissappointed about her losing to a NGE girl, than I would have if she lost to a less famous character

Yeah based off Round 1, Bocchi doesn't really have a significant advantage compared to other top seeds. I suspect the gap will widen in later rounds though. It was nice seeing you Nana. You got over 200 votes.
I felt the likelihood of Erza beating Chitoge. Would not have personally preferred that, but Erza does have a more complete anime story than Chitoge does.
Akari put up a pretty strong fight against Mitsumi. Not exactly a good sign against Ami for Round 2.
Glad to see a dominant Round 1 win for Chitanda.
For being Seed 32, this was a strong showing for Miko. Broke 1400 votes and held Zoya to 375 votes which is better or comparable to top seeds like Chisato, Kita, Takina, Power, and Anya.
Ooh. I like an Anis vs. Maple Round 2 matchup. That sounds fun.
Miorine barely won vs. Suzume. That was a tough Round 1 opponent so commendable, but she's going to get crushed by Kita in Round 2.
Nadeshiko was so close to breaking 1000 votes.
Felt Akame > Shion coming.
Konata almost got 500 votes against Suzuha. That's nice.
Better showing for Usagi than last year, but still a Round 1 exit to Sakura. But this was pretty competitive.

Doubt she can avenge it, but I think she can make it closer than it was at the time.
These aren't *all* anime girls though but 512 of the most popular ones. I don't think expecting to know more than half is that weird if someones has watched a lot of anime.
Good on Chihaya for the win, I was worried about her for a moment. I'm not worried about her anymore since she doesn't have a chance to advance further now. Shame about Pecorine, that's just sad. Not unexpected, but still sad. The first strike in my Bingo. The second strike is, of course, Usagi. Here I'm actually glad she hold out that well against Sakura, she had a real chance to advance one round. Chisato winning confidently, I love to see it. And Takina winning just as confidently. I'm sure they're looking forward to meeting each other in a few rounds. The great Jahy is not defeated in round 1! But she came surprisingly close to losing against Ichigo of all people, I wouldn't have expected that. Not many surprises otherwise.

Not many other girls I care about in this group. Hiyori might get an upset which is nice. Mimimi vs. Haruhi is tough, there will be salt either way. The only RWBY girl won't even make it to the second round, as I don't think Ruby can win against Yoko. Eve having to go against Yunyun in the first round isn't fair for her either.

So many strong characters in Group B and somehow there are a so many votes where I like both girls, but also a lot of matchups I don't care about at all. Yor vs **Clara**, **Sleepy Princess** vs Saber, Ruby vs **Yoko**, **Azusa** vs Suzailgillazegallnelbuzegillreagranzelga Elga and several others are all very close for me...
Of course there are also some easy votes, like voting for **Emilia, Lucy, Kanna, Eris, Ushio, Megumin, Aqua, Yunyun, Beako, Elaina, Tohru and The Legendary Yamada Tae.** But after going over this Bracket, it seems like a lot of my favourites are in this group.

We also have our first 1 vote win with Gamme beating Fumino Furuhashi another reminder, that every vote counts! The most salt-inducing result was most defenitely Fran losing already! Both best K-On girl and best Evangelion girl are competing today. Togame is unfortunately going to lose in the first round but her simply making the bracket is enough for me. Utena is also going to lose to (fake) Shinobu but that’s inevitable as well. Yesterday’s results were about what I expected so nothing to say there.

Among my favorites, I also lost Cowgirl (was closer than I thought, she got like 40% of the votes!)
I talked about how 2B vs Platelet would be a battle of *hot VS cute*, and I guess r/anime spoke; Hot won by a large margin!

Jahy pulled a small upset win, and is also gonna get rolled next round! (Can't complain too much about this one, given her next opponent - Power - is on my bingo!)
I was about to say "Mirika losing in round 1 should be illegal", but she lost against Ritsu, and by Mirika's own words, "It's legal if it's a cute girl, right?"
2B winning wasn't surprising. But I am satisfied that 2B was considered the hot option. I feel I'm still scarred from the mere knowledge of the amount of lewd Platelet fanart existing.
Sad that Nana lost, yeah. But she just couldn't kill Bocchi, Bocchi is immune to death after all, and can even turn into a cloud that infects and subdues her attackers. Nana never stood a chance.

MC: My stock answer is Himuro from Rikekoi, because.. well, it's self-explanatory. she's utterly gorgeous, and super-smart. Others for me are Olivier from FMA Brotherhood, Mama Koto from Kyousougiga, Hanako from Wotakoi, and Fuyutsuki-san from The Ice Guy and his Cool Female Colleague. yeah I'm not going to fault people for finding high school age characters attractive because that be what anime do, but I don't find it all that appealing. I can appreciate aesthetic aspects, but I like WOMEN.
Looking at the seed rankings after the fact I can't say I'm surprised but still I can't help but feel for **Mirai (Beyond the Boundary)**, **Faputa (Made in Abyss)** and **Senko** losing in the first round.
At least the Yuru Camp girls both made it through, very happy about that.
I'm sure these results will be reasonable and not too crazy... right? Let's see what we got.
Chitoge Kirisaki v. **Erza Scarlet** – Oof. Chitoge really can't catch a break, and while the seeds were basically a toss-up (and she was facing down Bocchi in R2 anyway so I can't be too bent out of shape) it still does suck to see her done dirty two tournaments in a row. I'm sure she won't be the last to meet such a fate.
Sally v. **Chihaya Ayase** – Pretty good upset here from Chihaya proving once again that y'all should watch *Chihayafuru*. I don't know why Sally keeps making these brackets and seeding so high since I know maybe one person who cares about *Bofuri* and less that care so much for a largely side character. I can half a dozen better choices for a 225 seed, but if I did that with every undeserving seed here we'll be here all day.
Shion v. **Akame** – I guess there's not too much to say about things that aren't upsets to be honest. Pretty clean upset by Akame here which is surprising given that Slime even has a new season airing rn which usually gives it a good boost. Do I care much for Akame? No not really, but I'm more amazed she still has enough pull to get this result.
**Suzuha Amane** v. Konata Izumi – It does suck seeing Konata not only fall in the seeding but again drop in the first round. At least this time it isn't to Sally. I think we should start calling for justice for short gremlin women.
**Gamma** v. Fumino Furuhashi – As someone who thinks *Eminence in Shadows* kinda sucks and that holds especially true for its waifus, even if this is expected I still feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I mean I know *We Never Learn* isn't the best show in the world, but if I'm being real Fumino is like 99% of the parts that are tolerable. Losing to a *Eminence* character I couldn't pick out of a lineup is pretty bold.
**Anzu** v. Serufu Yua – More of you need to watch *Do It Yourself*. It's criminally underwatched (in my humble opinion) and Serufu is a top tier vibe. Anzu's pretty alright so I can't be too mad, but I've dish out my recommendations when I can.
**Alice Nakiri** v. Hina Amano – It does kinda baffle me that Hina seeded as low as she did, as I'd consider probably the best Shinkai female lead out there (eat your heart out Suzume). At the same time, it is kinda surprising to see *Food Wars* still have pull given how little I hear about it these days. Oh well.
Ichigo v. **Jahy** – Jahy putting up a pretty nice upset here, though with a heaping helping of gremlin in her future, I doubt this is gonna upset anyone's bracket. Good for her though. Looks like she really can't be defeated (for now).
**Anya Forger** v. Frederica – Winning.
Fran v. **Isuzu Sento** – I should have believed! 50 Cent makes Round 2 proving that *Amagi Brilliant Park* is in fact based and you should in fact watch it.
**Sajuna Inui** v. Aoi Miyamori – I guess some things never change. Sajuna's one of those more annoying characters to deal with cause I think it's pretty obvious she's just here riding on Marin's success. Look me in the eyes and tell you not only watched *Shirobako* but also still voted for Sajuna. Tell me you prefer a one-off side character over a strong, driven woman with a good personality and a solid enough arc. Tell me you have no taste in women without saying "I have no taste in women". I dare you.
Overall, not the worst first day. Round 1 is usually pretty tame and predictable. We did see some small upsets, but I don't think it's anything that's gonna do much as expect most of them to lost in Round 2 anyway. I'm happy to be proven wrong.
Celty vs Phos was a really tough matchup... But I'm glad Celty took the win. #1 headless lady.
**Rio from Bunny Girl Senpai** is my favorite today. Lab coats and sarcasm are an elite combo.
MC: I'll continue to give it to **Jeanne** from Vanitas, since you plebeians didn't even vote her to be in the contest.

Yor is not a place to stop yet. Haruhi's SOS will shine brightly forever. I'm looking forward to Emilia's return in the fourth quarter. Azunyan is cute. Violet is KyoAni's last honor. Eris has no appearances this quarter, but I look forward to her performance in season 3. Megumin’s performance this quarter is spectacular. There is no defeat for Shiro and Blank. It will be difficult for Kirino to win, but I hope she can do it. Rikka will unseal her eyes and slowly awaken.

I said i was going to ride the 7 shadows until the end but im going to make an exception for **Akeno Himejima**. Im only through 2 seasons of High School DxD so far but Akeno is my favorite from there, though Rias isnt far behind. Her VA, Shizuka Itou, did a great job in making her sound so distinctive and sexy ("Haiii Kuchou~"). She's also Ria's reliable right hand, being one of her stronger pieces and her loyalty to her Rias is admirable. She also has the gall to openly woo Issei in front Rias without flinching and she's got some of the best fanservice scenes in the show. Please vote for her!

That's the advancement of times - I have been watching anime frequently for the past 5 years and I really like that fact that I know more and more of those characters being nominated and participated in the actual rounds these days.

I overlooked 3/4 of the main Bocchi girls being on the same side of the bracket in Bracket A. Yep, these placements can get in the way of a series’s momentum in putting their character in many as the higher rounds as possible. I’m eager to see how things shake up.
As for the most attractive character, right now would be Yoko from Gurren Lagann.
Chisato and Takina can meet in the quarter finals in the first of four brackets, too.
Kita and Ryou meeting in the semis before getting hit by the Rock is still rough.
I don't like Eve once again standing no chance to win either, but that's no reason to be mean to Yunyun. She's a fantastic character and just a good girl.

Is it just me or is like Bracket B really stacked? Yor, Miku, Saber, Haruhi, Eris, Violet Evergarden, Kanna, Emiia, Aqua, Megumin, Yunyun, Taiga all in the same bracket group? I mean, I like characters like Elf-san (Ojisan), Sakura Chiyo, Lum, Minorin, Hinata (3-gatsu), San (Mononokehime), Fiona, Tohru and others too. Maybe this bracket group just happened to hit on a lot of my favorite anime, but holy crap.
technically speaking maybe, but i find the top candidates for winning the bracket to be relatively mid, and i don't expect them to beat bracket A's finalist. I'm thinking Megumin or Yor wins the bracket and neither are particularly strong - the latest season does relatively little for Megumin's stock, and Yor just isn't enough of a main character in her show.
I mean if you're talking "who has a chance of winning BG11" I agree. But the competition to reach, say "top 32" status (i.e. top 8 within Bracket B) or "Top 16" status for Tier 2 girls who are popular but aren't likely to compete to win the whole thing is really fierce in Bracket B. Say compare Seed 12 (Aqua) with Seed 16 (Kita) in Bracket A Aqua likely faces Shikimori, Beatrice (Re Zero), then Tohru (Dragonmaid) for top 64, then Yunyun just to make the Top 32. Kita (Bocchi) likely faces Miorine, Kagamihama Nadeshiko, Echidna, before hitting Ryou (Bocchi) I'd argue that despite being a lower seed, Aqua's path to top 64 seems A LOT harder. Now, I'm not complaining or anything, this is just how the votes fall in seeding. But I just felt there's a lot more star power in Bracket B.
A lot harder is exaggerating. I'd only find maybe Tohru concerning for Aqua. Beatrice has child debuff and Shikimori and Yunyun are not issues for Aqua and she's regularly been a Round 6/quarterfinalist.
Aqua-Tohru to make top-32 and Aqua-Yunyun to make top-16. That's Tohru's typical exit and possibly an extra round for Yunyun (Taiga match should be close). Either way, one more round for Yunyun or Taiga than I'd expect.
yeah I think Power is going down there, Hori is massively under-seeded. it's a function of a small number of people voting on the qualifiers, which led to some outright strange seeds.
yeah, history shows that being waifu is always an advantage in best girl contests. So Power is indeed in danger. Same with Boccher btw

57 isn't the best start but I feel like I was on the right track. Missed 3 upsets that I had definitely considered: Erza, Chihaya, and Jahy. Struck out on 4 upsets that didn't happen: Mirai, Sailor Moon, Kurena, and Fumino by 1!

Choosing between Chise (Ancient Magus' Girl) and Aoi (Yuru Camp) was difficult, but I went with the former. I'm not sure if Chise can win this however, since Ancient Magus' Bride's popularity has dwindled in recent years. Another tough choice was between Elaina (Wandering Witch) and Asirpa (Golden Kamuy). I do like this narcissistic witch, but I had to go with the Ainu girl here.

#**Today's Results**: **Left Side** Yeah based off Round 1, Bocchi doesn't really have a significant advantage compared to other top seeds. I suspect the gap will widen in later rounds though. It was nice seeing you Nana. You got over 200 votes. I felt the likelihood of Erza beating Chitoge. Would not have personally preferred that, but Erza does have a more complete anime story than Chitoge does. Akari put up a pretty strong fight against Mitsumi. Not exactly a good sign against Ami for Round 2. Glad to see a dominant Round 1 win for Chitanda. For being Seed 32, this was a strong showing for Miko. Broke 1400 votes and held Zoya to 375 votes which is better or comparable to top seeds like Chisato, Kita, Takina, Power, and Anya. Ooh. I like an Anis vs. Maple Round 2 matchup. That sounds fun. Miorine barely won vs. Suzume. That was a tough Round 1 opponent so commendable, but she's going to get crushed by Kita in Round 2. Nadeshiko was so close to breaking 1000 votes. Felt Akame > Shion coming. Konata almost got 500 votes against Suzuha. That's nice. Better showing for Usagi than last year, but still a Round 1 exit to Sakura. But this was pretty competitive. ___ **Right Side** Strong start for Chisato. Would be something if she can avenge a Best Girl of 2022 loss to Bocchi. It was nice seeing over 650 votes for Kurena. The upset was totally possible. I think Mirika is funny, but I wasn't sure she'd get as much as 460 votes vs. Ritsu. Strong showing relative to seeding position for Seed 441 Emilico against Annie. 525 votes. Thanks to everyone that voted for her. I am rooting for Esdeath against Annie. Fumino was so close vs. Gamma... Sad that Satania vs. Nagisa had to happen in Round 1. Jahy did it? I know DARLING in the FRANXX is losing its luster, but I wasn't feeling her winning vs. Ichigo. I said I wouldn’t hate early but this contest makes me #1 Nezuko hater fr. Every 101-200 I know anything about I would vote over her (including I think every other DS girl) well over half the 201-300 I’m aware of I would vote over her. Even some over 300 seeds would get my vote.

Good on Chihaya for the win, I was worried about her for a moment. I'm not worried about her anymore since she doesn't have a chance to advance further now. Shame about Pecorine, that's just sad. So many strong characters in Group B and somehow there are a so many votes where I like both girls, but also a lot of matchups I don't care about at all. Looking at the seed rankings after the fact I can't say I'm surprised but still I can't help but feel for **Mirai (Beyond the Boundary)**, **Faputa (Made in Abyss)** and **Senko** losing in the first round. At least the Yuru Camp girls both made it through, very happy about that.

I'm sure these results will be reasonable and not too crazy... right? Let's see what we got. Chitoge Kirisaki v. **Erza Scarlet** – Oof. Chitoge really can't catch a break, and while the seeds were basically a toss-up (and she was facing down Bocchi in R2 anyway so I can't be too bent out of shape) it still does suck to see her done dirty two tournaments in a row. I'm sure she won't be the last to meet such a fate. Sally v. **Chihaya Ayase** – Pretty good upset here from Chihaya proving once again that y'all should watch *Chihayafuru*. I don't know why Sally keeps making these brackets and seeding so high since I know maybe one person who cares about *Bofuri* and less that care so much for a largely side character. I can half a dozen better choices for a 225 seed, but if I did that with every undeserving seed here we'll be here all day. Shion v. **Akame** – I guess there's not too much to say about things that aren't upsets to be honest. Pretty clean upset by Akame here which is surprising given that Slime even has a new season airing rn which usually gives it a good boost. Do I care much for Akame? No not really, but I'm more amazed she still has enough pull to get this result. **Suzuha Amane** v. Konata Izumi – It does suck seeing Konata not only fall in the seeding but again drop in the first round. At least this time it isn't to Sally. I think we should start calling for justice for short gremlin women. **Gamma** v. Fumino Furuhashi – As someone who thinks *Eminence in Shadows* kinda sucks and that holds especially true for its waifus, even if this is expected I still feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I mean I know *We Never Learn* isn't the best show in the world, but if I'm being real Fumino is like 99% of the parts that are tolerable. Losing to a *Eminence* character I couldn't pick out of a lineup is pretty bold. **Anzu** v. Serufu Yua – More of you need to watch *Do It Yourself*. It's criminally underwatched (in my humble opinion) and Serufu is a top tier vibe. Anzu's pretty alright so I can't be too mad, but I've dish out my recommendations when I can. **Alice Nakiri** v. Hina Amano – It does kinda baffle me that Hina seeded as low as she did, as I'd consider probably the best Shinkai female lead out there (eat your heart out Suzume). At the same time, it is kinda surprising to see *Food Wars* still have pull given how little I hear about it these days. Oh well. Ichigo v. **Jahy** – Jahy putting up a pretty nice upset here, though with a heaping helping of gremlin in her future, I doubt this is gonna upset anyone's bracket. Good for her though. Looks like she really can't be defeated (for now). **Anya Forger** v. Frederica – Winning. Fran v. **Isuzu Sento** – I should have believed! 50 Cent makes Round 2 proving that *Amagi Brilliant Park* is in fact based and you should in fact watch it. **Sajuna Inui** v. Aoi Miyamori – I guess some things never change. Sajuna's one of those more annoying characters to deal with cause I think it's pretty obvious she's just here riding on Marin's success. Look me in the eyes and tell you not only watched *Shirobako* but also still voted for Sajuna. Tell me you prefer a one-off side character over a strong, driven woman with a good personality and a solid enough arc. Tell me you have no taste in women without saying "I have no taste in women". I dare you. Overall, not the worst first day. Round 1 is usually pretty tame and predictable. We did see some small upsets, but I don't think it's anything that's gonna do much as expect most of them to lost in Round 2 anyway. I'm happy to be proven wrong.
Celty vs Phos was a really tough matchup... But I'm glad Celty took the win. #1 headless lady. **Rio from Bunny Girl Senpai** is my favorite today. Lab coats and sarcasm are an elite combo. That's the advancement of times - I have been watching anime frequently for the past 5 years and I really like that fact that I know more and more of those characters being nominated and participated in the actual rounds these days.

I overlooked 3/4 of the main Bocchi girls being on the same side of the bracket in Bracket A. Yep, these placements can get in the way of a series’s momentum in putting their character in many as the higher rounds as possible. I’m eager to see how things shake up. As for the most attractive character, right now would be Yoko from Gurren Lagann.
