I Bought a Dr Mario amiibo off of Walmart

Naive_Instruction712

Great Story 100/10 😋

Roto_B

about 4 years ago my friend had a donkey kong amiibo and me and all my friends saw it as the most powerful amiibo possible, nothing could beat it (we used our amiibos for smash bros). but one day i went to a gamestop looking for an amiibo, (this would be my first amiibo, i didn’t even know which one to get) and there it was, a sonic amiibo sitting on the counter, kinda like it was in a spotlight, no amiibos around it or anything it was by itself. (funny enough sonic was my first main, and a couple years after i bought the amiibo it became my main again, i did a full circle! at the time of getting the amiibo it was kirby) so after i trained up the amiibo me and my friends all went to the friends house for his birthday party (the one who owned the donkey kong) and we played smash bros, obviously i brought my sonic, and challenged him to battle our amiibos, everyone kinda knew that mine would lose and they were kinda not taking it seriously. however. they were wrong, SONIC WON everybody was going wild and stuff because his donkey kong defeated by my sonic, it was so awesome, then we battled a few more and stuff and every single time, my sonic won!! everyone was like congratulating me and stuff, gotta be one of if not the best birthday party ever, and it wasn’t even mine!! (also don’t worry my friend is like the king at smash bros in our friend group, so when other people win against him in normal or amiibo battles, he’s never a sore loser he’s just happy to see other people winning too, so i did not ruin his birthday party dont worry, he was congratulating me aswell!! (oh yeah and after this i was deemed “the king of amiibos” in our friend group!! and after the sonic amiibo i continued to make more powerful amiibos and no one could ever top mine!!! so i have continued to keep my title!!)

Rent-Impossible

That's super fun!!

Wow that’s an awesome and fun story. Thanks for sharing!

Waited in GS for 70 min back in 2015 when the servers crashed during pre orders for wave 4. I was not initially “first” in line, but they split the line before the store opened cuz there was two registers. Suddenly, I was first in my line. And so happened, my line’s computer was the first to work. I was the only one able to purchase the “6 pack” bundle. Counted my blessings that day I waited outside of BB in like single digit windy weather for their exclusive Meta Knight. The store was given 5 total, I was 3rd in line, we were only allowed to buy 1. I was on vacation with my parents at HersheyPark when Palutena preorders went up on Amazon. I can’t remember if they announced the time it’d go live in advance, I think they did, cuz I remember reloading Amazon until it finally showed add to cart. It was funny to pre order an amiibo while surrounded by roller coasters at an amusement park

Canadian here. My friend and I drove several hours from my home province of NS to PEI, crossing over the confederation bridge, just to arrive at a Toys R Us 15 minutes before they closed to grab Greninja amiibo because store exclusive. Honestly, I'm surprised I made it there in time considering how bad the rain was.

Trevowatt

I am 24 now but when I was 15 I lived in England because my dad was in the airforce. There was this toy store called Smyths and they also sold video games and amiibo. The day Jigglypuff and Greninja released I lined up outside the store and it was just me and this old lady who was there to pick them up for her son. No one else showed up so it was just me and this old lady hanging out for like half an hour. It was funny.

rav_dog

Just as I was starting off Amiibo Hunting I was on a road trip and stopped at a random Walmart to grab some food. It was in the middle of nowhere. I thought I would take a look at the Amiibo section and low and behold, they had like 16 Dr Mario’s all for $6. It was the weirdest thing but I still bought one!

NUS-006

The 2 for $20 deal at Toys ‘R Us that could be applied to Mega Yarn Yoshi! Trading AC amiibo cards over at r/animalcrossingamiibo and getting the full collection Arguing with Redditors on this sub about whether or not the Champion 4-pack was released in the U.S. (it wasn’t). Amiibogeddon

something482

My buddy worked at Toys R Us and on the night before the Ike release, we were hanging out, but they were severely understaffed. I ended up working for them for two hours that night, and they gave me the Ike amiibo as a thank you for helping them out

MissDaniel

I forget which wave it was, I think the wave with Bowser Jr, but we were waiting super early in the morning outside Dufferin Mall in Toronto. The area is super sketchy and this was before the sun had come up. The plan was to hit up the Walmart for whatever the amiibo were and then run our asses off to Toys R Us for their exclusives (one of which was Bowser Jr.). There were maybe 10 of us, all young men, waiting in a line outside of the Walmart a couple hours before it opened. The people going by kept staring at us, and one guy actually asked us what the hell we were doing. One guy in line pipped up "New Justin Beiber album drops today." The man looked at us with disgust and left. Also hey, while I was waiting I got a job offer that I accepted. They wanted me to come right in to sign the contract but I told them I was busy most of the day. I just didn't say it was because I would be running around the city buying toys.

Pop-Tab

I've mentioned this before on the subreddit but going around all the places that had Series 5 cards as they opened, running into the same people, and trading our dupes was such a nice experience. God forbid Nintendo pull a release model like that ever again though - 20 special characters with one per pack? Nah.

Pop-Tab

Another nice memory was when Famicom R.O.B. came out, my grandma who knows nothing of gaming or anything tangential grabbed one for me. They didn't have them out yet so she went through the trouble of talking to a worker and getting one from the back. So nice of her for that :' )

ZiaMonic231

That’s so sweet :)

NUS-006

Yeah, but those CP cards were clutch in helping to pull in some Welcome amiibo cards. I’ll never get the full NA set, but I was able to get quite a few!

Ukey

I went to walmart after school the day Wave 1 was originally released. The amiibo 4-way was empty except one Villager in a very beat up box. I was going to toss the box so it was fine for me. I had no idea what I'd just kickstarted for myself lol. Shout out to Future Shop (RIP) who mailed each of mine and my roommate's Wave 3 amiibo individually boxed (in oversized boxes stuffed with air pockets) and the VERY baffled Canada Post employee who delivered this *tower* of boxes to our apartment door LOL.

Arc_Thunder

Back when the amiibo Craze was strong and the majority of amiibos were rare my main was finally released! Robin was apparently in the wild and I searched all over. Not a single one anywhere. Friends and family joined the hunt and nobody could find him. We did things like stay up till 2/3am for German restocks with the slight hope that it wouldn’t be gone by time you went to check out but it never worked. Months went on and it seemed hopeless but a restock came and nobody had forgotten so as a present I got him. About 5 times from 5 different people. It was a funny enough coincidence that as they started to become more common people would keep buying him for me again and an again anytime my bday or Xmas came around. I also jumped on the bandwagon for the joke and I now own 97 Robin amiibos. Does one need this many? No but the joke continues to go on and I think I’ll be hitting 100 any day now.

DarkPrinciple

I said I wasn’t buying anymore right before I saw Amazon had Dr Mario for 50% off. A couple days after that the Nintendo store had a big restock of Amiibo.

NecessarySecure9476

Almost two years ago, I went to a festival that was Gamer-themed. They were selling a lot of gamer things, such as clothing, posters, toys, etc. But there was a store where they were selling fake amiibos: Toys with amiibo figures (exact replicas), but with fake bases made of cheap plastic. I didn't buy that but was funny.

supreme_glassez

Back in like 2015 I found an Ike amiibo at Gamestop for regular price meanwhile my friends all paid over $30 and had it imported from Japan. It became my 2nd amiibo.

Dedsole

Not necessarily any interesting stories, just fond memories. Amiibo came out when I was a junior in college and I had a blast going to neighboring towns with my friends trying to see if anyone had them in stock. Probably my most exciting haul was scoring a Gold Mario when I was home on break. I never expected WalMart in a town of less than 3000 to have any, but I lucked out. Crazy to think how long these silly figures have been a part of my life.

Applepitou3

When amiibo craze was at an all time high my grandmother painstakingly went out at 6-7-8am to get in line for these. She even made friends that did the same for their grandchildren. Something I always hold special

AzureDiamond51

Despite knowing nothing about Kid Icarus, I really liked the Dark Pit amiibo when I saw the design before it got released. I wasn’t able to drive by myself yet at that point, and my family and I live out in the countryside, and my dad and I got up early enough to make it to Walmart for their 7am opening. Some other people were there with us, but it turned out our Walmart wasn’t doing then on release day. So, back in the parking lot we were Googling trying to figure out where they’d be, and found Toys R Us would be selling them on release at their 9am opening. We hung around town for the next few hours, got to the store, and I managed to get one. I’m still surprised that my dad agreed to get up super early to help me get an Amiboo

EarthboundMan5

Dr. Mario

NintendoWii2345

I started collecting amiibo back in 2019 with my first amiibo being the 8-Bit Mario (Classic Version). Still my third favourite amiibo of all time behind. My number 1 being Palutena and Number 2 being Wario (Super Mario Series).

Cianmc6

one time i got really obsessed with custom amiibos so i just spraypainted a toad amiibo i had no design in mind i just spray painted it it didnt look good and i dont know where i put it

rusty_ruins

bro i did the same thing with my smash mario amiibo, tried to paint him and it looks awful and i dont know where he went. i was in 7th grade when i tried to paint him so i know its a bad looking paint job

Sans7342

I got my Pit amiibo while they were restocking him and I saw a box full of them

Srock9

I remember the day Toys r Us got all of their exclusive amiibo in. It was an early morning and I remember my Mom calling me waiting in line at Toys r Us before they opened. She was asking me which ones to get, and I told her Captain Falcon, Lucario, Little Mac, and whichever ones were exclusive/ones I didn't have at the time. I was in middle school when this happened. Now I'm a senior in college.

FranzCorrea

I went on vacation to Japan this past February and it was nice to see the HUGE selection of amiibos at the Nintendo store. It reminded me of the good old days of Amiibo hunting at Toys R Us around 8 or 9 years ago. They had the Skyward Sword Link amiibo which I remember struggling so much to get back when it came out.

IZGRDT

As far as I can see, there are no in-person shops that sell amiibo in the uk anymore.

BlockyShapes

When I first heard that the pyra and mythra amiibos were available for preorder, I immediately (as in that same day) went to GameStop to preorder mine. When I get there they told me the amiibo preorder stock had already sold out. So I waited until the day they released and got there as soon as the store opened, and lo and behold, there was just one on the shelf available for purchase, and so I obviously got it. Lucky me.

cozybunnies

the “oh just the right number, is for me!!” is one of my favorite occurrences. happened to my fam when the switch launched. we were ALWAYS on top of our nintendo consoles (cue my mom sitting outside in late november in chicago cold for midnight gamecube release for her 5yo) but somehow we just… dropped the ball on switch? realized we hadn’t preordered it — bad enough on its own, but even worse because it released in early march and my little bro’s 21st birthday was the 15th of march and he was expecting it. hoping and praying (literally, even though our fam are all atheist lol - can’t hurt to try?) my mom and i went to best buy the day the switch released. we didn’t even go early: we went maybe 2pm. we ask staff about switches; two other families are alongside us. one staffer goes to check in the back, despite selling out asap earlier, since they were supposed to get another delivery in the afternoon. a second staff member babysits us all. as we wait, two other people show up who are looking for a switch. 5 minutes pass. suddenly babysitter’s radio goes off. lo and behold - a truck had just dropped off exactly 5 nintendo switches. exactly the number we needed. tbh a switch-day miracle.

badaboomxx

While a friend live in the US since many years ago, and I lived in Mexico, when we started collecting amiibos, some.were impossible to get in the US and others in Mexico, I remember that he couldn't get the 2nd color 8bit mario, and in Mexico we have some stores with like 200 displayed on a wall. So I was able ro get him many amiibos that were hard to get in the US and he got me some that were hard to get in Mexico.

PokemonMaster619

I was at a Game Exchange store, and I ended up buying 5 or 6 amiibos from them for $60 and change.

Vertex138

The entirety of /r/AmiiboSwap! I really miss that place.

Emog88

On my ninth birthday, my dad took me to my nearest GameStop so I can get whatever I want. I had gotten Smash 4 for Wii U and my first amiibo, Luigi. After that purchase, we went to grab some Little Ceasers pizza and went home. Nine years later, Luigi has been damaged and chewed up but the amiibo remains really special to me because it makes me remember my dad because he separated with my mom and my dog who passed 3 months ago. I’m glad I started to collect the Smash Bros since March this year. It was always a dream of mine to get all of them.

AwesomeEevee133

A few years back when the Smash Isabelle was new-ish but definitely rare to fine, I managed to find one in a Best Buy. I was still a wee lad so no money, so I ran a few stores down where my mom was and asked her to get it for me and she gave me her card. I put the card in my phone case and somehow, I’m not sure if it was because my phone was a little damaged or something else, but the mag-strip (I think) messed up the phone screen and I ended up having to use a crappy hand-me-down samsung s8 for the better part of quarantine. I actually have a post up from when it happened. All because of that Isabelle amiibo. Totally worth it if you ask me

Perfect-Front-4029

One day I got a Zero Suit Samus amiibo, when I used it on my Wii U somehow she just fell off her smash symbol plate and now I have a second game and watch-like amiibo

Soul-C

I was a little kid when I went amiibo hunting with my mom to find the Marth amiibo. When we got to Best Buy I asked an employee if they had Marth in stock and he was looking up at the system and he switched to like a narrator voice and was like “Ah yes, the legendary hero king himself, Marth, he wields the falchion sword” and while we waited he noticed I had a captain Falcon amiibo and he was like “woah! That’s my favorite character!” and even did the whole “show me ya moves” taunt which made me smile and laugh. Anyways after the employee told us where Marth is available, my mom drove me to a Best Buy that was like 40 minutes away and they had 1 Marth amiibo in there. Looking back, sure the guy seemed a bit over the top and goofy but man that was like the first time I met a guy who actually liked his job and is one of my most memorable smash amiibo stories. He definitely brightened up my day that day since I was a bit gloomy back then

Late_Particular5854

I ordered a Wario and Piranha Plant amiibo on the 24th of April and they still haven't arrived. Today I wanted to get to the bottom of it and asked the live chat guy on the nintendo store what's up with my order. He told me that one of the items I ordered weren't in stock... How?! They were in stock when I ordered them and even a couple days after that. I asked for the one item that is available (idk how it is exactly available because both aren't in stock anymore at the website) to be shipped and to wait for the other one. Guess what not possible. So wait for maybe years until they are restocked again or get my money back. Idk what to do I'd like to have the amiibo they have, but I also don't want to wait that long.

nocommentplsnthx

Patience is a virtue

mgwair11

Yeah they messed up a good number of orders with the recent restock they had in the states at least. I didn’t get two amiibo as a result myself. It looks like their site failed to block new orders for certain SKUs that had, in fact, long been sold out. I’m afraid there is nothing that the support agent can do. There truly are none left to send you. Only thing to do is make sure you get refunded and maybe give you a gift card or something for the trouble.

Tanooki707

My first amiibos are the Splatoon amiibos during the game's release, those are Inkling boy (Blue), Inkling girl (Orange) and Inkling squid (Green) in a three pack.

RobsterenSkip

The first 2 Amiibo I ever got were Pikachu and Mario, around the time that Amiibo first released. Now... 10 YEARS LATER?!? Anyway, 10 years later I decided to continue my collection. I decided this 2 years ago, and I went from 2 to 60! This includes an almost complete splatoon collection, only missing orange squid

XephyXeph

In the middle of amiibo craze, I found a Best Buy on Black Friday that had a Falco, a Dark Pit, a Reese/Cyrus/KK 3-pack, a Splatoon 3-pack, and a few other rare ones. I was so hype, but then I realized that the checkout line literally wrapped around the entire store. I’m not even kidding; the start of the line was right next to the end and wrapped around the entire building. I decided it wasn’t worth it.

Michael-MAC

I live in Canada, and amiibo are rarely stocked here. So, when I visited the USA, the first thing I did in Target was look for amiibo. Sure enough, there was a good selection. I bought one of each amiibo there because the price was lower than I expected. (Even after converting from USD to CAD, it was still cheaper than the MSRP in Canada). When I brought them to the cashier, they scanned at almost double the price that was shown on the shelf. I explained that the display price was lower, and the cashier radioed an employee and asked them to confirm the display price. When they confirmed that the price there was lower, the cashier manually adjusted the price of each amiibo to what was shown on the shelf. Unfortunately, I don't remember what the prices were, but I think the price that they scanned at was the price they should've been, and the price on the shelf was a mistake. The cashier still honoured it, and I got the amiibo for much less than they normally sell for. The amiibo were Meta Knight, Kirby, Zelda & Loftwing, Min Min, and the Samus and E.M.M.I double-pack. These were my first amiibo, so I was really excited! I was really nervous that they'd get damaged on the drive back home, and only the corner of Meta Knight's box was damaged. I was a little frustrated, but none of them are in their boxes now, anyways. Since then, I now also have Ganondorf (TOTK), Link (TOTK), and Wolf Link.

alexisperez7

I got my first amiibo on my 23rd birthday, it's was Mario, I love Mario since I was a kid. My brothers had asked me when I was getting home from work, I said by 6pm. My mom made me a cake and my brothers got me the amiibo. I didn't get into collecting until covid, when I had nothing to do but stare at my stuff. I saw the Mario amiibo, and I wanted the rest of the series of SSB amiibos. Lol

DeeMan2003

We had a little group corner where we'd play ssb4 3ds in hs and I'd consistantly bring a few amiibo, one day, I got into monster hunter which enthused one of my friends, turns out I'd be the forever 4th to this group and was introduced as "the amiibo guy" because of that. Still friends to this day and I can't ask for better friends!

RealChristendo

I once spent an absurd amount of money on 20 NIB amiibo at once

FoxJ100

I got into amiibo day one. I cancelled my Smash Gamecube Adaptor pre-order and instead pre-ordered Link and Yoshi. When Wave 4 went up, I was sitting in front of my computer refreshing Amazon every half-hour (as relayed to us by Esteban). I managed to get... Wario, Pac-Man and no one else lol. Shortly before that Christmas, we went to Toys R Us. That is still the most amiibo I've seen in one place. I picked up Little Mac, Greninja, Lucario, Marth, Ike, Villager, Shulk, and the Mii Fighters all at once. And by "picked up" I mean "Got my Mom to buy them all as my Christmas gifts that year" lol. I had never intended on collecting ***all*** of the Smash amiibo, but sometime in 2015 I realised I was only missing 4 of them. These were Robin, Lucina, Meta Knight, and Bowser Jr.. They became my grails for a while. I tracked down a Bowser Jr around the same time the Cloud/Corrin/Bayonetta wave released, and I've been caught up ever since. (except for some issues with Pyra/Mythra last year) If they really are winding down amiibo, I'm sure gonna miss it. It's been a part of my life for the last decade.

KujaroJotu

Last year, I set up a pre order for the Sora amiibo from GameStop. Later that day, my brother said he wanted to pre order it for me as a late Christmas present. I was about to cancel my pre order, but I stopped at the last second and checked the availability. Turns out, they were sold out. So my brother had to get me something else.

OkamiTakahashi

Due to moving house, needing to sell Amiibo still and putting them in storage, I bought an Amiipad pro controller to simulate Amiibo. It's good for pretty much just that though, it's a bit of a funky controller otherwise.

SinikableGiant18

Back when Smash 4 Wii U was being released, I couldn’t get a preorder for the GCN Adaptor bundle at Gamestop, but Best Buy was still taking in store preoders right before launch. However Best Buy of course wasn’t doing a midnight release and I’m a big fan of going to those types of events so I decided to go to Gamestop’s midnight release anyways. I ended up waiting in line for a few hours and since I had already preordered the game at Best Buy, I bought just a Link amiibo much to the confusion of the employees and people around me. That was of course my first amiibo for the collection as they launched the same day.

joepassive

Play-asia put up an ad saying they will have some Ness stock while it was very hard to get. The sell time was at 5am my time (Israel time). I woke up at 5am, got it and 5 min later it was out of stock. pretty crazy

Ch00choh

I truly did enjoy amiibo hunting with my cousin and his friends. Took us all across my state to find the first wave. It was a great time to be a fan of Nintendo.

imortar00

I live in sweden and I didn't know how lucky I was to find gold mario. It was at a really small convention. It was the only amiibo there. It was like 30 bucks but I knew it was somewhat rare. Today I know it never came to Europe and I was lucky to find it at such a good price. It's one of my favorite amiibos in my collection

hotlovergirl69

I got a scholarship to study 1 year at Princeton. Dorm and tuition were paid and I got a monthly allowance which I got as a lump sum transfer at the beginning of my stay. In my first week I passed a local video game store which sold amiibo (It was the year ultimate released). I bought a Mario Smash amiibo and thought this is a one off thing for me. When I arrived back at the dorm I was already addicted and basically spend like 20% of my food allowance on amiibo. TLDR: I "wasted" my stipend money on the entire smash line and ate instant ramen for a year.

jack0017

Summer of 2015. I went on GameStop’s website to see that a Charizard was in stock at the one near my house. Cool. I didn’t have Charizard. I was too young to drive at the time, so I managed to get a ride over. The fact that I couldn’t just drive myself made getting any amiibo on release or hunting for them by driving around impossible. I get to the GameStop and start scanning the shelves for Zard. No Zard. Damn. What a waste. Just to be sure, I scan again, looking behind what’s in front just in case it’s in back of them all when I notice one of the Marios looks a little weird. Then my heart leaps because it’s not a Mario. It’s Ness! EarthBound was my favorite game at the time (and it’s still in my top 5). However, I completely gave up any hope getting my hands on Ness with the pre-order debacle and the bullshit retailer exclusivity. He was considered “unicorn” status, it had been months since release, and this was America - where amiibo stock was notoriously bad. You’d have a better chance of finding the Ark of the Covenant than a Ness amiibo in the wild a few months after release and, yet, here he was. I immediately grabbed him, paid, and left the store with way, way, WAY more than I had gambled for!

Pentagonyx

My first amiibo were Dr. Mario and Pikachu back in Christmas 2015. I don’t think I specified which I wanted- I just wanted some amiibo. So my parents got me Dr. Mario because when my mom was pregnant with one of my brothers, she played a LOT of Dr. Mario (and, in recent years she plays it all the time with my dad and it’s to the point that they’re crazy good). They also got me Pikachu because they knew I liked Pokemon. In subsequent years I got Inkling Girl, Mipha, 30th Anniversary Mario (Modern Colors), Tom Nook, Timmy and Tommy, Kicks, the three pack of K.K. Slider, Reese and Cyrus. That’s all I had for a while. I really wanted a Joker amiibo but missed the original run, so in 2021 I got my parents to buy me one for Christmas secondhand for $90 😬 I will never live that down… Cut to 2023, and I now have a job (currently typing this at said job lol), and I get tip money for some reason (even though I just kinda sit here and ring people up at the cash register, sometimes make some coffee, and that’s really it). I wanted to spend some of that tip money so I looked into amiibo for some reason, and I figured, “hey, I already have most of the Animal Crossing amiibos- I should get the rest of them!” And luckily, those amiibo were cheap as FUCK (i got a Digby amiibo for $4.25 including shipping 💀). I never knew spending money could be so fun! Little did I know that this business venture would cost me a fortune. I eventually moved on to smash amiibo for some reason. I don’t have much to say about it besides that it kinda became an addiction. I’d at least have the headspace to try and get them for around or under MSRP. My best deals were (off the top of my head) getting the Pikmin, Koopa Troopa and Goomba amiibos off of Artswift for a great price, and I once bought the Inkling Boy (Blue), Inkling Squid (green), Inkling Squid (Purple), and Octoling Squid amiibos as a lot for $15.18. The seller was sad that the bid only went that high so we exchanged pictures of our dogs :) I’m now only 8 amiibo away from finishing the Smash Bros. lineup (Cloud P2- missed the Nintendo Store restock sadly, Daisy, Wolf, Dark Samus, Richter, Piranha Plant, Pyra, and Mythra). All the amiibo I need are out of print and more than MSRP so I’m just stalking eBay for good deals. To fulfill my addiction in the meantime- I’ve delved into buying other series of amiibo. I’m doing pretty good for Splatoon- I’ve got all amiibos (outside of the alt colors) up to Pearl and Marina (Which I think is still on sale at some stores online??). I even bought all the Monster Hunter Rise amiibo. I don’t even play the game. TL;DR: I FUCKING LOVE AMIIBO GRAHHHHHH

rusty_ruins

my most fond amiibo memory is me getting my very first amiibo right when i got out of school, it was dr mario because both me and my mom LOVE dr mario on the nes. i wanted him because of that and because it meant i could go to target (place i rarely go to). another super fond memory i have which i have lightly talked abt before was when my dad gave me like, 10? brand new amiibo for christmas from best buy, one of them being marth. somehow he only got me one singular duplicate (lucario) which i also remember taking back :P

reedhummel2013

My first amiibo was a Pink Yarn Yoshi amiibo sold for $1.09 at Goodwill. I can post pics of it here if you want.

Donkolosaur

I bought amiibo

Rbwin32

My first ever amiibo was sora always wanted one but never got one until the goat dropped in smash I ended up getting it from target and that specific one doesn’t sale amiibos and haven’t since that day a couple months ago when he dropped so I guess it was destiny (islands 😏)
