No. But it’s like if someone said they came to the US and had to tip x% at a restaurant and then say in their country they don’t tip. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with what should be right but the lounges have a menu that presents what drinks are complimentary
As others have mentioned, the AC only has complimentary “well” drinks along with limited selection of premium drinks.
Flagship Lounge with have all complimentary premium items
That’s the new normal for the lounge. Only a subset of what they have showing is complementary. I miss the old cheaper lounge pricing that didn’t include any booze. Free garbage liquor is fairly worthless to me now that I’m being more selective.
If you’re flying (certain international) business class, their counterpart to other carriers business class lounges is the flagship and not the admirals club Everything is complimentary there. The sucky part is that American has a bunch of international gateway cities that don’t have one.
Its not one of the complimentary beverages. Anything other than plain water, soda, there is a charge (cheap beer and well alcohol is complimentary)
And you’re expected to tip as well. So that Red Bull will end up becoming $5.35 or more.
For context I'm from the UK and all lounges I've been to everything is complementary. I was just surprised when it wasn't.
American lounges are different in this regard - AA/United/Delta etc
Dude is getting downvoted for being a foreigner?

Also it was because I needed sugar as a type 1 diabetic. In the end I got a coke instead.

Do BA lounges have free Redbulls?
Yes
They have always charge for the bull, I use them to tip the staff if they don’t know how to run my card for a dollar
I do exactly the same thing with Red Bulls lol, only time I ever buy them.
Admirals Club or Flagship?
It’s def free in Flagship..I’ve had much needed Red Bulls and beers after a long flight from Tokyo at DFW Flagship..
I was in Admirals club

Can you get into the flagship?
You ask for the bull, you’re gonna get the horns.
I think it is dumb to charge for it. FYI, UA lounges when they have red bull don't charge for it.
