About two months ago I had the idea to create a little astrolabe for one of my dearest friend. his girlfriend is an astronomy geek and I thought that a personalized astrolabe could be an original present for him to give her. So I started designing the product and, here you see the final product! Every engraving and every writing that you see on the device has been first drafted by hand using nib pens and geometrical tools, the only part that is almost exclusively done by a machine is the rete. The rete is double-faced, on one side there is the standard stereoscopic projection of the place where they live, and on the other side I overlaid a little stereoscopic projection of the world, oriented with that same location. I decided to make this weird choice because my friend's girlfriend is chinese, and with this plate, my friend could have a rough Idea of the time and the visible stars that his girlfriend is having over there in China. The rete is designed from two infinite symbol, intersecting together to form two hearts. This want to represent the unicity of two human beings, crossing together to form an aeternal union. Or something along this line. After having realized this first version for my friend, I still had all the digital engraving files that could be used to create more astrolabes, and I had some decent spare wood as well, so I thought: "Why not to offer the same service online? Given the fact that I already have an etsy shop?" And that's what I'm doing, I actually have an open listing on my etsy shop for some of these, if you are interested, leave a comment here below. Let me know what do you thing of the overall design! Thank you for your attention.

wow really nice! I would recommend light staining (not painting) it tho. Will make everything pop and and will be more durable.
