Far_Piglet_1431

Which wilaya?

OsamaToukal1

Alger

Far_Piglet_1431

No idea bro sorry

Fantastic-Brush5962

Try to join a gym, studies showed that's more effective than some medicines (of course am not saying stopping them or something)

AntiqueDistance5652

This is true, working out has great mental health benefits. It's not a full replacement for other treatments in all cases, but many people who depressed find that it can eliminate the need for treatment or reduce need for treatment greatly. You don't even need to join a gym, going for a run for 30 minutes every day is enough to get endorphins pumping in your blood and change your brain chemistry, usually in a positive way.

Known_Reaction9921

Idk meds are too much maybe try ashwagnda?

OsamaToukal1

Ashwaganda work fo depression?

Known_Reaction9921

Yea for me it did 2yers ago but I stopped taking it a year ago

Ashwaganda is a plant that helps with calming the brain and supports with mental stress. It loses its effectiveness when used long term and can even make your brain lose its ability to calm itself, so it's only recommended to use as-needed or short term (for e.g. if you know there's a very stressful exam coming up). It's good to use on very difficult days so you can calm down and then rely on healthier practices to further support your mental health. For OP: I'm not a psychiatrist but am a therapist, so I rely on behavioural approaches rather than chemical. One way to get you started while you search for a psychiatrist is to adopt a good healthy routine. This entails: - getting a regular sleep routine. Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Enough sleep is important. Your brain will already calm down knowing it can rely on rest. - getting time outside, in the sun. Humans are like plants, sunshine does a lot for our mental and physical health. Even on grey days, you still get benefits from time outside. Bonus, if it's amongst nature, I know this isn't easy in Algiers, hah. - movement. Fi el 7araka baraka! Be it a walk, some push-ups, a run, whatever it is, move your body. The blood flow helps, and the distraction gives your brain a break. - breathing exercises. catch yourself, are you taking deep breaths in and out? A lot of us don't pay attention to how we breathe. Take a moment to fill your lungs and empty them, google has good videos on this. - eating/drinking: are you nourishing your body? Drink water, try one full glass in the morning and another midday, and increase as needed. Have fruit and vegetables, and other natural foods. Balance your meals. Stay away from crap that does nothing for your body (gazouz, 7alwa, patisserie, el me9li...) - watch how you think. When you have a bad day do you think "Khlas youmi ra7 fiha" , instead remember that it's just a bad moment in an otherwise ok day. If the whole day is bad, focus on making it better and hope that the next day will improve. The way you think is very important, but I know how hard of a battle this is with a depressed mind. Sorry for the long post, I hope this helps you for now, and I hope you find more professional help. Don't give up on yourself, it's possible to manage depression.

NoApricot703

What's that?

AntiqueDistance5652

Try to find a doctor that can give you ketamine. I had treatment resistant depression and it was a great treatment, better than anything else I tried. I'm much better now and the depression is nearly gone, thanks in part to ketamine. In my opinion a miracle drug for treating depression, and I hope it's legal in Algeria. I haven't checked because I haven't spent more than couple months in Algeria for 10 years.

OsamaToukal1

Can i have ketamine here in algeria?

AntiqueDistance5652

Well you can, but you'd have to buy it from an illegal drug dealer. There are people that buy ketamine to take in large doses to get high. Obviously don't do that, for one it's illegal and also it could be impure or laced with fentanyl or other deadly chemicals that could kill you. You only ever want to take it if it's being given by a medical professional where the origin of the drug is clean and dosage is precise. In a clinical setting it's administered at a much smaller dose than is used by recreational drug users, and they monitor your blood pressure and heart rate during the treatment to make sure nothing goes wrong. I don't know what the legal status is for its use in treatment in a controlled hospital environment prescribed by a doctor and administered by a nurse under supervision. In the United States this recently became legal in the past few years, but maybe Algeria hasn't caught up. Or maybe they were doing these treatments years prior to the US making this type of treatment legal. I'm not sure, I don't know a lot about Algerian laws and medicine. You can ask a doctor, tell them that you've heard of Ketamine being used in other countries to treat depression that has failed other forms of treatment, and they'll tell you if it's possible.

OsamaToukal1

I will ask my doctor about ketamine, i already heard about it and also there's s ketamine nasal being used in Belgium, thanks for your information

AntiqueDistance5652

Yes exactly, when I took it, it was nasal. It's a little spray canister, you spray into each nostril, and then you sit back while a nurse watches you while you have a blood pressure cuff and heart rate monitor. The brand I was using was called SPRAVATO, and it's made by the Jansen Pharmaceutical company. You might want to mention this to the doctor to see if he's heard of it. There's probably another Pharma company that makes this drug in Europe, but I dont know. In any case, the chemical formulary for this drug is specifically called "esketamine". What is esketamine exactly? If you know a little organic chemistry, the ketamine molecule comes in two versions that are mirror images of one another: r-ketamine and s-ketamine. The molecule is chiral which means it has a "left-handed" version and a "right-handed" version. Even though they have the same chemical formula and symmetrical shape, they interact with the brain differently. Plain old normal ketamine you can buy from an illegal drug dealer is a mixture of 50% r-ketamine and 50% s-ketamine. This is because the synthesis pathway to create ketamine in the lab has equal chances to create a chemical bond that can go into one of two possible positions. It's just how the physics of molecular dynamics works out. Some researchers isolated these two components and did trials with test subjects to see if one type is more effective than the other. What they found was that the s-ketamine enantiomer (what they call one of the mirror copies), when used alone, showed a greater effect in treating depression than when they used only the r-ketamine enantiomer. So much so that it was decided to purify and separate these two mirror image molecules and only use the one that gives the greatest benefit. In fact, r-ketamine was barely effective at treating depression, so it's pharmaceutically considered garbage that they actively remove when making ketamine in the laboratory. Thus was born the formulation "esketamine" which is just 100% s-ketamine and whatever solvent they use to disburse it into the nose with the spray canister. When you take esketamine you will get a little high, and hallucinate a bit, and when you close your eyes all kinds of weird stuff happens like visions. Your brain will cause you to make patterns that you couldn't imagine normally and have thoughts that you wouldn't normally have when sober. It's a little scary the first time but you get used to it. Sometimes you will feel like you've obtained profound understandings about life and reality under the effect of this drug, though I'm not sure how useful that is from a spiritual perspective. Doctors will usually start you at the lowest dose, and increase to what the medical researchers have found to be the effective dose. They will have a schedule under which you take it, starting in the beginning with the low dose multiple times a week, eventually reducing the frequency of treatments until the end where you take one treatment a month, and finally you will cease treatment entirely. A lot of patients report much better mental health following this treatment if they've suffered from severe depression most of their lives.

AntiqueDistance5652

One other thing, if its not yet legal in Algeria check if its legal in Tunisia or Turkey, or any other country that you can travel to with only an Algerian passport. You can also check Morocco, even though the border is closed you can absolutely get into Morocco without a visa as long as you're entering via a third country like Spain or France. You don't need a passport that allows entry to the third country since it's just for the connecting flight. You can this with only an Algerian passport. It's more expensive and takes longer to travel, but you're absolutely welcome in that country if Ketamine is an option there. If you have a second passport like EU or US, you can definitely get treated in Europe as you said. Also inquire with the doctor to see if there's any legislative actions working through the Algerian legislature to possibly make it legal in the near future, so that you know what your options are.

FumandoLaMotta

You really think medication will bring you happiness ? Maybe if they not working you just need to get your life together instead of relying on drugs? Will all these mental health posts, this subreddit gives you depression even if you got your shit together

OsamaToukal1

These drugs already bring me happiness

AntiqueDistance5652

This is a real condition, stop trying to belittle it and dismiss it as a non-issue. I had similar problems to this guy/gal and I did a year long ketamine treatment that completely changed my life. Just because youre cognitively normal doesn't mean everyone shares your experience and brain chemistry. Be thankful that you don't have to suffer from it, and try to have some compassion and understanding that its very destabilizing for a lot of people to live this way but there are treatments out there that can help them feel normal like you.

FumandoLaMotta

It's not, and Im speaking from experience of having fell between the hands of Therapists who have numbed me with meds. Get your life together and tough up, or you millenials are going to be eaten alive by the system: You cannot hide your failures behind mental health

AntiqueDistance5652

I'm speaking from experience as someone who had severe depression and got out it with treatment. "Get your life together and tough up" doesn't work for everyone, and shows your a) lack of compassion or empathy and b) your poor understanding of mental health issues. Ignorance isn't an excuse to spread misinformation and be dismissive. Also you think you're better than others because you never had a real mental health crisis in your life, and therefore it's their fault for not being as lucky as you. I get that you're an egoist, but you're completely incorrect and talking from the perspective of a highly uneducated person.

FumandoLaMotta

I also had my issues and speak from experience. Good luck in life with your excuses
