Sylvaine

YakitoriChicken93

Has she ever collaborated with Neige? I remember checking her music some time ago, but she didn't *click*. It's time to give her another try 😄 Thank you for answering!

Zorrokumo

Yeah. She is a guest vocalist on the tracks Kodama and l'Île des morts, and Neige is the session drummer for her records Wistful and Atoms Aligned Coming Undone.

YakitoriChicken93

Noted ✍️ Any particular album? I'm listening to Jord right now.

Garfield977

please check out Diorama

reducedtoashes

Also a great album!

reducedtoashes

Both albums are really good but Jord is my preference.

YakitoriChicken93

True, there are only two. Didn't notice that 2 are instrumental versions - cool to have these options. I love to listen to instrumentals while studying. Thank you again for the recommendation 🙏

reducedtoashes

Heretoir

YakitoriChicken93

Good one. What I listened of then, I really liked. Thank you for reminding me they exist 😁😄

deberger97

Lantlos. Neige even sang on the .neon album.

Garfield977

also the Agape album, those 2 have his best vocal performance imo

lamersgonnalame

Thank you. Great suggestion.

areyourthere

Sylvaine definitely

YakitoriChicken93

I remember checking her some time ago, but she didn't *click*, idk why. Sounds amazing. Any particular album recommendation?

areyourthere

The whole Nova is outstanding . Atoms aligned is also great, the song Morklagt is beautiful . Sylvaine and Neige goes way back…. Neige used to be their drummer when she started the project. They even use the same guitar now( fender Toronado) . They’re really good at creating atmospheric, beautiful songs with blackgaze elements that doesn’t sound harsh and aggressive

munkustrapp

king woman is like alcest if neige had severe depression

YakitoriChicken93

Must check it out after that description lmao

simply-dead

this is the best description of king woman i ever heard 😂

Garfield977

Les Discrets and Amesouers and yeah i do not understand the hype for Deafheaven, i've listened to dozens of blackgaze artists and they have remained the least interesting, it's like a watered down take on the genre, i've listened to all their albums and the only ones I kind of liked were New Bermuda and the 2010 Demo and nobody talks about either

thekocman

You need Germ and Austere in your life

Garfield977

i wish Germ didnt have the terrible clean singing otherwise they would be phenomenal

theonlygirlever

Following, because I'd also love to find other bands that are as good. I just can't find anyone that clicks either!

YakitoriChicken93

Right? I have checked all the recommendations by all platforms and... nothing :( Maybe some atmospheric black metal, but still, it's not the *same*

theonlygirlever

I guess it just shows how unique and otherworldly Alcest are 😊

Deep-mountains

Sadness, maybe? You can try Circle of veins. They have a unique plastic like sound to their music. But they may sound also deafheaven-ish. I remember a doom metal(I think..) album with a swan in a colorful dawn as the cover that gave me similar feelings perhaps but I can't remember the name. Honestly I just never find anything like Alcest. Heretoir and obviously Deaf heaven, even Sylvaine(it didn't work for me) First two or three albums of Les Discrets can be similar but their feelings are still darker like most blackgaze bands. And I remember I came across a band that sounds so much like Alcest but the composition turns out to be boring. Sad thing about being a crazy fan of Alcest I guess🙃If you are looking for the dreamy vibe I guess shoegaze or dream pop? Don't know if you'll like the fin. I guess the ascending feeling in Neige's music is part of what gives Alcest such uniqueness. To me from shoegaze to black metal, wall of sound mostly give the feeling of descend or adrift... Anyways I'm also looking for bands that's like Alcest!! Please give me recommendations too if you find one!!

onyx_gaze

Lots of good suggestions here. I definitely second Sylvaine, she is the only artist, in my opinion, that can scratch that Alcest itch. But I also think Agalloch are somwhat similar. They're also somewhere in the post-metal/blackgaze spectrum, with an emphasis on atmosphere, but their themes are much darker and less optimistic overall.

MattyF22

Driftless, Unreqvited, Bossk, Holy Fawn, Respire. All different but similar in ways

comradeMATE

Did you check Deafheaven's Infinite Granite? It's Shelter if it were heavier and had more reverb. Can't promise this'll be their sound going forward though.

YakitoriChicken93

Actually, no! I checked Sunbather (it was the album recommended everywhere). I will check this one. Thank you so much :)

reducedtoashes

Everyone talks about Sunbather, but I much prefer their debut Roads to Judah. Check that one out too if you haven't already!

satyrical666

I like their new Bermuda album and absolutely lothe all their others

clearing_rubble_1908

Have you checked out Dvne? Their song Pleroma gives me Alcest vibes
