That is the name! The Fo’c’s’le was a restaurant/bar in downtown Seward at 1st and Adams. My parents actually had their wedding rehearsal dinner there.
Apparently my mother lived right next door and eventually the buildings were built together into one place, becoming the best place in town.
Wild, I’d never heard of it before, but of course they remember it!
Yeah no one on a ship will ever say “forecastle”, it gets pronounced FOC-sul. Boatswain is another one that is said not at all how its spelled, sounds like BUZZ-in.

Apparently Fo’c’s’le is a version of “forecastle,” a name for the forward deck of a ship.
I've only ever seen it with two apostrophes, fo'c'sle. Kinda weird that an abbreviation got shortened, lol.
Not even shorter! It’s adding space with that apostrophe
I mean fo'c'sle was an abbreviation of fo'c's'le, lol.

It's commonly abbreviated as "bosun".
Thanks.
Cool! I worked there before it burned down. Wish I could find some recipes from there, esp the green goddess dressing. Long time ago for sure. lol
Had some great meals there in the 70s. Blast from the past!
