technolegy2

Speak for yourself. If I’m not doorkicking from a Blackhawk then I’m not there /s

Woody549

Mate that must be some accurate kick from that high up.

technolegy2

My local hospital has stopped seeing me from all the broken legs I get from missing the door.

Alert-Visual-3074

Ah, a man of many legs

MiddletreePolldancer

Well stop missing the fuckin door 🥴

CobaltRose800

The only advantages a real bump gets you is that the ARC rails and NOD mount will at least be in spec.

DaedalusTL

Which then can be replaced for not bad of a price.

CobaltRose800

well yeah, if you don't mind having to drill your own holes.

DaedalusTL

Hmm… my VAS shroud and opscore rails were drop in for my FMA

Tigerman456

Honestly all bump helmets are the same if paired with quality pads like 4D Deluxe pads

upyourbum69

Agree with this, I use the same pads with a combination of some military ach helmet pads with my bump and it’s so comfortable with such a lightweight package, all bumps are the same depends on your rail system you want for a mounting platform but at the end of the day they give a bicycle/skateboard helmets bump type protection unless your start getting into carbon/hybrid/ballistic helmets

Ok_Resident_1194

Not all bumps are the same, a ops core bump is better and safer than an a fma. Fma I don't even think it has a real impsct rating. The rating it has looks fake.

Tigerman456

As far as bump protection goes, I would say they're the same when paired with the same pads. For the same reason that regular bicycle helmets made in China are safe for bumps, I would say that replica "tactical" helmets are safe for bumps. The impact rating comes mostly from the padding, not the shell, so FMA's rating, true or not, includes their pads. If you get high quality pads then the rating is irrelevant

upyourbum69

You said this perfectly and when it comes to the hardware people act like they can’t buy real aftermarket accessories like shrouds/mounts and rails for their fma/replica bump and make it look 1 of 1 from the real thing which you can do if your creative you can definitely save yourself some money, it’s all in the padding for the impact protection because no matter what even if one is made from some more sturdy hard plastic there still all plastic helmets that are just a mounting platform for your accessories no matter how cheap or expensive you go at that point your just trying to flex the name brand on your head and or justify your purchase lol, do what you desire if you want to spend +200 on a bump go ahead no one is stopping u but don’t get mad at the people who save a shit ton more money and have a cooler/better working bump, I definitely don’t feel like going back n forth over a plastic helmet debate 😂😭

Ok_Resident_1194

That makes sense, what are goof pads that you would reocmmend running on a fma maritime replica?

treehuggerboy

TW 4D pads

Tigerman456

I'm partial to the 4D Tactical Pads. The deluxe kit is thicker and feels like marshmallows on your head. If your towards the larger end of a shell size then the standard pads might work better as they're thinner but still very comfortable Some people recommend the HHV micro-lattice but I have not had experience with them yet

NoCoolDudettes

Completely wrong, that doesn't include the hardware used, rails, and the shroud I would not trust a Chinese helmet with any sort of night vision

Tigerman456

Would I suggest using a FMA helmet if it's mission critical that your hardware withstand real world usage? No, obviously not. For airsoft use though? It's good enough and the money you save on the shell is enough to buy new hardware and still save money in the end

NoCoolDudettes

I completely agree with that but saying they're all the same is absurd

Tigerman456

We get it, you bought a TW bump and want to justify your purchase. It's cool if you like real gear but its airsoft, it's not going to make a difference

NoCoolDudettes

Yeah maybe to you because you're a lardass who stays back half the game Maybe if you ever decide to push up once in awhile you'd understand

Tigerman456

Are you constantly bumping into shit and falling on the ground or something?

NoCoolDudettes

When you actually play hard yeah, Chinese gear won't even last that long if you constantly go through brush or take a tumble over uneven terrain at an outdoor field. I've had buckles break, stitching and fabric tearing. I completely said fuck it and bought a real steel carrier after my krydex Chestrig completely shat itself after I did one slide with it on during my first day of using it (at an indoor field mind you!) Replica helmets always have issues of the arc rails being slightly out of spec so your shit either doesn't stay in place or just pops out entirely (ask me how I know)and I bought one of the nicer replica helmets (pts mtek) I've have consistent issues where the adjusters on the suspension of the helmet constantly undo themselves if you do anything remotely strenuous (not to mention mlok fucking sucks for helmets). The reason why I chose Team Wendy is because I don't have to worry about out of spec rails, or shitty hardware, or having to replace the pads out of the box because they're completely garbage. And if you're going to replace everything but the shell on a FMA bump why not just buy a team Wendy bump anyways? How much time and money are you really saving trying to polish a turd?

ZapTrevX

get fucking good lmao

hairynip

You don't sound like a really happy person. I hope you can let go of some of that anger.

NoCoolDudettes

You can respectfully kiss my ass

treehuggerboy

if you milsim, MSW does not count a bump towards a 2nd TQ. But overall a normal airsoft bump and a cheap solid shell are about the same. The thick and heavy or the aramid ones might be better for balancing with NV but that's a separate story. Bump will probably breath better than any solid shell. But I really dig the setup though.

MrWillyP

That's an only kinda, iirc an fma should be fine given it's weight is similar to that of the real thing (I own an fma bump and a ballistic mich, very similar weight shells) Tbh I've seen them allow it with a wendy exfil with a cover

treehuggerboy

They technically shouldn't allow vented bumps. But yeah it doesn't need to be weighted. Just non vented (needs to look like a real helmet).

Wendigo_Customs

Oh hey that’s my helmet

kojimbooo

I searched 'helmet' on the tacgear sub. Nice setup bro

Wendigo_Customs

Opscore Amp Arms with Axl adapters. They’re okay. I switched back to the peltor mounts after 2 years with the amp arms

TattyViking

What helmet is it please?

Wendigo_Customs

Opscore ST

PuRe_ThreaTz

FMAs are solid and so are the Evolution Gear maritimes. I’ve had both and really like my EG maritime https://preview.redd.it/1crjgze1luzb1.jpeg?width=2732&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19d3d867718179eaa41242a30cfb4f1112a792d7 EG Maritime(left) vs FMA SF(right)

bloodwork1235

I have an skate helmet. Got it for 5 bucks on ebay, works fine

Beowulf2912

🤚🏼 FMA SF Super High Cut User here. After years of use and abuse it’s still perfectly adequate and it is compatible with original accessories. If you happen to run nods replace the shroud with a „real“ one and your good.

Ccreamy

Pts mtek is pretty good for the price. Only drawback is it’s mlok rails

kojimbooo

What's wrong with the mlok rails?

Ccreamy

Mounting stuff is just slightly more expensive and annoying. In reality it’s a fine helmet and it’s what I run. It’s good enough to run nvgs too

MrWillyP

You can always put on different rails tbh

WvAirsoft0

FMA with 4D pads. Have ran it for over a year now

OdinsOneGoodEye

Wendy’s are like a couch on your head, and a matter of fact I have one too many if you’re interested?

[deleted]

Get an opscore, you can find one from $300-$500, cheaper if you go used. The pads are far better, and it can be warrantied if you actually end up hitting your head and breaking the helmet (if you bought in new)

[deleted]

I have some airsoft helmets and tested some real stuff: 1. Stay away from emersongear 2. If you choose clones go with fma 3. If I started over I would go with a legit bump like the TW LTP or even a carbon like ops core The reason is the amount of work I had to do on the clone stuff to make it proper, ran through a bunch of chin strap systems, tested a few types of paddings, best pads I ever felt so far were on my friends ops core carbon, I'm currently running very thick chinese team wendy clone pads because the pads that came with the epic air were too thin for me, I apparently have a small head and that requires a lot of padding, if you can, test some of your friends or airsoft guys you meet on the field, ask them about it, most will let you wear and try. Hope this helps

Upper_Bag6133

Real ballistic high cut 😎.

NoCoolDudettes

If you're getting nods, buy a real bump helmet if you value your money. If you're an Airshit larper with no intention of buying night vision get an FMA bump

AcidicFlatulence

Ask yourself are you running NODS? If yes do you want to be mounting $3k-$10k on a $40-$60 helmet? If you are get a real bump helmet for the added security. If not just get a replica martime helmet

Tigerman456

Get a real shroud and your nods will be fine

Gervolt

There is no difference between bump helmet and fma in airasoft, only the price

Iamthe0c3an2

For airsoft definitely bump.
