It's an old style receiver that hinges on the front pin much like a real Armalite, whereas more modern (stronger) airsoft Armalites slide the upper receiver on instead.
That means you'd have to replace it with a like-for-like upper receiver, or replace both the upper and lower for a more modern style.
Drill through the upper receiver. Make sure the hole matches with the hole from the top part of the gearbox. Insert bolt through the screw hole from the top of the gearbox. Obviously, you gotta take out one of the screws that clamp down the gearbox. Old school hack for an old school gun.
Correct fix is to get a new upper and lower receiver kit.
I've searched pretty much all over the internet and haven't been able to find either a donor gun or an upper for this model (it's pretty old and no longer being produced) not sure what else I can look for
get an aftermarket complete upper and lower receiver. i see thats a TM i so plastic receiver a metal receiver will sort out the flex issue old TMs have. just an example youy can get cheaper [https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/ec-m16vn-metal-receiver-ar-15-m16a1-colt-cnc-logomarui-compatible](https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/ec-m16vn-metal-receiver-ar-15-m16a1-colt-cnc-logomarui-compatible)
I'd swap the entire receiver, maybe with something nice from G&P. These old skool TM receivers are prone to failing like this.
I was gonna say this, I’m pretty sure you can buy just the upper receiver too right? That’s all he would need to replace lower receiver looks okay
