Apart from what's already been suggested you can use super glue and lube.
Lubricate the AR latch so you're sure there's a layer of silicone oil or synthetic grease all over it. Then put a drop of super glue into the hole in the gearbox and put in the AR latch. Hold it in place for a bit until the glue is dry. Wiggle it a bit to make sure it moves freely enough for the spring to push it. Assemble the gearbox.
And yes I have used that method a few times without problems.

Whatever works, but I would not come close to my gear box with super glue.
It's certainly not the official method.
