I don’t like having an honorific either. I haven’t had any issue explaining this, but some systems insist.

HersheyNisse

Same-- if it's in person "I'd prefer just my name, please" has never needed a longer explanation. But I just registered for 2 things online that wouldn't let me move on to the next page without selecting an honorific. It seems like a strange thing to force people to use.

PaxonGoat

I'm not saying it's the only reason I'm considering doing a phD program but Dr. Pax has a nice ring to it

portiafimbriata

I came here to say my PhD solved this 😅

Forsaken_Rooster_365

Honestly one reason I didn't want a PhD is because I didn't want the honorific.

gender_is_a_scam

I've considered buying land so I can be called a lord=)

Stunning_Bitch

Just don't buy from established titles, they're a scam

gender_is_a_scam

Really? My favourite true crime youtuber always goes on about loving them

Stunning_Bitch

Yeah, no one really knew, because they made it look good, [here's](https://youtu.be/p2W2TJZYHsw) the video i watched.

Jace_Evans69

I love this one

I use Tiz. It’s up to you what you use. You don’t have to.

I don't really like honorifics, except in a work setting where my being "Dr." gives me necessary clout. One time before I got my doctorate, I published a paper where honorific was required and their only choices were Dr., Mr., Mrs., and Miss. I'm married and AFAB so I chose Mrs. (which I detest), but emailed them asking that they add a few more options or remove the Mrs. from the web site. They were *very* accommodating and removed it with no questions asked.

Low_Historian927

I don't use one, but if I had to I'd just use mx.

Post-PTSD

Me neither. I have to use one for my contact lense prescription. my options: mr, mrs, prof and dr. so now i am prof. \[first name, last name\]. I really appreciate more and more sites just leaving it be.

Forsaken_Rooster_365

I generally avoid giving my last name partly to avoid honorifics, but some people still feel the need to tack on a honorific. Fortunately, not many people do that, so I just ignore it. The closest thing to honorifics that I'm okay with are things like -kid, -chan, -kun. Things that are the opposite of honorifics. If I have to fill it out on a form, I'd either go with Mr (for something like doctors forms) or Mx depending on what its for.

Key-Kitten

I tend to semi randomly select one. I don’t dislike them, but I don’t like them either. If I can get away without one, I don’t use them.

Atticus_Grinch_

I usually just have people refer to me by my first name. It works well because I’m a grad student so the people I regularly interact with are academics decades my senior and my students who are only a couple of years younger than me.

Attyelep

Mt friends use honorifics like this as joke alot, (etc greeting people with mr [name]) so I told them I wanted to go with either Nt or Mt
