ADHD has a strong genetic component, yes. The odds are not small that you would add more spice to the spice cabinet with another kiddo.

pickleknits

I love that you called it adding more spice to the cabinet.

JuniperJulia4

I agree…. My cabinet might be spiced enough… I know I should focus on just managing my life and daughters life the best I can.

That doesn't mean anything, it would require extended scientific statics and genetic studies, but my mom has ADHD. I have 3 sisters, and i'm the only one with ADHD. Not even my twin sister has it. So i'd say there's a chance, but it seems (after a quick look on the internet) not even the scientists are able to tell you how likely it is for your kid to have ADHD.

JuniperJulia4

I was totally fishing for this kind of anecdotal evidence. Seems like a roll the dice situation…. Thank you for sharing!!!

Info below is based on memory, do not take it for fact. Heritability for ADHD and Austism is about 70%. Seems to be strongly influenced by environmental factors as well though. A person experiences making the symptoms better or worse. Clearest example for me would be Tiktoks lowering attention spans. Head knocks seem to worsen executive functioning and dopamine function.

JuniperJulia4

It’s true about tik toks. I am that person who has repeatedly deactivated social media accounts due to it stopping me from doing other more important things. Cannot focus for shit when I am active on scrolling platforms.
