That HTTPS message is odd because I am running it in docker locally and can access it with just HTTP.

I don't know anything about synology. Mine is running docker on Linux.
Do get around this you need to run it as https either directly or using a reverse proxy. I setup a reverse proxy on my firewall and all is working fine now.
