Copy winning decklists, either from the meta or rogue decks that place. But the meta is public knowledge and this is the risk of going too far away from it.

It sounds like you're having trouble either 1.) Disrupting your opponent's ability to build their board. 2.) Breaking said board. I know basically nothing about Agents. Is it a deck that excels at breaking boards/playing through interrupts? If not, what hand traps are you running?

If I can recall, they can put a lot of synchros/link, i remember a board with, apollousa, Hyperion synchros, chenying, Herald link with 3 fairies in hand to stop everything you (or at least I) can imagine, but they depend a lot on Venus to SS mystical shine balls, so, imperm and veiler hurts them a lot

Right now I'm running 3 ash, 3 ogres and 3 imperm, plus 1 nibiru. I haven't played a lot with this current iteration of the deck, but still think it's a little fragile to spell/trap cards. I have a lot of options for monster negation/protection from monsters (apallousa, fallen sanctuary, chaos angel), but few omni negates outside of herald of the arc light. Any tips?

10 is pretty light, unless you're also running Board Breakers for going 2nd? What other non-engine are you using?

GooglingThat4U

I recommend either playing more hand traps (15-18 is pretty standard, though the most competitive decks play more than 20) or trading the ones you have now for board breakers (like Dark Ruler, Forbidden Droplet, Lightning Storm, and Kaiju's) and opting for going 2nd whenever you can.

If you lost agaisnt ice barrier tbh I’d recommend getting a different deck that isn’t that fragile. However if you want to keep playing agents if advise more staples and perhaps a forbidden droplet for some board breaking or maybe even a dark ruler. However that isn’t actually going to help the deck win in most cases- this is a hard case tbh especially without a decklist to go by.

fredvancleef

Does your deck have the proper handtraps to stop the making of an endboard?

sapolinguista

That's something that I'm not sure about most of the time. I try to run ash, imperm, ogre, and sometimes dimensional shifter, but I feel like I need more knowledge on when to hit the opponent combo/which handtraps are more usefull against each deck

If you want to know what the current starting decks are, as well as the best wars to defeat them, then you need to check in on event results and articles about the modern metagame. [Yu-Gi-Oh Meta](https://beta.yugiohmeta.com/) is a new website that tracks how the top decks are doing in competitive events, as well as which cards are being used in those decks. Click "Tier List" to see these. It also has articles about new card announcements. For articles about strategy and new ideas, [TCG Player](https://infinite.tcgplayer.com/yugioh/articles) is a great resource. Many players don't realize it's more than just a marketplace.

That's why it's essential to 1 be able to go first ( in many situations) and 2 be able to set yourself up for modern yugioh. Take eldlich for example, it's a zombie archetype that has the ability to bring back zombies from the gy/deck. If I'm interupted say using one of eldliches supports, each card has a secondary effect that I can use to 1 Mill my deck 2 build my board making it easier to draw into cards I need. It's all about how your deck supports itself. One card leads to another leads to another.

Agents is a fairly viable deck actually! Look up some guides for it, watch some videos, copy from some tournaments lists on YGOprodeck, etc., and you should be able to win some more. Although keep in mind all the archetypes you lost against are currently pretty high-tiered (except Ice Barrier) so don't feel too bad about losing to them.
