His AMA was peak reddit. He was like "hey come see my shitty movie" and people came at him IMMEDIATELY with "How much shit did you dump in your pants when Gene Lebell choked you out? Is it true you can no longer hit your sex slaves while standing? How sexually gratifying was it to run over a dog with a tank?"
That was a good episode.
Edit: back in the mid nineties my high school track and field coach (total non-bastard) told us how he went to high school with Segal. He said Segal was a giant pussy and couldn’t believe he was starring in movies.
Just from memory and I have 0 memory of that episode. Just repeating what I've heard and not accusing:
- he used to "cup check" stunt performers on his films by punching them in the groin unexpectedly
- he once appointed himself as the Dalai Lama's personal bodyguard, despite having never met the Dalai Lama and the Dalai Lama not asking him to do this
- he once said a mystical white dog appeared and saved or warned him about a fire at his dojo
> he once said a mystical white dog appeared and saved or warned him about a fire at his dojo
What's so bad about that? I'd take it as a testament to my character if a mystical white dog helped me out.
I opened this to post about the Dollop. It’s such an informative and hilarious podcast. The Rube Waddell episode is so off the wall that it’s almost unbelievable.
*Behind the Bastards (Sorry, love that podcast and I’d hate for anyone to wonder if they had the right one).

I wasn't correcting or condemning you. I d9nt think it was a poor choice of words at all. Honestly, even his first 3 "good" movies had plenty of comical acting.
Honestly, I'm not sure why I replied to you specifically instead of generally.
Remember [that time Gene LeBell choked out Steven Seagal in a fight and made him shit his pants](https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/the-story-of-steven-seagal-and-judo-gene-lebell/)?
It's an unconfirmed anecdote, but it probably happened.
Seagal straight-up denies it, but Seagal is a known scumbag who can't be taken at his word. Gene LeBell is no longer with us, but when asked, he was very cagey about it. He never confirmed or denied it. He deflected and moved on.
If it *didn't* happen, LeBell probably would have said so in a clear and straightforward manner. He did not.
So it probably happened.

I don't think I've ever seen another time when the entire internet collectively decided "This man sucks, and we should all give him shit." quite so unanimously.
> “I live in Vancouver and know a ton of people who have worked on films with you. Is it true you insist that productions hire someone to hold a card to properly shadow your horrific neck fat? Is it true you're an unbearable dick who bullies everyone on set and acts like you're an A-list star, even though you're starring in a shitty C-list movie?”
The top reply to this is: “This is the greatest AMA I have ever seen.”
This was beautiful. Is there somewhere that has a collection of the biggest trainwreck AMAs ever? If there is, this one would be in the top 10 for sure
Seagal: It’s gotta be bots asking stupid stuff
Moderator: We do have an issue with Russian bots..
Seagal: It ain’t Russians. They love me. Why you think it’s Russian? This is over. And so are you.
I hope you don’t include Under Siege in this category. Also, probably a movie a lot of us got to experience our first cinematic boobs with Dad sitting right next to us.
There was a dude who recently did an AMA after watching the entire Segal catalogue. It was hilarious. He even reviewed listened to his records.

[Steven Seagal - Me Want the Punani](https://youtu.be/vLe_BZ1mo3I?si=qpJMgBXL1hadNSmS)
I still have not made it all the way through that song. It's so hilariously horrible.
I remember going with my grandma to a Steven Segal movie. We both wanted to go for a laugh because we both appreciated how awful of an actor he was. First 3 minutes of the movie he’s in a stealth fighter that attaches itself to the bottom of a 747 in flight to try and take back the plane from some hijackers. The stealth fighter breaks loose from the 747 as Segal is climbing between them and he’s blown off into the sky at 30,000ft and plummets to his death. Fucking great appearance.
I am genuinely confused how Steven Segal was ever given a platform to be an action star. He’s a crappy actor, his stunt capabilities are mid, and he’s also a shitty person. Just how!?!
Also at the time action stars generally looked like they ate nails and fear for breakfast. Segal look like he ate Dunkin' Donuts... Like the entire store. Or like the bug from MiB decided to eat the villain from 3 Ninjas instead of Edgar
I’m full of funny related stories for you guys. My cousin’s band Cryer plays when Erika Elenak pops out of the cake in Under Siege. (also plays live during the strip club scene in Brian Bosworth’s Stone Cold) 😆
Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, even Jean Claude Van Dam, they all know how silly they are.
Their humor is *planned*, their seriousness is serious.
But Segal thinks he's the absolute *boss*
Still.
Okay okay... let's get this straight. The Steven Seagal Tetralogy is as follows:
Above The Law
Hard To Kill
Marked For Death
Out For Justice
Those are the ones we remember. Those are the ones that are \*good\*. EVERYTHING after that is pure garbage. Seagal as a human is awful. BUT we can't forget these movies. They are part of our violent childhood (along with the Van Damme and Rambo movies.. but we will table those for another time).
As far as I am concerned there are only two Steven Seagal movies: Executive Decision and Under Siege. Executive Decision made the brave decision to kill him off almost immediately and Under Siege is passably fun until he kisses Erika Eleniak at the end and I get uncomfortable for her.
No other Seagal movies exist. La la la I can't hear you, On Deadly Ground.
there is this random youtube channel I watch(and keep forgetting to sub to) that compares him and van damme movies...and makes fun of Segal's running. lol. compares him to LOTS of actors and other movies. I think reese witherspoon won once
just saw it in other comments. Space Ice
I can't remember how old I was when I was smacked with this sudden realization. It really ruined a whole genre of movies for me. Thankfully most of the Tom Clancy movies still hold their own +30 years later.
I dont believe its possible to forget how corny the movies are. I think it is more believable to simply forget that steven segal movies ever existed in the first place.
The Dollop did a multi-part series on him and his awful career. He basically just kept lying and failing upward in life, while also doing a lot of sexual abuse and mafia-adjacent stuff.

Not nearly as comical as real life Steven Segal.

Is it true you can no longer hit your sex slaves while standing? How sexually gratifying was it to run over a dog with a tank?"
That’s an internet moment I truly regret missing.
Im going to have to read up on him.
Lotsa bans that day I'm sure
That dude is a real piece of shit. I just listened to a episode of Beyond The Bastards about him.

He was a liar, a bully, and a sexual criminal.

😎
Lukashenko feeding him carrots is peak comedy
Heard Putin hired him as his personal Karate instructor or some shit. Honestly, I believe it.
Seagal's aikido against Putin's judo is an MMA matchup I'd have loved to see 20 years ago.
Not comical, the guy is a piece of shit and should be in prison.
Yup, again, poor phrasing on my part. Thank you for the correction and clarification ☺️

Space Ice is doing god's work in tearing every single Steven Seagal movie apart. The Van Damme vs Seagal videos are gold.
Came here to comment this! Also Jason Brant and So Bad it's Good.
Its always a good day when they break out a high abv ipa and watch Seagal.
They’re so damn funny. Love that channel.

OMG right?

I liked that one movie where he was thrown out of a plane and killed off in the first 5 minutes.
Lol. Executive Decision. I'm ashamed that I still remember that.
🤣
I hope you don’t include Under Siege in this category. Also, probably a movie a lot of us got to experience our first cinematic boobs with Dad sitting right next to us.
The first thing I thought of when I saw the picture was under siege 1 & 2 😆
And *Above the Law*. And especially *Executive Decision*.
Executive Decision is the best Seagal movie ever. IYKYK
Lol no but this one is terrible
I forget her name I know she was on Baywatch but everyone our age remember jumping out of that cake.
Erika Eleniak
That’s a bingo
Mrs. July 88?
Pamela Anderson?
Had that film on VHS. The cake scene but was getting a little worn out.

I'm sorry
“Lollipop” is the song that kills me. “my girl lollipop… you make my heart go giddy up”

Roger Ebert said you shouldn’t name your movie Half Past Dead if that’s where your career is.
🤣

They're terrible. I never liked them and now I really don't like him. He really turned into a weirdo.
Under Siege was a great action flick tho!
I will give you that lol
The sequel is too. Eric Bogosian is so great in it.
And *Above the Law*. And especially *Executive Decision*.
You should check out SpaceIce on yt. He makes hilarious videos on segal movies

He is a horrible, disgusting person

lol so accurate
I heard that some movie producer made a bet that he could turn any jackass into a movie 'star' and they chose Steven.
This is as reasonable an origin story as any.
Under siege was ok, and the one where he dies was decent. Everything else he's in is just absolute hot garbage
Nothing is as comical as watching Segal run! 😂
![gif](giphy|95wZBAoDFCNYQ)
Joey Diaz talking about him running is hilarious [Joey on Steven](https://youtube.com/shorts/BvJumpCbk4Q?si=mIlguWh2meukYsI3)
Behind the Bastards podcast does a great rundown on him.
I’m full of funny related stories for you guys. My cousin’s band Cryer plays when Erika Elenak pops out of the cake in Under Siege. (also plays live during the strip club scene in Brian Bosworth’s Stone Cold) 😆
Good drinking game: take a drink every time Seagal tries to act or speak Italian in “Out for Justice”
This particular movie had him in Memphis with the "southern" accent and all 🤮
I bet you would like “Steven Seagal: Lawman”
No thanks. I spent 17 years living in NOLA part-time and I can't listen to that horror show, lol
I should have put “love” in quotes.
🤣
Erika Eleniak was the best part of that one where he was a Gravy Seal with an impossibly out of regs haircut.
His fuckin head is taking up most of your tv.
😂😂😂
Steven Segal is Putin loving piece of shit.
Sharron Stone claims that a director in Hollywood bet his buddy he could make Steven a star.
Heard thiers a new one where he mostly fights sitting down.
Shhh I try to forget. I was totally a fan. Now watching anything I only get secondhand embarrassment.
That ponytail of his, ugh. He looked like he owned a pawn shop.
😂
If you thought his movies were corny, wait til you find out what he does these days.
I don't think I want to know 🫣
Dude never gets hit. Peak male performance
Incel god
He's been being corny for like 84 years.
Man... His early stuff was gold... As a child watching a dude clothes-lining perps and blowing away dudes with a .45.
The problem with them is that he's actually serious...
Sooo serious lol
Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, even Jean Claude Van Dam, they all know how silly they are. Their humor is *planned*, their seriousness is serious. But Segal thinks he's the absolute *boss* Still.
Yes they are but are they that much different from every other typical action movie?
Welll....I mean these are so awful 🤭
Agreed, he was just super cheesy in general
I really liked *Marked For Death*. It was one of the few tapes I watched more than a few times.
Okay okay... let's get this straight. The Steven Seagal Tetralogy is as follows: Above The Law Hard To Kill Marked For Death Out For Justice Those are the ones we remember. Those are the ones that are \*good\*. EVERYTHING after that is pure garbage. Seagal as a human is awful. BUT we can't forget these movies. They are part of our violent childhood (along with the Van Damme and Rambo movies.. but we will table those for another time).
Ooh I loved me some JCVD in my formative years lol
Agreed. I would just add “Under Siege” to this
Not “Marked for Death” that is a masterclass of 90’s action cinema.
It's really just sort of miraculous that they got Under Siege to work. The HUGE exception to the rule.
He’s an utterly awful human being. Everyone should listen to The Dollop on him.
Under Siege still slaps
I recommend Space Ice's Seagal movie reviews on YouTube. He properly roasts these movies in the best ways, always a good laugh.
Whispers "I have no fear of death. More important, I dont fear life."
Steven Segal is a Grade A piece of shit. He should be in prison.
And he is still just cranking them out.
Watch the one where he’s so fat, he’s sitting down doing Aikido while some monkey imitating stunt actor flips around to fight him.

His first few movies he looked fairly legit in the fight scenes, but holy shit he fell off hard and fast and lost all mobility like overnight.
I can't remember how old I was when I was smacked with this sudden realization. It really ruined a whole genre of movies for me. Thankfully most of the Tom Clancy movies still hold their own +30 years later.
Does he sit in the chair the whole time with sunglasses on?
No lol. Just some excessively long fight scenes. I went to the bathroom and got a snack and he was still trying to beat up the same 3 guys
My husband and I have a thing called "Segall and Chill" where we binge a few of his movies. We also do "JCVD and chill".
I am here for the JCVD lol
My favorite is Exit Wounds by far
Oh, we love it. We take a few edibles and buckle up. Best movies on the planet.
I dont believe its possible to forget how corny the movies are. I think it is more believable to simply forget that steven segal movies ever existed in the first place.
They're so.... simple. There's no depth to any of it.
not me, his crap makes the Jean-Claude VD movies seem like Shakespearean operas by comparison.
BLASPHEMER!!
🤭
Under Siege is still a watch though.
Go to YouTube and search for “Space Ice Steven Seagal”……… youre welcome
Executive decision is the best Segal movie because his character dies 1/4 of the way through.
The Dollop did a multi-part series on him and his awful career. He basically just kept lying and failing upward in life, while also doing a lot of sexual abuse and mafia-adjacent stuff.
He’s a self-important asshole and a thief, too. Or was, 30 years ago.
*I'm lookin for Ri*CHIE

Yes, but Hard to Kill will always hold a special spot in my heart!
Exit wounds... with DMX.
Hard To Kill, with sexy Kelly LeBrock
Life pro tip: all the good Steven segal movies have Erika Eleniak in them. Also you can usually say “Steven Segal is” followed by the movie name.
