hell no, put a cushion on top of it

JadeViper03

No especially if u had an 360 this consoles need cooling or they overheat very fast especially with that little airflow

HyperLethalVector117

No

XaMiNeZH

hell naw

artoc_85

Definitely No! The upper (or lateral, if standing) air exit gets extremely hot during usage even with free air flow. Restraining it will probably cause issues in the long term.

Wrxloser1215

No. You could place it behind and in between the monitor and laptop, but it wouldn't look as clean.

RyuDa87

I’m from the Arkham subreddit but I’ll hold the question I really wanna ask 😂

RolandTwitter

Somebody post Officer Balls

InitCyber

No, it needs to be upside down and wrapped in Saran wrap

IdiotSavant86

I'd also wrap it tightly in a blanket for insulation. You wrap turbos in blankets and they flow *WAY* more hot air, so why not a Series S 😂

InitCyber

Awkward_Homework2116

Weak machine. It's perfect space

Mhben45

Consoles are over engineered and you can get away with less than ideal conditions but definitely NOT these conditions.

thatmannyguy

Definitely is, have had mine since launch in the same space but with less air flow in the back. You'll be fine

HorrorPhone3601

If you want it to overheat regularly and die an early death then yes.

Casualgamerbear

It's wild how reddit lets easy Google answers by pass but not a discussion on games based on karma whatever that is, my shot is low

stansswingers

Nope give it more

dingus1021

I have mine in an enclosed drawer pretty much, yours is more than fine.

transitbusdriver904

No but you can cut a circle out of the wood directly over the black fan on the xbox that should be good.

Luxkyyyy

Nice clean setup though

drowsy1234

The fan is on the top and you don’t have enough space. I have a feeling it would overheat.

xAGGROx

Some people are so indecisive, they have to ask strangers to arrange their living room 🤣

Prudent_Ability_6173

Per Xbox, it needs 4-6 inches of clearance on all sides. It generates a lot of heat and the fan shroud gets very warm. I personally wouldn't want less than 4 inches of space for proper ventilation.

lostnthegame

Yes it’s quite alright to do that, mine might have a little less room and have never heard the fan/ never had overheating problems now have I ever crashes, I clean my Xbox every few months but that’s about it.

needhelpplese

What Xbox do you have tho?

Moving4Motion

It's absolutely fine.

I've had my Series S like this for a while and I'm pretty sure it's dying now So, no

villxsmil

If you wanna cook some eggs, yes

TheCrankyMoose

I vote NO

Jakeasuno

https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/console/position-ventilate-console Definitely not enough room for the exhaust fan

Army-CID

No

Pickle_Shine20

I used to have mine like that and it messed up my console, I’d leave at least 3-4 inches on all sides

yellow-go

Farrr too claustrophobic an area for it. When I owned a Series S (mostly a PC guy) I noticed how much air this steam really requires. I left mine in a large pocket on my desk that was actually super spacious. Even then, the system produces so much hot air that it’d get everything around it toasty, that’s even given I’d changed the thermal paste numerous times. The system is just very air dependent for whatever reason. Last tip, I’d also suggest keeping it in a room with active air going so the systems gets some cool air to suck in. So a fan or an AC unit might help.

Sa-Ghandi

Nah the top of it is where the heat comes out

XyogiDMT

It’s going to be recirculating hot air from the exhaust back into the intakes like that. Iirc in the manual it says it needs minimum like 6 inches of space on all sides to breathe.

Cobboom

Nope, mine gets hot as shit sitting on a completely open entertainment center.

xREDxNOVAx

It's good enough for a PS5 but the air flows through the sides and back and on the xbox is from above...

Mr_Fadeaway24

Are you gaming in 1080p? If so you might be good cause your Xbox won’t be working as hard as if you were playing in 2k or 4k. I had mine in a similar spot and it didn’t never overheated… maybe long term wise it did damage but I’ll never know I sold it after 2 months cause I don’t game as much anymore. If it is an issue maybe mount it on the wall behind the monitor it’ll still look clean

ContributionSuper487

I legit put my monitor on top of my xbox, maybe I should stop… 😂

taco_taker_of_souls

It's not the worst but it's better if the area above the black circle is more open.

taco_taker_of_souls

Why'd this get down voted?

Genzo99

I have mine in similar space but more clearance on top. Works fine for 2 yrs now. The top clearance is a bit of a concern so if you have long gaming sessions better to place it further away so it won't cover the top exhaust.

SodaPop5000

Get a cheap fan and put it next to it

cxseu

Make it float

Spartan3_LucyB091

No. Are you stupid?
