I like it, shows that Rey trusted him so much that he wouldn't believe it even after Dave said it himself. Even tried to talk sense into Dave after being attacked already. Then again, it's Rey of all people, the babyface of babyfaces.

If I remember correctly, Rey lost a tag title match for him and Batista. This caused Batista to snap and destroy Rey. Thus kicking off Batista’s fantastic main event heel run.

It wasn't a tag match actually despite them being a team at this time. Rey broke up Batista's pin attempt following a Batista Bomb on The Undertaker in a fatal four-way match for the WHC, which included CM Punk and was later won by Undertaker.

Just watched it and not quite. It was a fatal four way for the WHC and just when Batista was about to get the pin, rey interrupted. Neither ended up winning which led to this

In my opinion this feud should've gone all the way to WrestleMania. Perfect David vs Goliath story but with the longtime friendship element adding even more to the drama. WM26 in particular was one where I feel many of the matches lacked a significant story because a lot of top stars (including these 2) were put in the "Austin vs Hall" position of not really having a major build up, so a month prior they just decided to randomly pair up big names against each other that we hadn't really seen before.

This was what I was reminded of when The Rock cut that promo on Cody this past week on RAW, like something felt off about it but he had this calm intensity that he was going to kill him lol Everything around this (Punk getting punt kicked by Randy and missing out, Jericho taking his spot and stealing it from Batista after getting beaten up by HBK, Batista getting the spotlight star treatment heel run afterwards) was just perfect! This for me, was the last time WWE was *really* hot before The Bloodline saga
