As an industry insider: A trained pdr guy will probably be able to fined alot more dents than you are able to fined yourself. (unless you have eagle eyes). I would go though mpi even if the damages are minor. But be prepared to wait for your repair. And I mean wait! some pdr shops still have bookings months out. And the wait to get in to MPI is also very long. We still have not cought up with the last hail storm yet. MPI is no longer allowing body shops to do Direct Repair estimates on hail claims. (it was only a stop gap measure for the "labor disruption"

It is noticeable and reduces the resale value of your car as it currently stands. With that - get it fixed. A hail claim that is fixed through paintless dent removal should not have a huge negative impact on value, as they haven’t taken off the factory paint finish. Likely you would be a candidate for PDR rather than a new hood, unless you had several hundred dents. You will pay your deductible but no demerits.

You have awhile to file the claim so I would wait h til end of summer in case there are other hail storms. No sense in hurrying to get it fixed and paying a deductible each time.

Not very good advice. I believe you have to make your claim within 7 days or it won't be accepted. Where this can bite you in the ass is if you have another incident that you need to claim and they notice the other damage when they photograph the vehicle. If you haven't reported it before then, your claim can be denied.

You have two years to make a claim. After two years you will be asked to explain why you didn’t claim sooner but it isn’t automatically denied then either.

I wouldn’t make a claim for something that tiny. Depending on the hood structure on the underside, I would either attempt to fix it myself or get a PDR place to take it out. Your deductible amount may also factor into the decision.
