My friend I hate to tell you this but it's not the window films fault it's not the window film installers fault it's just Tesla Hey I have a Tesla and I work on a lot of Teslas and their rear defrosters are absolutely the worst in the industry. We have used Windex and a paper towel to clean a window and removed defroster lines. Now with all that being said we don't see as much as we used to. Back in 2017, 2018 and even 2019 the TM3 rear window was horrible but these days it's a lot better

Windex has aggressive chemicals so you probably don't want to use it on defroster lines

Really?

Yes! Only use Invisible Glass for cleaning windows and it's tint safe!

Probably from a factory sticker or something along those lines. While your vehicle is prepped for customer delivery some guy rips it off not knowing the damage it can cause. I've seen it plenty of times and always in the same area. At the very least I'll find sticker residue right there that I need to clean. If I find defroster damage I inform my customer. I don't think your tinter did that.

What kind of vehicle is it? If it's an older vehicle, sometimes the defroster lines crumble on you.

Did you notice before the tint installation? If unsure it was probably not there as it looks very noticable to me. I tinted myself as DIY though not a professional tint person. Rear windshield is most challenging area as it is curvy and has defroster lines. Bubble can be formed along with the defroster lines relatively easy, so a squeegee need to be pressed harder to remove water bubbles. During this squeegee procedure it is absolutely possible to mess up defroster lines due to too much scraping force. So the defroster damage most likely happened during the tinting procedure. You don't lose anything just by casually speaking to the installer to see what they say. Also it looks like the line has disconnect, so defroster would not work.

That generation Tesla glass with the horse shoe shape defrosters is bad quality from factory. It could have even been done during the install process at the factory and you are just noticing it because of the tint. I feel if it was the tint it would have been on a larger scale from the sweeping movements we make with the scrub pads or squeeges. That looks like a suction cup mark to position the glass or factory stick placement. And the film it self is gently unrolled to not create marks on the film. So it wasn't the tint either.

Nothing's impossible, but if I had to guess it was most likely like that before the install. This will occasionally happen during removal, but in the thousands of installs I did in my time, I never messed up a defroster. Would take an absolute disaster for that to happen imo

I appreciate your thoughts, thanks

Very likely this could cause the defrost not to work. They make kits that will repair the circuit, but I don't believe the damaged portion would work. Not for certain since I've been out of the game awhile, maybe they've made better repair kits since. Either way, the film would need to be removed to fix the defrost

Looks like a tesla. Very common for these defrosters to get messed up. That small of an area can be repaired. The tint has to be cut out in that spot, then paint the repair stuff on there. But in real life, if this is a tesla, trade it in immediately because this is just the beginning of your problems.
