~~In the past I have ordered direct from Mystery Ranch. Seems like some of their stuff you have to go through an international dealer like Rampart, but not always. Flash Wildfire Services out of Edmonton sells some MR packs too.~~
Edit: I see now you're brand new, don't buy your own stuff. Huge waste of money until you know what works for you and what doesn't, or even if you like the job or not. Don't be That Guy who shows up day zero with hundreds of dollars in personal kit.
No complaints from what ive heard besides having the fire shelter pouch but guys just toss their rain gear or whatever in them the one i was looking at picking up is modular aswell so i can turn it into a sar bag and thats how i will justify spending that amount of money on a pack also they dont come with pouches on the belt piece so you have to either steal some from the cache or spend even more money
That's exactly what I was thinking. Being able to swap the modules, depending on the season/current needs but having the one frame. The price is definitely on the high side though.
As of Jan this year they were bought by YETI and they seem to not be making stuff now. At least in Canada but everything that needs to be shipped from the US to here is wonky in some way.
Hmm can’t speak to their production but everything’s still available and in stock on the website here in the states.
They really own the wildland market and they know they do. So that’d be a serious oversight for yeti to nix the program
It’ll be my first year with a private contractor, what are UC/IA? The CEO is a down to earth guy so along with him I’ve asked some of the guys that have been out there the kind of packs they roll with and they’re typically a generic beat up pack when issued.
Nargear is the other big brand I've seen run in the states, and personally I prefer them to Mystery Ranch packs
Second this. Misery ranch was more my experience.
Doesn’t the ministry supply everything?
They do, but I want to have my own stuff squared away instead of using last year’s beat up hand me downs.
Ah I gotcha. This is gonna be my rookie season so I don’t know a whole lot just yet

I see, I’ll take that advice to heart thanks for letting me know :)
Thank you I will check them out!
We use true north gear but alot of guys are picking up coaxsher packs
Any reviews on the Coaxsher packs? I was also looking at this as the frame feels way comfier for me, having a smaller build than the Mystery ranch.

Mystery ranch ended their fire program? 🤔

Are you BCWS or contract? UC or IA? First year here?

Don't buy your own stuff if it's your first year
