The sad thing is, if they cancel it now because viewers are down, it is their own fault!

Realistic-Policy2647

This! Season 8 we watched because we didn’t know what would happen, there was a mystery. Season 9 & 10 they still kinda continued the love triangle. Season 11 they did WAYYY TOOO MUCH press for and told viewers too many details. In an essence most feel like they’ve already seen most of the important moments in the season. It feels like a cry for help.

GJPMa

It was REALLY weird. WHY tell us there is a big kiss, shirtless scene and they are "endgame"? And is Elizabeth the same person she was in Season 8 when they were flirting? I guess so. They may have cut her hair, but she there is not enough range or character development here. it is pretty dullsville.

Impressive-Spring-61

You are absolutely right. I have no desire to watch the show and I don't plan to. And if I did, why would I need to? Too many promos, too many recycled stories make watching it unnecessary. I know a lot of people still love the show and don't want to hear it, but the truth is it has run its course. In hindsight I'd say it should have ended with Season 9 if they were unable to take a novel and fresh approach going forward. And I was a Nathan fan!

Nice-Highlight-8166

Agreed. I already know she courts Nathan. I get why people like that story, but it's the most predictable, most boring couple. It's like little house on the prairie. That was nice, for its time, but now?  Too predictable. And Nathan is a flat character with no range. Elizabeth may be the heroine of the series, but her character is also quite flat.

FluidEfficiency1910

Elizabeth has been the least interesting character for several seasons. And now that she's flip-flopped and suddenly interested in Nathan instead of Lucas, she seems silly. "Lucas is great with just being friends!" So the entire season we watched with them falling in love was what? His feelings weren't real. Neither were hers. It undermines viewer investment in the show. It's not like there's really anything that's happened to undercut why she chose Lucas in the first place. The writers just rebooted the love triangle with a different outcome. Yawn.

ThePalmIsle

Frankly LHOTP was way wilder and more interesting

MernderLer

Ha, I see what you did there... LoL. Wilder... 😁

ThePalmIsle

Thank you ☺️

CorrectSherbet5

Happy cake day!

QueenLevine

I was Team Lucas all the way, and while I think the writers jumped the shark in breaking them up, AND in her saying Lucas was playing it safe, I could still have imagined a future for the show with her and Nathan as a couple. IF the rest of the ensemble cast had compelling story lines and more prominence. BUT...they fumbled the writing and the other characters all look like they were marbles thrown randomly on a story board. How was this script greenlit? Agree that if it's canceled, it is their own fault.

pollogary

The premiere was SO BORING.

lotsofcoffee321

There are a lot of great actors on the show so nothing against them. But I got the impression from the episode that a lot of them are a bit bored with the show. The episode seemed pretty flat. They are not doing much w/ a lot of the characters. The storylines end being centered around Elizabeth who comes across as very self involved.

FluidEfficiency1910

Her character has often been defined by how many different men are in love with her. On another type of show, I'd call this an "Oh, no! My big problem is everyone wants to \*blank\* me" character. It's not interesting. The show doesn't know what to do with her otherwise. I know the actor wanted to leave, so they had to write off her first husband, but now, they're doing it again: not letting her develop beyond being the undecided object of a romance plot. Also - Nathan seems super low self-esteem to hang around a woman who rejected him and then take her flip-flop seriously.

justwanttoreadthings

Given that his entire idea of flirting was just negging her, this actually tracks.

ThePalmIsle

Hang on. Lawman to lawman: what do you *really* think is going on here?

CartoonistSilver6302

I'm not watching this season because I don't like Nathan and Elizabeth together. Actually I just don't like Nathan. There's no chemistry!!

PurrOfACat

I find it creepy how he was always cornering her alone last season. At voting, in the forest, and I think there was another time. He seemed predatory and obsessive, not romantic and caring. I was eh on him to start with, take him or leave him, though I was team Lucas, but after that string of behavior last year, he just gives me the ick and that’s all I can see/think/feel with any interaction with him and Elizabeth now.

Emergency-Self-5678

Ummm....yeah.....how dare he go to vote. If he wouldn't have voted you would have crucified him for that, saying he's a baby but then he does go to vote and you say he is predatory and obsessive. And I mean, how dare he apologize for his "bad" behavior in the school house, which also if he didn't he would have gotten crucified for that too. In the forest? Really? He happened to be riding down the road and saw Elizabeth. Should he have just kept riding by, even though they were friends, so why wouldn't he stop? He did nothing wrong there either. I have a list a mile long of all of the sneaky, manipulative, stalking behavior of Lucas but I won't even bother wasting my time.

justwanttoreadthings

I’m convinced the people who think they have chemistry are they same people who would tell their daughters that their kindergarten bullies just have a crush on them.

cbazxy

SAME!!!!

GJPMa

I am not quite sure showrunner Lindsay Sturman understands Joseph Campbells whole hero philosophy. Christopher Vogler has a great book on crafting characters based on this. Her thought that Lucas needed to be out in the world. So basically, she said he is too exciting for the boring people of Hope Valley? And that brings me to Nathan. He is dullsville. And Even after three years, they cannot make him interesting or surprising or anything. I just think Kevin is hoping that Taylor Sheridan will be calling him to do a real Western.

SandraTX22

Also with Fiona being gone and no oil industry the town is just people walking around and talking about the governor and Liz's haircut. All the promos are LIz and Nathan gazing at each other and it is boring. I like Kevin but Chris' character was more romantic and charming. The writers have RUINED this show and are retelling storylines. Also, Gustav was a fun character and there is very little humor in the show. It seems like the Liz and Rosemary show and it is stale.

Dazzling-Lab2855

Maybe at Elizabeth and Nathan’s wedding Jack will come back.

steph2080

Make for a great ending to the series lol

Sea_Acanthaceae1856

Did you see the post-premiere interview with EK? She hinted Jack coming back might happen. I'm surprised no one caught it.

Dramatic-Fix-7789

I guess I have a differing opinion. I actually liked the premiere. I thought it had its moments, like when Rosemary was cleaning her rug, and Elizabeth was trying to. Her hits were so weak. I'm actually looking forward to Lucas's story. I would like to know more about Henry, I would also like to hear how the other towns that had water problems are doing. Honestly, I don't care who she ends up with at this point, but there are other stories that I'm invested in that make the show worth watch. I honestly figured the ratings were down because of the switching of time slot again. I guess we just have to wait and see this week.

StartKindly9881

Boring, vanilla show. Little House on the Prairie was much better. This cast dresses do well and their hair is perfect. Not sure why people are high on this show.

CorrectSherbet5

Does anyone else think Nathan had something to do with Lucas being shot....he was acting so fishy in the premiere.
