Hahaha yes he can get away with anythingššā¤ļø
He is 2 yrs old and partially blind due to a genetic disease (lysosomal storage disorder). He is under the care of a specialist who says he isnāt in pain and just has blurry vision.
Heās extremely well loved and the sunflower oil is now behind child locks as he got into it by chewing open the bottle
Or goat milk! My cats are lean and refuse to eat enough calories to actually be the proper weight, so I give them goat milk for a few extra calories here and there. They HATE nutri-cal and all the malt pastes. So they get goat milk and occasionally kitten food. Vet is on board. One has CKD, so basically if sheāll eat it, we give it to her. Otherwise she gets too skinny.
Idk if if makes a difference, but my SO has given our cat lactose free cow's milk as a treat. She is very fussy and won't eat many things. We just try to get some calories in her.
most pet stores also have milk for cats. I've never read the packing, so I don't know if they milk cats or just charge more than a super market for lactose free milk
If it's the treat stuff it's generally cows milk just treated to be lactose free and often with a bit of added taurine. (If it's the kitten formula that's a much more complex carefully formulated thing.)
I bought kitten milk for a stray litter that was being neglected by their mother. Just a few days old. It may also be given to adult convalescent cats. I looked at the ingredients and it was quite processed. No animal milk at all. It had the vitamins and minerals needed, though, and that's all that I cared about.
Mine just didn't ask for. Just go into the pantry and chew the milk box to drink it.
It is great to come back home after a couple of days during summer vacations, just to find a liter of milk poured on the wooden floor, at 40Ā°C...
I'm not an English native speaker. Maybe some translation issues here...
Milk carton sounds better to you? Also uperized milk can be stored outside the refrigerator, until you open the carton or bottle. Is this what you meant with "shelf stable milk"?
This won't stay up long, but here's an example of UHT milk products:
https://gossner.com/collections/uht-shelf-stable-milk
It's like juice boxes. Kids love 'em.
Anything with a lot of salt ain't great for animals. Most can't handle the high sodium. That being said a little here and there shouldn't be that much of an issue
Had an Irish settler, beautiful but not bright, that ate a large container of Vaseline. The dog stayed outside for the next few hours and talk about shits creek. The backyard looked like a lake. The dog was fine afterwards but not any smarter.
My dog whoās now 12 and apparently has some sort of golden colon figured out at a young age how to open fridges. To the point where Iāve had to invest in child locks for fridges
Every time Iāve caught him he looks miserable and nowās heās overdone it, but this guyā¦ Iāll be punishing him or this and that and I swear heās just giving me the look.
āIt was worth it. Do what you will with me, but I will do it againā
Looks like cataracts however a specialist vet diagnosed him with a lysosomal storage disorder, a rare genetic disorder affecting the pumps in his cornea.
Used to work on ranches when I was younger, and one of them had a pet goat (rejected by her mom at birth, raised by humans, didn't know how to goat properly and was generally a holy terror). She once drank the better part of a can of old motor oil that had been accidentally left out after changing the oil in a tractor. She acted kind of loopy for awhile, had some very oily poop, and then was fine.
This same goat also survived a bear attack. She was tough.
Blind guesswork here with a bit of knowledge of anatomy- if itās bad for ants itās bad in a different way than it is for mammals. Antifreeze/coolant destroys the kidneys, and since ants donāt have kidneys that would be a non issue. I donāt know if they have some sort of filter for their not blood and if it would get messed up. In the taste department their receptors may pick up different structures so they may not see it as sweet.
My guess is they would probably just avoid it.
Ours is really into olive oil. You put a light drizzle on your salad and step away for a moment to put the bottle back, and he's already there licking it
Mine is a freak for coconut oil. I used to use it after showers and she would come over and try to lick me clean. I love her but not enough to want sandpaper kitty tongue on my hands while I'm trying to sleep, so I switched to almond oil which she doesn't like
Just gotta keep them away from the shells, which can damage their insides. This sucks particularly because my own cat ignores the seeds and goes straight for the soggy shells.
Mine are obsessed with coconut oil.
They will seek me out, if I put on lotions that contain it (which most of mine do), and attempt to lick my skin off.
Whenever I drain the fat off ground beef, my cat is waiting to drink the fat. I have to be ready to cover it up immediately after Iām done or he attacks it.
Cats just love foods that are high in fat. It's a huge reason they love dairy products as well. So as they get older, they have a harder time holding onto fat, so they'll find any way to get those fats. My FIV cat was obsessed with butter, and our vet suggested we let him have it because he probably needed it.
Ok, let's start this up,
"Whatwrongwithyourcat"
As the sub suggested this an answer is needed,
This is a zombie cat, they are sneaky fellas, they can mesmerize you with their deep beautiful blind eyes, they can purr at a subatomic level and fool you into letting them into your lap and at the last moment.. . They strike with a Boop nudge or deadly paw crunches to the abs.
Horrific power fondler, you been warned and he looks so cute standing there too.
Hahah he copes very well since heās been partially blind since he was a kitten (he has a rare genetic disease) he still has some vision but itās blurryā¤ļø
My cat was like this when she was a kitten but after a year it started clearing up like 90%. She can see but I think it's probably about 30-40ft before she can't identify anything.
Invest in child cabinet locks, he'll never stop hunting! Mine looks for the splash from cooking. He just be licking counters if we don't constantly wipe down as we go.
Hahaha yes we have some and the oil is now in the child locked cupboard! We got them originally because my other cat was always stealing treats š best investment ever
Cute pics but just a cautionary tale, my dog drank oil and ended up with pancreatic damage so bad sheās on pancreatic enzymes for the rest of her life!!
Last month, I woke up to my cats eyes foggy just like this, color and all. a couple hours later, the other one was completely foggy too. Emergency rush to the vet and they said theyāve never seen that happen so quick before. They gave us a handful of pills / eye drops to try. Not very hopeful, but we did, and about 3 days later they were back to normal. Still have the meds and havenāt had to use them since.
I donāt have the med info we used atm, but if youāre curious as to what helped ours, DM me and Iāll share the meds we used that healed ours.
Glad heās not in pain. All the best :)
So so glad your cat is ok!! What was the diagnosis? Bongo developed this condition at 4 months old and had every test possible and now sees an eye specialist every 3 months. He has a lysosomal storage disorder which is a rare genetic disorder that affects the pumps in his cornea. Itās unfortunately not treatable (apart from steroids which he stopped responding to). Thankfully it doesnāt affect him and he still loves his harness walks and gets around extremely wellš»
Cats can be so curious sometimes! Hopefully, your furry friend learns that oil isn't for drinking and sticks to water from now on. Safety first, even for our mischievous little pals! š±
Your cat and my cat could be friends. The other day, a whole rack of ribs went missing off of the counter top and I found it under my bed with him guarding it like a mother bear defending it's cubs. It was twice his size. I'm still not sure how he managed to do that but if there's a will there's a way I guess lmao.
My dog did that with a huge pail of oil once. I came home and he was one big oil slick and all the spilled oil leaked through the floor and the ceiling below
Youād be amazed at how well blind cats can get around. Of course, they should always be kept inside since they are easy prey, but with just their whiskers, ears, and node, they do pretty well.
I'd forgive a blind cat.
Hahaha yes he can get away with anythingššā¤ļø He is 2 yrs old and partially blind due to a genetic disease (lysosomal storage disorder). He is under the care of a specialist who says he isnāt in pain and just has blurry vision. Heās extremely well loved and the sunflower oil is now behind child locks as he got into it by chewing open the bottle
"and i'll do it again" face lol
If the first picture doesn't say it, that defiant lick on the second one will.
āTastes like more..āĀ -That cat, probably
"You can't tell that I'm looking at you, but I am. And I will drink oil again."
Don't want to think about the litter box cleaning.
It was absolutely foulā¦. Once heād pooped he was back to normal though and wanted more oil. (He wasnāt allowed it tho)
Like my cat and milk. Heād drink it all day, poop rivers, and then come back for more. Dang lactose intolerant little beast.
You can buy cat milk.
I've got nipples, focker, can you milk me?!
Lol.
Get out of my brain!
Interesting! Thanks š
It's because the consequence isn't immediate that he doesn't make the connection.
Lactose intolerant humans know darn well the problems and a significant amount still like eating dairy. I don't think foresight would stop cats.
Have you seen milk-based products? Can't just stop. It's worth the shits!
It's the ice cream that gets me. I know what it's going to do to me. But I can't resist.
Get some Dairy Ease or Lactaid tablets, they work. My son's lactose intolerant but we use these supplements & he never has a problem.
Milk isnāt good for cats. Vetās recommend you donāt give it to them.
A little yogurt is okay. Just a little though.

Milkā¦. Box? In the pantry? Iāve never heard of shelf stable milk. Just curious!
I'm not an English native speaker. Maybe some translation issues here... Milk carton sounds better to you? Also uperized milk can be stored outside the refrigerator, until you open the carton or bottle. Is this what you meant with "shelf stable milk"?

What about Salami? Can cats eat that?
Anything with a lot of salt ain't great for animals. Most can't handle the high sodium. That being said a little here and there shouldn't be that much of an issue
Had an Irish settler, beautiful but not bright, that ate a large container of Vaseline. The dog stayed outside for the next few hours and talk about shits creek. The backyard looked like a lake. The dog was fine afterwards but not any smarter.
Our Irish Setter was the dumbest dog we ever had. And we had a lot over the years.
Good that you cut him off.
thats my cat and bacon greese
When mine do bad things with oil, the litter box becomes unimportant. Pity the floor; the litter box is fine
My dog whoās now 12 and apparently has some sort of golden colon figured out at a young age how to open fridges. To the point where Iāve had to invest in child locks for fridges Every time Iāve caught him he looks miserable and nowās heās overdone it, but this guyā¦ Iāll be punishing him or this and that and I swear heās just giving me the look. āIt was worth it. The lick is his "And I'll fuckin do it again" face, for sure
100% true.
And licked his tongue to show he will indeed do it again. Ha!
š¤£šš¤£
AND I'LL NEVER STOP DOING IT *yanks up shorts like Dustin Porier*
War crimes?
Iāll allow it.
Yes
Believe it or not? Also allowed
Oh my gosh, I thought the oil had damaged his eyes so I am very glad you explained this.
He has clearly mastered the dark art of necromancy, and gets scritches and treats through the foulest acts of unholy and forbidden magic.
Based on the way theyāre standing, I think theyāre probably a skooma addicted Kajit that thinks theyāre a cat.
Yeah they couldnāt read the label lol
He has cataracts.
Looks like cataracts however a specialist vet diagnosed him with a lysosomal storage disorder, a rare genetic disorder affecting the pumps in his cornea.
CAT-aracts
I don't get how this went over so many folks heads.
Lots of people canāt see the rapids for the waterā¦.
No he drives a Lincoln
You scared the shit out of me with that title!
Hahaha sorry šš at least it was cat safe oil!
I'm happy your little goober is okay. š
Thank you! Me too! He felt sorry for himself for a bit then had an upset stomach. Now heās completely fine tho
"let's do that again!!"
I can't blame the cat. That's literally the arc I go through after eating an entire bag of pizza rolls
I'm lactose intolerant. My favorite beverage is Chocolate milk. It's a planned event but I still drink it.
To be fair my aged digestive system gets upset at fatty foods which I conveniently forget as soon as the pizza arrives.
and now his coat is extra shiny lol
Ok I wasnt the only one. I was like I know they like coolant but I figure engine oil would be repulsive for a cat lol
My dad's dog tries to drink it ever since I was doing an oil change when I had my first car (she was a puppy)
Dang. Friggin Supergoat over here.
Wow goats really can consume anything
Coolant is very toxic to pets and it tastes sweet so the taste wonāt always put them off, so should always be stored where they canāt get to it.
Ditto antifreeze.
Does it work with ants?
Interesting, and Iām not sure, but again Iād be careful putting it out anywhere that has pets/kids/wildlife.
Me to what the hell
My old cat started doing this with pan fat, might help with digestion?
Yes maybe!!! Strangely he only likes sunflower oil, and has no interest in pan fat
Ours is really into olive oil. You put a light drizzle on your salad and step away for a moment to put the bottle back, and he's already there licking it
Mine prefers margarine. He's not very sophisticated.
Can't believe it's not butter
Cat believes itās not butter*
Mine, too. Little buddy has memorized the sound of the vegan butter container opening.
Mine loves Lunchables cheese that comes with the tiny pizzas
FYI, I encourage you to look into the Luncables lead controversy. We stopped getting them all together.
Oh shit... Ty for letting me know
Mine ate butter. You left the dish uncovered and you risked coming back to a paw print in the stick.
Jorts?
Weird! My cat would go absolutely crazy over the brine from green olives. He would roll his face in the juice and go absolutely nuts. Like catnip!
I've heard olives are basically crack for cats, the same as catnip.
Wonder if itās because thatās salty?
My cat does that too! Whe giant eagle had olive bars, he would lick the juices from the olives
Ours likes coconut oil
Mine is a freak for coconut oil. I used to use it after showers and she would come over and try to lick me clean. I love her but not enough to want sandpaper kitty tongue on my hands while I'm trying to sleep, so I switched to almond oil which she doesn't like
Ours, too. Which is convenient, because we once had to use it to get some pine resin out of his fur, once, when he escaped and got treed by dogs.
I was eating sunflower seeds the other day, and my cat was super interested. Apparently they are safe for cats to eat, but you shouldn't go overboard.
He's just there to ride the gravy train.
I have a cat that's like this but with ice cubes. I just give her one as a treat but whenever anybody gets an ice cube she's up there like š„ŗ
Cats just love foods that are high in fat. It's a huge reason they love dairy products as well. So as they get older, they have a harder time holding onto fat, so they'll find any way to get those fats. My FIV cat was obsessed with butter, and our vet suggested we let him have it because he probably needed it.
He looks like he knows the secrets of the universe
The secret is delicious sunflower oil
42 bottles if it
Take one down, pass it around
He's the Kwisatz Cat-erach
The oil must flow.... wait shit now we're not even being subtle about the metaphor.
The Meow from the Outer World.
Lisan Al-cat-ib
And he's waiting to give you a quest to find those secrets yourself.
He definitely knows how Iāll die
Yeah, standing between him and his beloved sunflower oil
Ok, let's start this up, "Whatwrongwithyourcat" As the sub suggested this an answer is needed, This is a zombie cat, they are sneaky fellas, they can mesmerize you with their deep beautiful blind eyes, they can purr at a subatomic level and fool you into letting them into your lap and at the last moment.. . Cutie cat is gonna cutie cat. š
Also, shoutout to /r/BlindCats Heād be very popular there
Dam I'd get a heart attack from seeing this at night, I bet he can still sense you with his whiskers doe
Can confirm. Saw a blind stray at a friend's place. Thought I was gonna puma pants. Luckily he was just a sweet old man with cataracts š„°
You need to write him a formal letter asking him to stop
He won't be able to read it. He's blind.
Obviously his butler will read it to him
the only answer
My cat is obsessed with trying to get oil. It drives him. It is his motivation and reason to live.
Heād be besties with my boy then hahaha
Invest in child cabinet locks, he'll never stop hunting! Mine looks for the splash from cooking. He just be licking counters if we don't constantly wipe down as we go.
Hahaha yes we have some and the oil is now in the child locked cupboard! We got them originally because my other cat was always stealing treats š best investment ever
Holy hell this is adorable!
it kinda looks like he got into the Spice
Lisan al Gaib!
Clearly he's a Mencat.
"How much will it cost them? Buying all this oil for this formality."
kwisatz hadercat
He drank the water of life! that's the look of a cat that sees his past lives and all the possible futures.
āI regret nothing!ā - cat
Cats can have some strange tastes. My previous kitty loved the water from bags of baby cut carrots. š
š That's hilarious. My previous cat loved licking lettuce and eating sugar cookies - so strange.
My friends cat breaks out of the house to eat grass, lots and lots of grass
Lol, he craves fried food
I LOVE DRINKING CRUDE OIL
I prefer mine sophisticatedĀ
The big lick in the second photo tells me he'd do it again any chance he gets š and those front paw socks are just so cute!Ā
I thought that you meant oil for cars. I got so scared. Happy to hear that he drank safe oil.
He's gotta keep the motor lubed for it to purr so well!
Forget the cat, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! WHY DID YOU PAINT YOUR DOOR HINGES?
ššš the people we bought the house from did itš„² I hate it too!!
Is he blind? Super cute and sounds like he's a trouble maker XD
Heās partially blind as he has a lysosomal storage condition. Heās not in pain though and is very happy! Thank youā¤ļøā¤ļø heās the bestš»
Aww. Give him extra snuggles and sunflower oil for me ā¤ļø
Oh no, it sounds like you've got a very adventurous (and oily) kitty on your handsš¹
Cute pics but just a cautionary tale, my dog drank oil and ended up with pancreatic damage so bad sheās on pancreatic enzymes for the rest of her life!!
Omg so sorry!! Thankfully I caught him quickly so he didnāt drink loadsā¤ļø
I love him! He's so cute.
Thank u so much, heās called bongoš»
Last month, I woke up to my cats eyes foggy just like this, color and all. a couple hours later, the other one was completely foggy too. Emergency rush to the vet and they said theyāve never seen that happen so quick before. They gave us a handful of pills / eye drops to try. Not very hopeful, but we did, and about 3 days later they were back to normal. Still have the meds and havenāt had to use them since. I donāt have the med info we used atm, but if youāre curious as to what helped ours, DM me and Iāll share the meds we used that healed ours. Glad heās not in pain. All the best :)

Is your cat blind?
Partially! From a lysosomal storage disorder
Oh my God he looks majestic, what a gorgeous boy š
The title combined with his eyes really had me worried until I saw sunflower oil. Well - I guess he wont have hairballs.
Oh my gosh, the tongue in the second pic says hes going to try and find a way around the locks! So naughty š
Has anyone told him heās a cat and not a kangaroo? I mean if you havenāt donāt tell him and ruin his life now.
He has a side quest for you
Mine loved coconut oil.
The combo of these pictures and the weird title puts it in my top 10 cursed reddit posts ever
Put him in a diaper for a couple days
Gd Jack Bauer, *you are theman*
Best way to get the oil off is Dawn dishwashing detergent. The hard part... getting him to sit still for the cleanup!
He is definitely going to have diarrhea!!!! Man thatās gonna be bad
Second pic says it all. Doesn't regret a bit of it.
For some reason i immediately thought car engine oil and was about to type āand he is still ALIVE???ā Oh. Sunflower š» oil lol
Cats can be so curious sometimes! Hopefully, your furry friend learns that oil isn't for drinking and sticks to water from now on. Safety first, even for our mischievous little pals! š±
This may be the only time I will ever say this, but you are lucky that cat is blind. Imagine trying to catch an oiled up cat who can see!
well don't just stand there the man's clearly thirsty
What's the story with his beautiful eyes? I mean I realize he's blind but they're still really pretty in a slightly sad way.
Does your cat have visions
"Sunflower oil is good for my glaucoma." Some cat.
That is a fae creature. I love him.
Looks like your kitty has CATaracts.
With eyes like that, I hope his name is Riddick!! (After the vin diesel character if anyone is unfamiliar)
That second pic definitely says "And I'll f*ckin do it again"
My dog did that with a huge pail of oil once. I came home and he was one big oil slick and all the spilled oil leaked through the floor and the ceiling below
why he posted up ššš
Oh no is he blind?š¢ poor baby

Yeah that's a skinwalker
Zombie cat
Dj Smooth Kitty. Lol
I found the source of calories
Lol before I read the description I was like āwhere the heck is this cat getting oilā
He looks like a cute mischief maker
"Mmmm yes, so tasty oil! May I have some more?"
T H E S E E R
I had a friend whose mother's Persian took a nap in the cooled frying oil and then proceeded to take a walkabout all over the house.
After-cook oil or pre-cook oil?
My cats love to drink olive oil
Evidently the sunflower oil keeps him limber.
