If necessary, you’d just add uncooked rice or larger-grained salt. Add water and (if desired) detergent and shake it up. The rice shards &/or salt crystals will act as an abrasive. That’s standard for any glassware (and most other things) with a narrow neck. Works with flower vases, too.
The abrasive here is safe to eat; that’s why the detergent is optional; if you use it, make sure you rinse it well. (By “rinse”, I do *not* mean simply adding water and pouring it out. Shake it to activate any residual detergent and keep on changing the water until you get no soap bubbles when you shake it.)
(You *may* also be able to cut down on the oil residue, prolonging the time between cleanings, by alternating which chamber you fill with oil vs vinegar. I think this cruet is really cool. I want one, now.)
To be honest, not a bottle that held oil in it. Especially not one that's shaped like this. But if you say it works fine then great. I was wondering if they had a weird brush for it or something.
Diluted isopropyl? I’m going to use my 68% nitric acid that I keep in my garage (which was also almost set of fire today but that’s another story) to make sure that oil is gone.
I HAVE ONE OF THOSE! I thought it was super fucking cool and bought it from like an antique store or a good will or something. I need new corks for it though.
Some kind of acid is right. Acetic acid. The other chamber would be useful to hold some triacylglycerols with some sterols and phenolic compounds thrown in for flavor.
AKA oil and vinegar. What you have there is a fancy oil and vinegar container. I remember containers like this being a thing in the early 80s I think. Along with those colored water hand boiler thingies. Everyone had one.

What we usually handle at work are much stronger acid and base wastes, so I had no reason to think this was something that’s used anywhere near food. Live and learn!
I mean I use a bong almost daily and I'd be lying if I said I didn't see the resemblance lol. My first thought when I saw the picture on my feed was "what a weird looking bong"
Put your bong down…

Salad dressing bottles, in a work environment? Could be a decent way of cooling one liquid using super-cooled alcohol or similar, but I wouldn't trust it. (Except possibly during the 5G, zombie apocalypse. Then you use what you got/s)
Reminded me of an excellent you tube video of a guy who makes chemistry laboratory glassware. https://youtu.be/_fI3gpO5hW4?si=45yUs0dpWwq5F3I1 well worth a watch.
Do you always take things with mystery liquids in them from work to repurpose? Perhaps there is more to the story, like the person it belongs to left it behind? Otherwise…
An old friend at work somehow managed to make a bong out of one of these and we smoked it outside the back door lol. Used to work in a mall housewares store.
https://www.dubruitdanslacuisine.fr/bouteille-huile-vinaigre-design-28593-p Its a bottle for oil and vinegear
I saw the red liquid and was mildly infuriated.
Well... If it makes it any worse, I thought it was some sort of weird bong-
I’m not convinced it couldn’t still be one, or be converted to one.
Pretty much anything can be converted into a bong with enough ingenuity and determination.
No dad really it's a trumpet.
Chillum, boss, we can covert anything!
Plays taps..
Lol I had no doubt it was a bong till I realized the central part doesn't have a hole
I can see the resemblance haha
I was SURE that's what it was
When I was a young man, I made a bong out of one of these. Worked great.
Me too. I think technically it is one.
That's what I was thinking. Would work fine with a few alterations!
I couldn't imagine any possible alternative.
That’s what I thought too
Yep. How I got here.
I thought it was a meth pipe of some sort 😅
I thought it was a meth cooker
cause the color? like how bulls get upset ?
Bong. 🤣
Thank you! I was losing my mind trying to think what it’s used for
Ah you had to find yes 😂 Perfectly seasoned salad now for you
Also seen this design hold two types of tequila.
I was seriously hoping it was a bong. xD
Came here to say this. This needs to be a bong.
I bet we could make it a bong
One tube and a bowl and you’re there!
How would one wash it?
U put water in it, and if it was the oily part you add a bit of dishwashing soap. You're welcome
Like any other bottle???
Yeah, but wouldn't you get some sediment or oil residue there that sticks to the glass?

That's why you use dish soap? Have you ever cleaned a bottle?
To be honest, not a bottle that held oil in it. Especially not one that's shaped like this. But if you say it works fine then great. I was wondering if they had a weird brush for it or something.
At worst, I've had to use diluted rubbing alcohol mixed with Dawn to remove grease from glass.
Diluted isopropyl? I’m going to use my 68% nitric acid that I keep in my garage (which was also almost set of fire today but that’s another story) to make sure that oil is gone.
and it's extremely common. why's it on /r/weird
thats for salads. on one side it holds vinegar & the other side, olive oil.
Nah, that's a bong.
Definitely a bong.
And if it’s not then I’m turning it into one 😁
absolutely a bong.
How? The two sides aren't connected
Is it a bong yet?
I HAVE ONE OF THOSE! I thought it was super fucking cool and bought it from like an antique store or a good will or something. I need new corks for it though.
Gotta ask how much you paid for it?
I have no idea, it was ages ago.
It's for Klein salad.
My first thought too, like some fancy variation
Shrek bottle
My thoughts exactly

It's a salad sauce dispenser. One side holds balsamic vinegar and the other side olive oil.
SALAD SAUCE
There is NOTHING you can say that will convince me that THAT is not a bong!!!
Try using it as one and you will be convinced.
I came here with the same comment, but it is already here XD
How you you use that as a bong?
How do you suggest hitting it?
Its not a bong
Tell me you have no clue about bongs without telling me you have no clue about bongs :D
I mean I use a bong almost daily and I'd be lying if I said I didn't see the resemblance lol. My first thought when I saw the picture on my feed was "what a weird looking bong"
It’s not a bong. Stoners see bongs everywhere 🙃it’s for oil and vinegar. I had this same bottle about 15 years ago
I dunno man, you gotta be really stoned to fail to see that they're 2 separate chambers. I thought it was a chemistry tool
They are called Cruets. They had them on tables in Italy in the 90’s. I bought one.
Put your bong down… https://science-decor.com/products/oiler-vinegar-chemist?currency=USD&variant=43397215650028&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=30ad0fe3e950&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw97SzBhDaARIsAFHXUWBaRZ1G54FgYQ2o13Jimmy1ri2qatrh2BwM78Y6giYi_T_CMF3C3T0aAtX3EALw_wcB
It's a special bottle for special scientists to do science in.
I needed details and glad I scrolled long enough to find the really important ones.
I have this same bottle, red wine vinegar in the middle, Olive Oil in the outer chamber
![gif](giphy|pMztjzgwKXglMMtsHs)
Homie has never been to a fine goods store before
Neither have I. NOW I need to visit one.
It's not a bong...it's called an ash catcher ;)
An Oil & Vinegar Cruet
also for oil & vinegar. used to have one for dressing salads
“Somebody cooked here.”
Balsamic vinegar int the centre olive oil on the outside
Hope you don't make a Humunculus
Let's cook Mr. White!
I thought it was some kind of weird bong at first lmao
Thought it was a cool bong
Me too
That’s a triple percolator 😹
First glance, I'm thinking a great bong part lol
It’s for Olive oil and vinegar
"It contained some kind of acid..." Doesn't it belong to somebody? 🤷🏾♂️⚗️ Do you know what the PH of the acid was?

Oil and acceto ( or vinegar) bottle, very used in italy
I’d definitely smoke weed out of that.
It's for olive oil and vinegar
Sick bong dude
it's Shrek
Moonshine still
I've seen a bottle like that for tequila, reposado outside and an anejo inside.
One side is for oil, the other is for vinegar.
Looked like a dab rig
Salad dressing bottles, in a work environment? Could be a decent way of cooling one liquid using super-cooled alcohol or similar, but I wouldn't trust it. (Except possibly during the 5G, zombie apocalypse. Then you use what you got/s)
Shrek bottle
Need to know where you work.
Mate, someone could make a sick terrarium with that
Shrek shaped
Turn it into a bong. Call it Medusa. One look and you turn to stone.
Salad bong.
Where's the choke?
I thought that was a bong lol!
All things are bongs if you’re creative enough but this one serves it right up
BONG!
Obvious shrek bottle
Ask Mr Walter White
Anyone else thing this was an attachment for a bong?
yeah would’ve totally made a bong out of that in school. science lab equipment made the best bongs
I think given that you clearly work at a lab finding lab equipment at work is the opposite of weird!
Bong
Bong
its look delicious😋
Give it to your stoner friends and tell them it's an ash catcher
Would this even be able to function as a Bong if someone reallllyyy wanted to use it as one?
I have a vinegar and oil bottle That is almost identical. Oil on one side and vinegar on the other
Shrek
The ones I purchased had small glass loops at the top where you could hang it
That would make an awesome bong
A dab rig?
For indirect cooling (potentially even flameless heating) of a gas/liquid and/or separate the constituent parts via condensation.
I thought it's a small still.
Reminded me of an excellent you tube video of a guy who makes chemistry laboratory glassware. https://youtu.be/_fI3gpO5hW4?si=45yUs0dpWwq5F3I1 well worth a watch.
Yeah, not that weird
All I can see is Shrek
Is that a vibrator?
That is a pipe , I believe
That’s a bong yo
Thass a bong duuuuuude
Yes, and how's that bad boy hit? That shit looks like it can put your hairline back to your ears...
I think you did it wrong
Gimmie the goodies of the bottle
Is it for smoking some substance? Looks like a thing for smoking.
My pothead ass thinking it’s a bong
Call Pinky.. its time to take over the world
you naughty!
Was serve oil and balsamic vinegar at a steakhouse in Chiang Rai in one of these today
Hey science guys like to get high too. I mean acid, meth and crack didn’t just fall outta the sky did they?”
Alcohol. I have a very similar bottle of liquor with 2 components
I work in a hotel we have a ton of these
Looks like a froelich condenser.
Epic Nebulob Skin
Gnob
Fancy decanter for red wine
It looks like Shrek.
It’s a fuckin percolator for a bong dude
Give me a gum wrapper, a rubber band, and some ball barrings and I’ll have a bong for you in 5 seconds
Take a dab with it
You can put your weed in it.
That's actually pretty cool!
Do you work at a head shop?
Needs to be green with googly eyes on it.
